The Truth About Cinder was a story about what happens when the world is running out things and people struggle to find a place. With different communities each offering different options Cinder wanders trying to find a specific community.
There is a lot of struggle that requires so much strength. Will Cinder find what she is looking for?
Alta Hensley’s stories always entertain and capture the reader.
The Truth About Cinder is almost a mix between, Cinderella, and Mad Max. This is a tale about a post-apocalyptic world, in which Cinder has decided to brave the desert to find the Palace of Lazar. Something all in this world has heard of, but not many have seen.
Been thought of as myth by most, as the tellings are of a lush paradise, and the prince has his own harem, who are pampered, spoiled and trained in pleasure while being kept pure. In a dying world, the small things count
Cinder, wanting better for herself than the quickly drying up communes, see Lazar as her only choice. As are many things in the new world, nothing lasts. She’s not the only one to set her eye on Lazar and it’s harem. When Cinder has no choice but to fight, for her life, and her new way of living, will she be able to adapt yet again?
I loved this book, and the authors look at a dystopian type of world. She has a way of describing things that can almost put you there. I enjoyed the journey every step.
The Truth About Cinder is a twisted romance that deliciously dark, raw, naughty, sexy and gritty yet has the innocent fairy tale twist as only Alta Hensley knows how to keep the reader engaged and hooked and bringing them back for more. I can’t wait for more in this new series!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars ******
Get ready for a ride because this isn’t your average retelling of a fairytale. It’s a mash – up of Cinderella and a dark and dirty Arabian Nights. There’s no water in sight so expect to have a lot of steam with this read as Cinder wanders the desert in search of joining the Prince of the Lanzar’s harem. It’s not all oasises and rainbows in this desert, as Cinder soon learns the true strength in submission. Have no fear because there will be a HEA in sight.

This book started out really interesting. I enjoyed how the desert was portrayed with grim and despair. I was intrigued by the Palace of Lazar and Prince’s harem of perfect submissives.
However, I started to lose interest after they had to leave harem and palace. I was expecting more focus to be on the harem and their training for submission filled with dark debuchery. Instead, the story transformed into post-apocalyptic survival adventure.
I liked chemistry between Cinder and Donte and was glad they get their HEA. But I was hoping there would be more focus on their relationship and how he trained her to be his submissive.

This sure isn’t your mother’s Cinderella story. A new, darker twist on an old classic, the fairy tale and the end of the world as we know it collide and this is the result. If you’ve read some of this authors other ‘Twisted Fairytales’ you have a good idea of how the story will flow.
Things aren’t always what we’re lead to believe, and if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Cinder finds this out the hard way when she picks up and relocates from her commune. The reality isn’t quite what she envisioned, but through it all, she ends up discovering herself.
Adventure, well developed characters and the heat/tension that leaps off the pages are among a few of the reasons this book is well worth the read.
Not you normal fairytale story! This newest release was dark, but it had a rainbow at the end of its story. I loved that Cinder was such a strong character, she just sizzled with strength and perseverance with a hint of innocence. The storyline was never boring it was filled with action and gruesome scenes that will keep you guessing, but it also has the heat level with a side of unexpected sweetness. An enjoyable and entertaining read that has a HEA.
Alta Hensley gives us a setting where the world has become a desolate, sand-covered environment. Rain is a myth since the clouds can no longer produce moisture. The populace is scattered within communes and the worst of humanity is beginning to take over. Cinder left her birth commune for those very reasons. She’d grown up hearing the tales about “The Palace of Lazar” including the harem of women who were treated like jewels and pampered. That’s where she was going so she could live that life. But the fairy tale image she had in her mind didn’t match the reality of her life trying to get there. And then once she was there the reality didn’t last long. This is such a powerful, emotionally charged adventure with a strong plot running through the entire book. The main characters and even the side characters are filled with so much personality they become relatable. And the scenes of the harem training? So filled with heat you won’t want to miss any of those. This was such a great story and it would be interesting to follow some of the side characters in future tales. (Just a small hint here.) Absolutely a five star read! I received a copy of this book and this is my honest, voluntary review.
This story takes place in a world that has been devastated by famine, over-crowded communes, violence and devastation. Cinder decides to leave all this hatred behind to search for her “happily ever after.”
What exactly is a HEA? Is it peace and prosperity? Is it beautiful clothes and an exotic atmosphere? Can it be found in acceptance and love?
Cinder perseveres through hardship and pain. She searches and finds beauty and love. But, is this enough? Can she grow and learn by fighting for what she wants? Can she build her body and learn methods to enhance her power and control?
This book is intriguing, frightening and enlightening. Reading it is like taking part in an adventure full of pain, happiness and discovery
Although i love Altas books including this one, I felt it was lacking some of the steamingness her books usually have. The story itself was great. I always love the rags to riches stories as well as finding the strength within us. Her characters are always very interesting and detailed. The book had a lot of graphic war descriptions which was unsettling but added to the fear of the war. Explaining how serious the situation was. As always I eagerly await her next book.

