I loved this book about the Rixon Raiders. This book made me laugh and cry my heart out for Cam on so many levels. Him and Hailee finally get it together and their feeling for each other. All I am going to say is the ending shocked me because I didn’t see that coming and I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens. If you loved the Wicked Bay Series like I do than you will love L. A. Cotton’s Rixon Raiders Series.
Wow is all I can truly say!! It was my first read from this author and I’m just at a loss for words. I absolutely loved it from beginning until end and couldn’t stop reading. If you love high school romance/angsty books, this one is definitely for you. But then again, even if you wouldn’t be into high school books, the way the story was written and deals with a lot of things, you would end up falling for it too. I laughed, I cried and had so many feelings go through me when reading. The angst and emotions were just so palpable, you couldn’t help but root for Hailee, definitely in those toughest moments were my heart truly broke for her. And even if you hated Cameron at times, you couldn’t help but feel that there was so much more than meets the eye… I cannot wait to read the second one in this series!
Hailee and her stepbrother Jason cannot walk through the same door and the things they have put each other through in the past years, you couldn’t imagine them ever being able to get along. With football being the first priority in her family, there’s nothing she wants to do with it and definitely not with her stepbrother’s best friend Cameron. When Hailee gets caught in between the war that’s going on between Jason’s team and their rival team, it’ll be the beginning of a whole other dimension in their war path… But there is so much more than meets the eye and when things from the past come to the surface, not only Hailee but also Cameron will have to make a decision that could change it all… but with Jason being on the warpath, choices will have to be made and they all will have to decide which side they are truly on… Will it be enough for Hailee and Cameron to see that there’s so more to everything and maybe, just maybe, they can see that their bond is changing it all…
Hating each other never felt so good
The Trouble With You is the first book in the brand new Rixon Raiders series from L.A Cotton and man is this book amazing!!! Enemies to lovers/bully romances are my FAVORITE trope with football romances being a close second and this book had it all! I could not put it down. Hailee and Cameron consumed me from start to finish.
Enemies-to-lovers
Football alphaholes
Angst
Strong girls
School rivalry
Best friend’s sister
Sports romance
Hailee Raine despises school spirit, football, and all that comes with it, especially her town’s star quarterback and new stepbrother, Jason. Jason has made it his mission to make Hailee miserable and that includes using his right hand man and star wide receiver Cameron Chase to help make this happen.
I LOVED Hailee’s strength and her take no crap attitude. She stood tall and didn’t back down from a challenge, giving back even better than she got sometimes. While Cameron wasn’t nearly as cruel as Jason, Hailee’s conflicted feelings for him were completely justified. The chemistry between them was scorching, the delicious slow burn and constant push and pull kept the fire stoked and the pages turning. At times Cameron seemed to be protecting her while other times, he helped Jason bully her.
My love for Cameron runs deep. He held the weight of the world on his shoulders and didn’t tell a soul. His whole life has revolved around football and focusing on getting a scholarship to play, but when other situations need his attention, he doesn’t know which way to go, what he really wants anymore, or who he can turn to. His internal struggles were real and something im sure many kids deal with on a daily basis. When Hailee steps in giving him the shoulder he needs to lean on, lines get blurred and that hate soon turns in to so much more.
I’d never kissed anyone like this. It was fire and ice. Two opposites coming together with dangerous consequences.
This book is L.A. Cotton at her finest. The angst, the drama, the pranks, the push and pull; I couldn’t get enough. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Jason and Flick next in book two, The Game You Play
I loved Cameron and Haliee together. I also loved that Haliee never backed down from a prank. She gave as good as she got. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
This is the first in a new series from this gifted author, and what an absolutely brilliant introduction this is!! Hailee stepbrother lives to make her life miserable, but she gives as good as she gets, which lead to humorous shenanigans. Cameron is her stepbrother’s best friend, and he knows that she is off limits; that is until undeniable chemistry changes these enemies / friends and more. This is a beautifully written story which is emotional, steamy, and humorous, with drama and witty banter. I cannot wait to read more in this phenomenal series, and I highly recommend for all.
