A Laura Durham book is always fun and clever, and “The Truffle with Weddings” fits that bill perfectly.
Though the quirky characters dominate “The Truffle with Weddings,” the book—as with all of Durham’s stories—has a well-tuned plot. The zany sidekicks, often hilarious pranks and adventures, the sexy cop, snappy dialogue and quick pacing are comparable to a Janet Evanovich book, but Durham knows how to spin a tale and plot a course of action uniquely after her own fashion.
In “The Truffle” Annabelle the wedding planner meddles once more in her boyfriend’s homicide case. But she can’t help herself because one of the suspects is her best friend, Richard the excitable caterer. Richard, in a bid to bribe his way back onto a “Best of DC Caterers” list in an influential magazine, Capital Weddings, had delivered a box of Valentine’s Day chocolates to Marcie, the editor of the publication. Marcie, being on a diet, gave the box of candies to her assistant Marcus, who ate a poisoned cherry-filled truffle and died from the toxic nicotine in the candy. Naturally Annabelle must jump in and try to solve the case to protect Richard, especially after a newspaper article links him with prior murders.
All the time that Annabelle and crew are sleuthing around in DC trying to find the real killer, they are also trying to stage a Valentine’s Day themed wedding for a Valentine’s Day-obsessed and overly neurotic bride. Naturally there are conflicts and chaos. As Durham is a wedding planner as well as an author, these segments ring with authentic, behind the scenes realism and show off places of interest in the DC area.
A clean, clever, well-written cozy, and a welcomed addition to Durham’s ongoing Wedding Planner series.
Valentines Day is spoiled when someone gets a poisoned chocolate and Richard is suspect number one. It is up to Annabelle, a society wedding planner, to help her caterer friend out.
What a great cozy mystery, full of humour, wit and quirky characters. With subtle clues, several interesting suspects, romance, humour and suspense, this is a cozy mystery worth reading. The writing is great, the dialogue is wonderfully done and the mystery interesting. I look forward to more escapades of this cozy mystery series.
The characters and situations in this book are quirky, but still engaging and believable. The main characters are good and trustworthy friends. I enjoy reading about the wacky situations they run into when they try to make a perfect occasion for each of their brides.

Beware of cherry cordials! I wish Richard would come to my house to cook!
I love this series! So fun!
I don’t know what more I can say about Laura Durham and her wedding crew that I haven’t already said…she just cracks me up. The mysteries and writing are masterful too. I think Fern is my favorite character, but I love them all. Last night, as I lay reading in bed, I woke my husband up by laughing out loud. Several times. That doesn’t happen; usually I just laugh inside my head if something in a book Is funny, but no other book or series compares comically with Annabelle Archer and her crew’s escapades. I’m telling you, if you love a fun read, or if you just need a lot of laughs (and in this world, don’t we all?), then you, indeed, need to read this series. There’s another series out in the world where the author is trying to use the same wedding planner/mystery format, and perhaps I’d love it if I hadn’t already read Laura Durham, but it dulls in comparison. Laura, keep them coming, and hurry please. If you ever retire this series, I’m going to be devastated.
One of my favorite characters in this series is Annabelle’s best friend, Richard and he is prominent in this book. He keeps me laughing and the storyline keeps me reading. I absolutely love this series. Incredibly easy read due to the antics of the characters and the interesting aspects of the story.

This was the first book from this series that I have read. I will say that not having read any of the previous books, I was able to catch on to the characters and some of the past cases that they have had easily. I did feel as if the story moved slower than I would have liked, but it was still an enjoyable book. I was able to determine the method in which the murder was able to to take place, but It teetered back and forth on who the culprit was almost until the very end. I appreciated that. Overall the book was good, but I will read the other books in the series.

A fun read with entertaining characters. I love the wedding planner series.
I have to say that the only think I didn’t like about this book is when it was finished. I’m always sad to come to the end of one of Laura Durham’s books. She is a phenomenal story teller who gives enough detail to make you feel like you are there with the characters without overdoing it or losing you. I’m always looking forward to the next one. Loved that this was centered around Valentines day and all the craziness and love how Reece and Annabelle’s relationship is blooming. Even some drama thrown in as always. This might be one if not the favorite so far.