really enjoyed this retelling , it was exciting from page one. Cinder had such strength and innocence to her with such a determination to just belong and wanted and I cheered her on every step of the way.
We get non stop action, a harem and a die for Prince Donte which was the sweetest man with so much patience for Cinder it will melt your heart. There are alot of gruesome details, and verý steamy scenes. Very well written and I really enjoyed this one.
This book is awesome! I loved every bit of it. Cinder is awesome. This was wickedly hot. I devoured every inch of this book and I didn’t want it to end. I can’t get enough of this.
The plot started out interesting, painting a bleak picture of what I assume to be the future. It tells the story of Cinder, who is looking for her nirvana, the Palace of Lazar. She eventually finds the palace and we see her meeting Donte, who is in charge of the prince’s harem and see her start to settle in. Trouble comes to paradise and Cinder and the harem have to leave, in search of a commune to await help. This is where I start to lose interest, not sure why. I usually like action/adventure, but could not get into the ending. I will still try other books by this author, though.

This was an enjoyable, dark apocalyptic type story. It’s set in a world where it no longer rains, and everything is in the desert, where people live in communes for their own safety and well being. I loved Donte and Cinder both, and really enjoyed seeing their relationship progress. I like how she ended the story too! All in all, it was a fun read!
This book had me ensnared for a while, and then it just got kind of crazy with everything going on. This post-apocalyptic desert romance was interesting in that this part of the world is nothing but sand, and communes were created and are over-crowded. Reading about Cinder’s journey to the Palace of Lazar is pretty interesting, and shows her strength, but then the inner-workings of the Palace, as well as what happens after kind of messes me up a bit. I lost interest in the story for a bit, but am glad that it did end with an HEA.
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Cinder has escaped her home land and has travelled across many comunes and deserts. She has drank her last of her water and food when she is exhausted and decides to give herself up to the land. Donte is the Prince of Lazar. Notany people know he is the king. He portrays himself as the overseer of the harem. He finds Cinder and brings her to palace. When she wakes she tells him she was on her way to the Palace of Lazar and wanted to be part of the harem. Everything transpires as it should but Donte pays more attention to Cinder. But war is coming and they must prepare.
This book turns the story of Cinderella on its head! Cinder (the MFC) is not a slave to her stepmother and her stepsisters in this book. Instead she is a strong-willed, determined woman. One through sheer will and countless communes is seeking out the palace of Lazar to join the princes harem there. To be trained in all things sexual by the Mistresses and Donte. Which brings on all levels of kinkiness and yes its very hot!! This book is a more adult version of the Cinderella fairytale and its a brilliant spin on it i think. A really good read too
This is not usually the type of book I read but I really liked it. I was expecting more sex seeing that it was classified as erotica and more darkness for the same reason. This book was well written and kept me reading all in 1 sitting. Was not disappointed.
A Cinderella story that’s been revised in an adult, dark, steamy, naughty way as only the talented Alta can do. I love fairy tales and dark, steamy ones are even better to read.
A very unique retelling of Cinderella. While nothing like the fairytale, it is much darker, it is easy to establish who the characters are. The story is very timely with all the problems with climate change, but it is also a real story with twists and turns and violence and love and most important of all, a happy ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
