Jade Crow is a sorceress, the most hated and feared part of the magical community, living in the town of Wylde Idaho. Hiding her real talent posing as a hedge witch she is on the run from the granddaddy of all black magic sorcerers. She does little magic that might draw him in, keeping a low profile. But when a shape-shifter Justice appears at her shop door everything changes and hiding is no longer an option. She is going to have to get very strong very fast before her past shows up to eat her heart.
I liked the books but was waiting for books to go on sale to read rest of series so it’s been awhile since I read.
glad to read of a female leading character that is taking charge…. a very good read
I’ve read 9 of the books in this 10 book series in the last 2 weeks. So much fun!
Can’t put them down and need to read the next as quick as possible! Wonderful!
Justice is Calling (#1):
Jade Crow owns a comic book store and is trying to stay under the radar. In walks a sexy tiger shifter and that all changes.
I really enjoyed this new world. All the different types of shifters and paranormals was just fascinating. I was instantly entranced with the world and characters.
Jade was a fascinating character. She is powerful but scared of the past. I really can’t wait to see what happens to her next. Also, I really liked all the little pop culture references.
Murder of Crows (#2):
Jade is trying to build and train her power for the fight with Samir. In this book we get a look at her past and her dysfunctional family. She has to face her family’s past crimes and defeat a killer.
I am really like Jade and her struggle to survive. Her and Alek are a cute couple but I wonder how their relationship will go after these events. Onto the next book.
Pack of Lies (#3):
Jade is trying to get back to normal when Alek steps back into her life. A missing wolf brings them back together. They finally admit their feelings and work together to stop a dangerous killer.
I love that we are seeing more of the shifters and how their packs work. The wolf shifters are quite interesting and I can’t wait to see them more in future books. As for Alek and Jade, they have a lot of baggage and feelings to work through. Alek is finally opening up about his feelings and past. I really hope they continue to be open and share their feelings in the future.
After that last chapter I can’t wait to see what happens next.
This is a great series!
I love the diversity in characters, it’s what the world really consist of!
This was a great read – I look forward to seeing more of the series through the BookBub deals.
I gave it a 3 only because the novels are so short. I get that everyone wants ‘series’ now but at least make the book worth the price.
The first three books in the series are short – novella length – but enjoyable reads. Jade Crow is a fun and enjoyable character. I found her to be delightfully nerdy, with way that she connects her magic to D&D but also realistically heroic, with relatable weaknesses. Anne Bellet’s writing is engaging and fun to read, drawing you in to the story and the characters right away.
Jade Crow has made herself a new life, hiding among the supernatural community by pretending to be a powerless hedge witch. But when her friends’ lives are put in danger, and a sexy, powerful Justice comes to town, she’s forced to decide if she’ll keep herself hidden from her own powerful enemies, or revel her true powers to save their lives.
Urban Fantasy at its best. Annie Bellet mixes magic, humor, and all your favorite nerd references in a wonderfully action packed series.
A great usage of magical characters and modern day obstacles mixed with luck and chance.
My sister kept bugging me to read this series and now I know why. I could not put the book down. I found the large story arc that flowed through the three books feel like they were more like tests for her and how she would handle them. Though I do believe she could have handled the one with her family much better, however, we are human and we can and will make mistakes. It is good to see that an author is willing to let her character show flaws and not be perfect. I believe that actually makes for a much better read than one that has no flaws at all. Then the book becomes predictable and these are so not predictable.
I do have an understanding of gaming and lightly brushed it a bit and yet what I like is that she also wrote the story in such a way that you do not need to have an understanding of gaming at all to enjoy the books. Gaming with dice rolls and spell crafting with levels can get very complicated and it would throw me out of the story in a heartbeat because of my lack of understanding. I am very grateful that she did not do this to her readers.
Overall I will say the storyline for each book is believable, the characters develop over time and become more complex and only encourage me to continue to read the series.
Great need more
Wonderful look at magic in the modern age.
Love this – my new ‘favorite series’!
I really liked the books in this series.