Great start to a new series. Enjoyable plot with likeable characters. Waiting for the next book to release. This author is wonderful at writing sports romance & angsty stories.
My god, that was AMAZING!!!! If I could give The Trouble with You 100 stars, I would. Hailee is my hero! I love her fiercely. Oh and Cameron is so swoon worthy it hurts my heart. The connection between Hailee and Cameron is undeniable. Their story will have hate, pain and love but what great love story doesn’t.
The first page had me snickering with Jason and Hailee’s antics. TTWY has many real life situations. Lianne did a fantastic job bringing this book to life. It should become a movie. TTWY has a little bit of everything happening but it’s not overwhelming, it will keep you on your toes. You will feel all kinds of emotions and mske sure to have a box of tissues nearby. I got teary eyed a couple of times. I need more of the Raiders ASAP!!! I am in a book funk. All I can think about are these characters especially with that ending in this book. #IwouldrideaRaider #ineedmore #HailleandCameronrideordie #IlovetheRaiders
If you are fan of sports romances or enemies-to-lovers or both The Trouble with You is a MUST READ.
The book was filled with drama, angst, hate, hot and sweet moments. It truly had everything and completely sucked you into the story.
Hailee is the odd one out, the entire school pretty much avoids her thanks to her step brother, Jason. The two of them truly hated each other and would do anything they could to mess with each other. Of course, Hailee had her best friend Felicity (aka Flick) on her side. Her friend was kind of the outcast by association but it’s their senior year and she wants to enjoy it. Hailee, isn’t too keen on the idea. Jason, has his two best friends Asher and Cameron. They go along with Jason’s crazy ideas, but they also try to keep him in check, especially Cameron.
I love Hailee and Cameron. There is chemistry between them. Though, Cameron had also played some hurtful pranks on Hailee in the past. She thought they would be friends, but he sided with Jason. Their romance was a slow burn that was filled with angst.
I loved their group of friends, yes even Jason. This can be read as a standalone, but it also does a great job of introducing the other characters for the future and leaving you wanting to know more. I can’t wait to see what happens with Jason and Flick’s story and I can’t wait to get more of Hailee and Cam and of course, Asher!
“Does hating me feel as good for you as it does for me?”
Gaaaah! I live for angsty YA romance novels and The Trouble With You is brilliant! L.A. Cotton got me completely hooked with this story and it’s the perfect start to the new series. It includes everything I crave in this kind of book: wonderfully created characters, interesting storyline, angst, steam, but also swoon-worthy moments. I couldn’t put this book down, it got me so engrossed! And I know that I just finished with the first story in the series, but I can’t wait for the next one! I’m so impatient that I wonder how can I bribe the author to get at least a sneek peak. Home-made cookies? My first-born? I need to know!
Hailee’s life is pretty complicated, because day after day she’s bullied by her jock step-brother and his teammates. Only one year left to graduation, she just needs to survive it and she’ll be free. Unfortunately it’s not easy, when said step-brother and his friends are like the legends in the town that breathes and lives football. And the one thing Hailee hates the most is exactly this sport. But the need to get away from her reality and reckless decisions turn the course of events to worse and Hailee finds herself in the crossfire. And she couldn’t guess that her brother’s best friend Cameron will turn out to be her protector. Even when at the same time he was her tormentor for years.
Hailee is a perfect young heroine. She’s though, fierce and brave. She doesn’t let anyone push her around and she gives as much as she gets. Although she appears hardened, we can see that she has a soft and vulnerable side too. And despite all the wrongs that happened to her, she has so much love to give. I really adore her.
Cameron is like a chameleon. For his teammates and football fans he’s a typical jock- arogant, cocky and smug. But behind the closed door he’s caring, loving brother and son, who would sacrifice everything for his loved ones. Maybe his methods to protect Hailee were not well thought out and harsh, but after knowing what could happen if he wouldn’t take these steps, we can in some way understand his choices. His vulnerable side was breaking my heart and I wanted to crawl into this book and hug him tight. When he finally found the guts to stand up to his friend I fell for him hard. Because he has become a perfect boyfriend and I couldn’t get enough of him and Hails together.