Laura Durham has done it again! Annabelle and friends are planning the Valentines Day wedding from you know where and then you guessed it MURDER! And poor Richard is among the suspects list again! Plus, staying out of the investigation is not Annabelle’s strong suit, even if she is living with her hot detective boyfriend, Reese. You have to come along for the ride on this one! Funny, sweet, and full of twists I didn’t see coming! A must read for all Laura Durham fans!

I’m a big fan of Laura Durham and the Annabelle Archer series. Book #12 is just a good as all the rest. Annabelle and her quirky friends are magnets for murder and mayhem and this time it’s one of her adorable, eccentric friend, Richard that’s in trouble, again. Someone was poisoned and pro multi-tasker, Annabelle has to keep hysterical Richard calm while trying to find out who really did it all while planning an over-the-top everything Valentine wedding. And what is she going to get her boyfriend for Valentine’s Day? And who’s going to be Kate’s Valentine date(s)? Guaranteed to make you laugh out loud!

Laura Durham has a unique gift that allows her to spin a story that has the reader on a roller coaster ride from the first word to the last. You will laugh and giggle (even if you are trying to be quiet), bite your nails, and possibly get paper cuts in your attempt to turn the pages faster! This story will not disappoint! It is close to Valentine’s Day and Annabelle has a wedding to plan that has her ready for Valentine’s to be over, but it is also her first Valentine’s with her boyfriend. If that isn’t enough to deal with her best friend is suspected of murder. Can Annabelle pull off the wedding, clear her best friend, AND figure out what to give her boyfriend for Valentine’s or will she become the murderer’s next victim? Read the book to find out!
This is part of the Annabelle Archer Wedding Planner Mystery series a book that had me laughing out loud as I read it. What a crazy group of people. What a sneaky murder. A well written Valentine themed book, a page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I always enjoy the Annabelle Archer books and the characters but this one kept me guessing until the end on the mystery portion. Well worth the wait and always worth the read :). I received an advanced copy to review but also purchased a copy to keep.
I love when a book I am reading makes me laugh out loud! Laura Durham’s stories do just that. All of the characters in The Truffles with Weddings are the same: Annabelle, Kate, Richard, Fern, Leatrice, Sydney Allen, Detective Reese, Buster and Mack with Prue and baby Merry that just joined the series after Marry & Bright.
It is Valentine’s weekend and with a wedding completely themed around Valentine’s Day with red and pink something is bound to happen. But first, last year Richard Gerard Catering was left off the best Catering list in the wedding industry. Richard buys chocolates to re-network his name out there. He feels that it might help his failing business. One of his boxes is poisoned and someone dies. Richard wants to run away after he is taken downtown and questioned. Annabelle and Kate stop him from leaving town and find out all they can to help clear their friend of murder. Annabelle is thrown for a loop when Leatrice has a heart attack and she finds out she is to make all of Leatrice’s medical decisions. What else can happen to Annabelle and Kate? Will Leatrice be okay?

Poor Richard…Our favorite Diva of catering finds himself in Truffles (trouble), again! This was a witty story with a mystery rolled into one. What with a valentine overload wedding theme along with a (#spoiler) Leatrice scare that brings out a side of Richard that even Annabelle did not know about, makes this book a page-turner. The twists and turns keep you guessing at who the real killer really is. Great read!

I really enjoyed this book and the madcap nature of the wedding planning world. Laura Durham uses her own background as a planner to create wonderfully diverse characters that I wouldn’t mind hanging around with myself. This is the first book I’ve read in the series and had no trouble following along, but I did start reading the first book so I could see the evolution of Annabelle’s story. I loved the descriptions of the elaborate decorations and what it takes to create them, as well as all the behind-the-scenes activity of pulling off a wedding. The story was solid and the pacing perfect. I also liked the unconventional way she goes about solving who poisoned the chocolates and why.

Annabelle and Kate are back on the job with an overly themed Valentine wedding. Richard an oft-time caterer has been left off the wedding vendor list and is leaving everyone Valentine candy gifts to keep his name in the market. Who would know that one of the candies would be poisoned? Annabelle and her boyfriend/policeman Reese are on the job.
Great book in a great series.
