I WANT this book so bad in audio. You guys… this is the blurb:
The evil lies little girls are told…
There are hushed whispers about a wicked and decadent place known as the Palace of Lazar. A prince with insatiable tastes and the women who cater to it all. Feasts of pleasure, lust, and forbidden acts… all submitting to the sensual allure of the Harem.
But behind its bejeweled façade of luxury and pleasure lies a haunting and evil truth. A dark and perverse world that only the strong can survive.
A truth Cinder is about to learn when her fairytale dreams become twisted into a macabre masquerade of dancing vices.
Will she succumb to the demands of her current story, or cling to her fairytale ending?
EEEEEEEEE! This sounds AMAZING.
The Truth About Cinder is an exciting book; it is futuristic but past like also. Cinder is looking for her forever home, and that place is The Palace Of Lazar, which is a harem but supposed to be a haven for the woman. Little does Cinder know what she will have to go through to stay.
There is a LOT of stuff that goes down in this place, not only sexually, but a massive war also takes place. I enjoyed this story and the romance that takes place between Cinder and Donte.
Holy Erotic! The Truth About Cinder was very different than anything I’ve read before! It was very Sexy and New! I loved the survival atmosphere it had, It was intriguing and heart pounding. It has a very dark and deadly vibe that is terrifying. I really liked Cinder, she was brave and courageous with a taste for submission. The harem was interesting, you definitely have to read with an open mind. I liked that the prince was not a womanizer. I didn’t expect to get so emotional but I cried my little heart out reading a scene. It’s not something I would normally read, but I enjoyed it overall and read it in one sitting, too hooked to put it down. I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Donte a secret Prince hiding in the open. Cinder endured much hardship to get to the Palace of Lazar. Her only hope and dream to become part of the Prince’s harem. Donte is a strong dominate hero. Cinder is portrayed as being strong in the beginning but through most of the book at her core is a scared little girl. Cinder comes into her own as a strong submissive woman after enduring much running from Jaden’s army when Donte takes her to live in his quarters. Cinder finally becomes a woman who can stand by the Prince’s side yet be completely submitted to him. A good read.

The Truth About Cinder by Alta Hensley is a story written about a post apocalyptic world. A world where resources are dying. Small communities have formed and Cinder is trying to find the community that best suites her. She’s searching for a specific commune. And with determination she makes her journey over the baring wasteland.
I know when i read an Alta Hensley’s story I’ll be entertained and captivated by her unique story lines, her unique twists and turns, and the characters she creates. The Truth About Cinder was another interesting story that I devoured.
I really enjoyed the first half. The second part just didn’t make sense
I didn’t really like this book.
I was really excited about this book. I’ve read and enjoyed other book by this author and the start of this was good. I really enjoyed the idea of a harem instead of a RH, but it really feel flat for me. I was hoping for more heat, more link, more info on training but it seemed like that all went to the way side after a while.
I’m not saying that the book was horrible, just a lot different then I envisioned when reading the blurb. It really wasn’t all that erotic. The blurb talks about “A prince with insatiable tastes and the women who cater to it all. Feasts of pleasure, lust, and forbidden acts… all submitting to the sensual allure of the Harem.” And I feel like that mislead me when I dove into the book. It didn’t show any of this. The heat level was very tame with a small amount of anything really even sexual.
It wasn’t bad, had amazing action (until the final battle, that was really glossed over and anticlimactic) and a good plot but a lot different then I expected. I do plan to still read books by this author because I loved the world that she built in this book. It was different, described beautifully and the story was beautifully written. The overall theme just fell flat for me. 3 stars #2OCCJD
The Truth About Cinder by Alta Hensley is book One in the Evil Lies Series. This is a darker and hot take on the Cinderella Story line. Cinder is looking for her hot happy ending that leads her to look for the Palace of Lazar where a Prince is with taste that run steamy hot.
Hot and dark take on the Cinderella Story Line.
Cinder Briar has left her commune, Jaden, for the Palace of Lazar and what she believes will be a better life for herself. She plans to join the palace harem but has no real idea what the entails. Yet soon she finds herself falling for a man named Donte but she knows she has to stay true for the prince.
When she arrives at the palace she tries to settle into routine but the threat of the Jaden attacking leads her to the unknown. Can Cinder navigate carefully and be able to get to safety before she loses everything?
This was a good and dark book about surviving everything you are up against and trying to stay true for love.
I really liked Cinder and the strength she found within herself to find a better life for herself. She had to walk a great way with nothing really to protect herself to get to the castle and she did so with great conviction. I think she was really surprised when she got to the castle to see what she had to deal with and from the Mistresses that trained the girls – Krin, Tula and Lana.
I liked Donte and really believed he cared about Cinder but I was worried that he would end up putting Cinder in danger when I could see that the two were developing feelings for each other.
When the Jaden attacked I was definitely worried about Cinder and all of the girls. I was shocked at what Cinder did in order to protect the other girls and she had so much strength in her character. I liked that she was able to find Nico but things definitely went sideways and I was worried after Maysa.
I wondered if there was a spy after Casen was located but I was glad that the group was able to fight back. I was surprised at what was revealed and things began to make sense then with Cinder and her future.
I was so mad at Mistress Tula for what she did!
The end was great and I was happy for how things turned out!
4 and 1/2 stars
This is a dark and gritty retelling of Cinderella. Cinder is seeking a better life and finds her way to Lazar where a handsome prince resides with a harem of beautiful women. Cinder develops feelings for Donte but she’s there for the prince isn’t she? Before she can truly examine these feelings, threats are beating down their doors. When forced to flee, Cinder discovers who she is and what she wants. I definitely think this was a moment of growth for her. Yes it was crushing and yes she felt weaker than ever but she found something in that moment that strengthened her. I enjoyed this story and thought it was a great twist on an old classic. The ending was great and I loved the conclusion for Cinder and her friend Elbi.
This one I’m sorry to say wasn’t really for me a sort of kinky post-apocalyptic master /slave romance based kinda loosely on Cinderella, except it isn’t really that at all.
I mean we have cinders, a prince, a palace and some mistress sisters but that’s about the extent of it really.
I felt this didn’t know where it wanted to be at and at times encompassed too many different themes.
I think this would have fared better if we had stuck with one theme or the other instead of as many as we did.
I have read and enjoyed this author before and as you would expect this was as well written as her previous works just not really my bag.
So this is quite an erotic read that is told entirely from Cinders POV and the initial premise was initially intriguing.
This had some dark themes that some readers might struggle with but on the whole, this is not a massively dark story more of an erotic adventure.
Least favourite from this author but this was still well written just not for me.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Truth about Cinder.