The Trouble With You is a phenomenal enemies-to-lovers story filled to the brim with tension, mixed feelings and drama. It’s also a great sports romance, where football is not just a background- it’s an integral part of this book. If you’re looking for a bully romance- don’t hesitate! This book is the very essence of angsty YA. It will give you all the feels- chapter after chapter it warms the heart more and more. L.A. Cotton created my newest addiction, because I’m gonna reach for every single one book in this series.
GO RAIDERS!
I just DEVOURED this book! I could not put it down. This slow-burn, angsty, new adult romance will have you drowning in a major book hangover!
““Whatever you say, Sunshine.” He had to have the last words. “But just remember, Hailee.” My name on his lips made my stomach do a little flip. “You can run but you can’t hide.””
High School Drama
Irresistible Attraction
Angst
Alpha Bullies
Trouble With You is a must-read!! It is a slow-burn, enemies to lovers, high school romance. I loved Cameron and Hailee’s back and forth!! The push and pull of their relationship had me biting my nails and yelling at my phone!
There were two things I didn’t like about this book.. One, I am in a MAJOR book hangover. Like….. MAJOR. Two, I still have so many questions! How can I possibly wait for book two?!
Bravo Lianne, this book was incredible! I can not wait to see where you take this series! I really enjoyed book one! You deserve all the stars!!
Varsity Blues meets She’s All That meets 10 Things I Hate About You is the vibe I got with this book. However, if this book was made into a movie, it would be so much more than those three movies combined. This was the first book I have read by L.A. Cotton and I am craving more! The characters are well developed, easy to relate to, and very intriguing. I love when the heroine is feisty and stands up for herself and a hero who keeps fighting for what he wants. This book had me laughing, crying, angry, and giddy. If you love sports romance and high school drama and even if you don’t, I highly recommend this book. It was easily my favorite read this June! Left me wanting more and more and more!
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This story is fast paced, drama filled, football, step sibling that try to best one another, jocks, friendship, young love, and angst. Basically everything that I look for in a book. From the first page, I was kept intrigued, the twists kept me guessing that I couldn’t put it down. The characters were developed, and likeable for the most part. I will say that there is some bullying. Hailee is my go girl, I liked her strength, and wittiness. But at times I wanted to smack her for being so foolish. The Trouble with You is a nice start to the Rioxin Raiders series, and I’m looking forward to the next book.
Hailee Raine is counting down the days until she can say goodbye to Rixon High and all the painful memories it holds. With constantly being tormented by her step-brother Jason and his annoying friends, and being the victim of their pranks, they have ruined any hope she had at enjoying her time in high school. And unfortunately her home life isn’t much better, what happens at school always follows her home, and more times than not she ends up feeling like the enemy in her own home.
When her mother married Jason’s dad she had a small glimmer of hope that she’d finally have a family to call her own, but Jason had other ideas and turned against her the day her and her mom moved in. Then she met Cameron Chase, Jason’s friend, and she thought she might finally have an ally in Jason’s world, but that thought didn’t last long… he too was turned against her.
But that didn’t stop her from admiring Cameron from afar, as much as she would like to dislike him and all he stands for, she can’t help but want to be near him. He draws her in like a moth to a flame, but every time she gets just within reaching distance, he does something that pushes her away. That is until now… the tables have now turned and Cameron is the one seeking her out, question is can she trust him enough to let him get close?
