From international bestselling author Ivy Smoak comes a heart-stopping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end…I’m not supposed to leave the house. But what my husband doesn’t know won’t kill him. I break his rules every morning on my runs. It’s always been best when I have a routine. So every day I wake up, run, clean the house, wish for a better life, repeat. … better life, repeat. And every day is exactly the same.
Except for Thursdays. I live and breathe for Thursdays. It’s when he comes. I watch him from a distance. I can’t help myself. But I was never supposed to talk to him.
I know what you’re thinking. But you don’t know my story. You don’t know the kind of monster my husband is. And trust me, you have no idea who I am.
This is a standalone thriller with an unforgettable twist.

Didn’t like the outcome, left me wanting.
I thought the plot was predictable but enjoyable. It is an entertaining, quick read.
I tried to read this book but frankly I hated the main character so bad, I barely could finish the first chapter. I just couldn’t take her paranoid psychotic conversations in her head. She was ridiculous. Everything she said, I thought, “on please.”
Maybe the book gets better, but i couldn’t stick it out long enough to find out.
Sorry Ms. Smoak.
I found the main character very frustrating and unbelievable. The development of the character felt unrealistic and unbelievable.
I didn’t finish this one. I felt it kept dragging on…
An amazing book. This is a great story that was cleverly written. I loved the main character and how she really does thrill you. The author is wonderful. I want to read all of her books. This is one I will truly remember.
A look inside the mind of mental illness. Well written and realistic.
Kept me on my seat till the end.
What a great twist.
I folded on this book after an hour. Could not get into this weird neurotic woman
This book starts out a little slow. By the middle it gets more interesting and the ending is quite surprising, although unsatisfactory. The reader is left wondering what happened – who lived and who died? I hate books that expect you to buy the next in the series to find out what happened!
A little slow in spots.
Twists and turns with a surprise ending.
slow story. fbi character was lame.
This novel could have been so much better than it was. Parts of it were absolutely great and parts were not, so I’m ending up in the middle on my rating.
Adaline is a virtual prisoner in her own home, but she is allowed to run everyday and on Thursday’s she gets to see him. Her glimpses of him are fleeting, as he mows his lawn, but she lives for these moments. One morning she trips over bags of leaves he has been collecting and changes both their lives.
PROS–The storyline is really good, the plot and pacing are good, there are plenty of twists and a big surprise ending. (at least for most people)
CONS–Smoak has her main protagonist under the influence of drugs often, in an attempt to obfuscate details and cause uncertainty in the story. I hate when authors do this. There is also a potential relationship that develops between the two main characters. The emotional responses to events are very juvenile–I love you, I hate you, you hate me, you never cared for me, blah, blah blah.
weird
I went into this blind, which is probably the best advice I can give you with this one.
“The Truth In My Lies” is really quite a strange one: and as I wasn’t really sure what I was reading here I just went with the general flow and boy did I have questions upon questions.
in fact, the more I discovered here or actually thought I did the more I was turned around and confused.
I trusted no one here, everybody and his dog was suspect in my eyes.
You’ve got Adelaide and Ben she seems slightly Cray Cray he appears to be the perfect man.
But is he too perfect?
Then there’s the Husband who is he?
why is Addy so scared of him?
what is going on in her marriage and what is she hiding?
We also have locked basements, missing time and misplaced items and Adelaide is definitely keeping secrets.
Nothing here is what it seems as we get to discover the unfolding drama in real time from Addy’s POV and I was absolutely transfixed throughout.
So many questions and so few answers this was misdirection at its finest and I felt like a real-life Nancy Drew.
Everything here had innocent explanations but something just felt off and my internal danger buttons were pinging all over the place.
To be fair I did guess some of what was at play here but it was quite late on and I was suitably impressed with how the author had tangled me up in knots and managed to turn me around so skillfully.
My only complaint was the ending it didn’t give me enough closure plus I would have prefered an alternative finale but in the scheme of things that’s really a small minus from my camp.
This really was a work of art and a fantastic piece of fiction.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Truth in My Lies.

Holy crap, Wow, I don’t even know where to start. This book has completely blew me away. I was so consumed by Addys tale of abuse, mental illness and her overall sadness that I didn’t know what was what any more as each detail was uncovered. Then there’s Ben, what can I say, I really liked his character. He never gave up on Addy, he truly wants her to be happy. You get so wrapped up in this book you start losing where the lied are and what is actually or could be the truth!
Kudos to Ivy Smoak for writing such a mind blowing book. This has got to be one of the best books I’ve read this year. At times I felt like I was actually there in Addys world. I was hooked from the very first chapter and simply couldn’t stop reading. That end though…mind blown, shocked and I am still trying to recover!
What did I think?! I think I’m exhausted because I had to stay up late to finish it! SO many twists and turns. I had NO idea! I can’t even.
This book certainly went in a few different directions! I was prepared to read about Adeline’s tale of a carefully controlled life with her eerie husband. I was even prepared to have Ben save her, a white knight on his steed. But none of my assumptions prepared me for the way this story panned out. It certainly took me on a wild ride! The twists definitely took me by surprise, but in the end, I was left trying to figure out just what had happened. I struggled with it a bit, as I don’t usually like this kind of ending. Be prepared to keep guessing!