I just stopped fanning myself! Cinder takes place in a post apocalyptic world. No rain, lack of water and food, all sand, as far as the eye can see. Cinder leaves her commune in search of the Palace of Lazar. To join the harem there. She nearly dies I. The vast desert in her search of Lazar. She becomes comfortable at the palace until her fairytale ending takes a different turn and an enemy commune attacks. She is asked by Donte to lead a group of the harem to the nearest commune til he can get to her. The life is the desert is harsh and cruel. Men have turned into savages and Cinder has to become strong mentally and physically to survive.
I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did! There is some graphic scenes but theres more story and world building. I enjoyed learning how Alta views what a post apocalyptic world will be like. If you’re hesitant to read this story like I was, stop hesitating and read it, you will enjoy it!
I recieved an ARC in exchange for an honest review! 4.5 stars
In this twisted fairytale in a apocalyptic world, Cinderella is looking for her Prince Charming.
Alta brings us a mix of apocalyptic Mad Max and fairytale eroticism similar to Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty trilogy, this is what I imagine the world Cinder lives in to be like.
A desolate, barren wasteland (think of Mad Max) that is basically out of resources where people are living in communes and she has the idea of more if she can make it to the Palace of Lazar where lush gardens live, water flows, and people flourish.
However, at the palace the secret whispered among the communes is that it is a place of lust and forbidden acts. Cinder would become one of the prince’s harem and she would be subject to his needs if and when she was called upon. Considering the alternative is to die in the wasteland, she takes the journey and heads to the palace. What she finds is even more than she imagined. Luxury, fulfillment, and a man she may never have. Only the Prince may lay claim to his harem, but what happens when she desires another?
Yes, the Palace of Lazar may be her fairytale come true, or it may be the end of everything she ever imagined.
This Cinder is definitely not your average Cinderella story! This is gritty and dirty in the best of ways. Cinder has been travelling, trying to find the Palace of Lazar. Once found it is all sorts of debauchery and kinky bliss, as well as some action that will keep you hooked!!
Loved this! Fabulous adventure and erotic romance all wrapped up in a fairy tale like story of dominance and submission. Donte and Cinder set this story on fire.

The story takes place in a post apocalyptic world. Food and water is scarce, Communes are over populated. The world is in survival mode. Cinder heard about a place called Palace of Lazar. Where women are are pampered and treated like jewels. – The storyline is filled with suspense, action, despair, plenty of twists and turns that kept me reading til the end. This was a different type of story then I ‘m use to reading from Alta Hensley. I received an arc of this book and this is my own personal opinion.
Life wasn’t easy nor nice to Cinder, but she knows what she wants and will even fight for it. Donte sees it in her and knows she hasich to offer. But in what way? *giggle*. You need to read it. Romance love and…willingness to be something more has never been so naughty but right. I highly recommend it to everyone!

I was expecting something much darker. However, I really enjoyed reading this story. It is well written, has great characters, a twist and an HEA. The world around Cinder is desolate, she’s heard of a beautiful place called the Palace of Lazar. She’s determined to cross the desolate land and find her way to the Palace. What will she find when she arrives at the Palace of Lazar? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book. The story is very well written and I enjoyed the characters. A great take on an old fairytale. I highly recommend reading.