The Trouble with You is an dramatic and angst-filled little page-turner that will capture your attention from the very first page and hold it hostage until the last. With drama being stirred up at every turn you can help but get wrapped up in the lives of these characters, and feel for them every step of the way. This heartfelt story follows the lives of Hailee and Cameron, an unlikely couple that are thrown together by a matter of circumstance, but constantly drawn to on another by unexpected attraction. As much as Hailee detested Cameron and all he stood for, she just couldn’t seem to resist him, he was everything she hated, but loved too. These two circled around each other for darn near the whole book, their attraction creating a slow burn romance, one that had the angst at an all time high. I loved this story for so many reasons, it had the soul penetrating angst I crave, the tragic love story that really torments the heart, and the drama that kept me coming back for more. I have to say it is one of my favorite first reads to date, the story line was perfectly penned, and the characters were unforgettable!! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
So, I started this book this morning, not knowing what to expect, because this is a new to me author.
I finished this evening. What does that tell you? Yes! I freaking LOVED this book!
This is totally everything LA tells you before.
– (Step-) Brothers best friend
– Slow burn
– enemies to lovers
– Angst
– Football
– school rivalry – heck yes
– and last but not least: brave tough young ladies
Hailee hates her step-brother Jason with all her heart. And so does he. Hate her. Despise her. Mocking her. Pranking her every time possible. And not just him. His two best friends with him.
And than there’s Cameron. Jason’s best friend. Trying to look out for her. But does Jason let him. Because Hailee is off limits. To everyone!
Wow, LA Cotton hit a jackpot with this starting book for a new series! Absolutely fantastic!
I can’t wait for the next book!
I kindly received an arc for an honest review
Well this is my first book by L.A. Cotton and now I am a fan. Cameron and Hailee enemies to lovers story captivated me and I am so in for them. Football players, school rivalry, one girl in between. Yes this story is about it all. A definitely 5 star top read!
These are the books that I love and when they are done this well it gets me so excited for others to read this book and I am now hanging for the next book. The way this book ended so can’t wait for The Game You Play.
This had it all enemies to lovers, drama, a nasty step brother, the best friend everyone loves and just an amazing YA story.
I loved Haliee she was a lovely character but even if it wasn’t her she still stood up for herself and the people she loved, she learn’t that she didn’t always get it right but she was a strong character. Haliee went through so much and at the cost of her step brothers rivalry and her brothers best friend.
Cameron he was such a complex character, you hated him, loved him then hated him and again and then finally you learn to love him, the thing with Cameron he had so much going on and I was just hanging to find out what was happening with his family and wanting to know his struggles.
I loved the chemistry between Hailee and Cameron and you could see how they could work as the book continued but the back and forth and hatred pouring off these pages and me so enthralled in the story.
One of my favourites by La Cotton absolutely loved it massive 5 Rixon Stars for me.
“I know it doesn’t make any sense, Hailee, but I didn’t choose him, I chose you.”
Enemies to lovers, slow burn that turns explosive. Fantastic read.
The world building was fantastic. The story had so many layers..amazing set up for the series.
Cameron..truly a white knight that struggled with his loyalty to his best friend and his long time infatuation with his BFF step sister.
I can’t say anything bad about this book.
I’m ready for more RAIDERS!

Wow what amazing read that will have you hanging on to every word and hooked to every page as this is a love story that ford will fight for because he still has the love for his fox that has never gone away. Ford needs his fox and will keep watching over his love when he was younger. This man will show the fox that he can love her differently and that their love is still strong and epic. This is a very heart warming love story that will have you needing more for this story.
A new series and a new bunch of characters to obsess over. Hailee and Jason are very reluctant step siblings who couldn’t be more different. Jason Is the star jock and Hailee the quiet girl who loves art. Cameron is Jason’s buddy and also someone with secrets.
I loved Hailee she is such a strong character. How she doesn’t break with everything that happens I don’t know. Once Cameron gets his head out his ass my opinion of him changed. I’m not sure who I loathed more Jason or Hailee’s mum. Kids can be so cruel but Jason is brutal.
As I’ve come to expect from this author the angst is on speed dial. Despite the romance being slow burn this is a fast paced book. The ending sets up the premise for book two perfectly. Can Jason be redeemed in my eyes, who knows. He can’t get any worse. Can he?
Wow! I didn’t honestly think I could love a book anymore than the Wicked Bay series from this author, this book has exceeded all expectations. Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I just need more now.
