Steamy, sexy, and laugh-out-loud funny, THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is a new contemporary novel that will pull your heartstrings and steam up your e-reader… While I was off pitching in the big leagues, my family was back in the small town of Sweetwater, Texas, running the family ranch. Then tragedy hit and I discovered there were secrets that my family kept, problems they hid. I went home, left … went home, left behind the money, women, and fame. I took over the ranch and took care of my grandmother. I took over hiding the secrets. Then she came to town. A smart-mouthed, clumsy, too-smart-and-too-pretty-for-my-own-good city girl hiding out to write a book. She’s right here, on my property, in the cottage my grandmother rented her without my permission, and she sees too much. She knows too much.
Now suddenly my world is spinning, and she’s shoving a baseball back in my hand while baking cookies with my grandmother. She’s the devil and an angel all in one fiery little package. I decide I’ll wait her out. She’ll go back to the city. Only suddenly I don’t want her to leave, and everything I’ve settled for in my life isn’t enough. I want to play ball and I want her, but there’s that secret that won’t let go, but neither will she.

I loved this story so much! Jason and Jessica are the everyday realistic couple you’ve fallen in love with in Hallmark movies or with your favorite RomCom. Nothing goes right for them from the beginning and it’s hilarious. Jason is a terrible communicator and sees everything in black and white and never asks questions he just assumes. Jessica is a real trooper not giving up on him although in Jason’s defense he keeps coming back to accident prone Jessica and never real does give up trying. I needed 1 more steamy connection at the end especially with all the missed opportunities between them but alas the Happy Ending didn’t disappoint. Can Martha be my grandma? I want to try her cookies! Oh and love love love Kelly!
I was stoked to receive my first ever ARC from Lisa Renee Jones through NetGalley. It’s my first ARC but not my first read.
The blurb pulled me in… I love romance, I love cowboys and I love baseball and I thought this sounds like something I’d enjoy to read and so here we are.
I think there’s a certain way to write a love-hate relationship without completely exasperating the reader and this one has just the right amount of push and pull that gives you those romantic chills. I kept on bracing myself because I was excited of the build-up…. Build up is everything when it comes to romance.
Reading this kinda’ reminded me of Country Nights by Winter Renshaw, and I’ve re-read that book many times especially when find myself in a bookfunk. I’m pretty sure I’ll be re-reading this one in the future as well.
I enjoyed the book though there were times when I think Jason was being too much of an a$$hö£e, but he makes it work because Jessica isn’t someone who can be pushed-around without pushing back as well.
If you’re looking for something to read that would relive the stress away and escape real life for a bit, then this is the book to pick up next.

Yes! Lisa you nailed it! Writing about a cowboy over a billionaire is different. But in a good way! It was a change of pace from her other books. This book was as dark. Took place in Texas away from the city. I enjoyed the humor you added as well. This book had all kinds of ups and downs in it. Downs as in: loss, cheating, debt, loss of dreams and snakes. But ups as in: humor, baking, love, new dreams and a sphinx cat! The banter between Jessica and Jason was hilarious. With Jason flying off the handle at Jessica so easily and Jessica comparing Jason to an ex every chance she could get! This all started with a sweet lady named Martha(aka-grandma). She just wanted to grandson to be happy and to stop living the life he wanted. If you are a fan of Lisa, this one will not disappoint. Just a different pace and setting.
5 HOME RUN STARS!! This book is different from this author normal book, that being said…..I LOVED IT!!! Lisa Renee Jones hit this one out of the park. This story had it all for me, drama, fun bantering, broken characters, friends, family and so much love. What more can you ask for a beautiful lawyer city girl and a jerky country boy that use to played professional baseball and these two clash. You should definitely 1-Click this book…..you will love it.
I really loved it!
It’s fun, sweet, finding that perfect someone who could be anoying and an A**hole…
he owns the bungalow your living in…
Jessica is running from her live as a divorce attorney after finding her fiancée in bed with his secretary. she finds the bungalow on the internet, and hires it from Martha, but she does not technically owns the bungalow, but her grandson Jason does.
Jason is an ex-pro-baseball player who gave up his career…After his parents die in a tragic accident leaving him to care for the farm and his grandmother, Martha. it’s a struggle.. but his biggest struggle now is Jessica…
City woman verses the cowboy!! I loved the humor!! I loved Martha..the cookies, the trust-issues…
The Truth About Cowboys is great!!
Loved every minute of it!
I’m struggling on how to rate this book. It was your typical city girl meets cowboy scenario. I’ve read a couple of books by Lisa Renee Jones and this wasn’t quite like the previous ones I’ve read by her. I liked this book but I didn’t love it. It had quite a few redeeming qualities overshadowed by the cliches written throughout. I loved the concept of the plot. There were some instances where I found myself asking what?! She seemed like such a strong character in the beginning but made such cliches mistakes for such a strong divorce lawyer.
Jason was a really likable character. He was a professional baseball player who suffered through some very personal issues and wants the best for his grandmother. I liked his possessive stuff. However, I still felt like he was a little cliches in certain instances as well.
There was definitely some great qualities in this book – lots of witty banter, whimsical accidents, and a meddling grandmother.
Jason and Jessica have a love/hate relationship. Once these two get over themselves and realize that they are not the enemy, its a wonderful relationship. Both have trust issues and it hard to think that someone wants to do something nice just because. The sexual chemistry was off the charts.
