Once you start ..you just can’t stop reading. It’s high school senior year for Hailee, her best friend Felicity, her step brother Jason and his two best friends Cameron and Asher. Hailee is a beautiful, talented, strong and tough girl and survived all the pranks that Jason and his best friends had pulled on her for the past six years. Jason, Asher and Cameron are part of the school’s football team, Raiders. Jason is a star quarterback and Cameron is the wide receiver. Hailee doesn’t have many friends or go on any dates since Jason had declared her to be off limits. Cameron has feelings for Hailee but can’t express his feelings because of his friendship with Jason. It was a love hate relationship between them. Will Cameron and Hailee overcome their issues? This is the first book of this series. Can’t wait for the next book!
All Hailee wants to do is get through her last year of high school unscathed. She would be happy to have nothing to do with football or the team but not only does the team control the school, but they control the town as well. To make matters worse she has to live with Jase, the person who loves making her life as difficult as possible, who isn’t only the quarterback but her stepbrother as well.
Cameron is not only the wide receiver for the team but Jase’s best friend as well. He is conflicted when it comes to Hailee as he is attracted to her but knows that she is strictly hands off. To further complicate matters he is usually drawn in on the antics that Jase inflicts on Hailee even if he doesn’t really want to.
As Cameron’s family life becomes difficult it is Hailee who sees beneath his persona to the man underneath and she becomes his confidant but if a choice must be made will he choose Jase and his team or Hailee?
This is a wonderful beginning to a new series that leaves us craving more of Rixon’s Raiders. Hailee is so much stronger than she appears, and Cameron is so much more than an arrogant jock. Full of emotion this enemies to lovers story is a winner for me.
You know when you are up at 3AM to finish a book that it is amazing.
Hailee was so independent, genuine, and had a wall built around her feelings a mile high. She was hardened from years of putting up with her stepbrother’s and his friend’s antics and pranks. She rarely showed her emotions and was always up for payback.
Cameron has more responsibility and stress than any kid should. He is wanting to please everyone and is being stretched thin. However he is still a teenage boy. He follows peer pressure, bullies friend’s step sisters, and helps runs the school.
These two have a hate relationship. They have years of pranks and resentment that has built up making it impossible to believe certain actions. Hailee definitely second guesses everything that happens.
I love this group of friends and enemies. They are always trying to get the best of one another, and the heartbreak and events that pull them together make them an unlikely, but fun group.
There was one incident that occurs in the book that was mainly brushed over. In real life, I would hope that more action against this character would be taken, but I got the feeling that this person will eventually get the punishment he deserves in future books. Even though it wasn’t handled fully, it did not deter from the overall greatness of the book.
I am so excited to see what happens with the rest of the friends. I feel like their stories are going to be filled with even more shenanigans, angst, and secrets!

Five off-limits stars! This YA/NA romance is Addictive with capital A! Go Raiders!
Sometimes the perfect book to choose is the one that calls you from the bookshelf of a bookstore, with a flawless cover and intriguing synopsis. And if the author is new to you, it’s a bonus cherry. The Trouble with You was my first foray into the fabulous trademark of angsty and young romance, addictive writing and edgy stories from L.A. Colton. It made an extraordinary impression on me. It made me remember those days when I was in college. Full of cute and sexy moments, drama, highs and lows, tension and teenage angst; a dangerous and powerful combination that blew my mind.
Lately the YA/NA romance has become one of my favourites genres and it is highly refreshing to read such beautiful masterpiece as The Trouble with You. A memorable tale. A big touchdown. A slow burn romance. An enticing young adult romance filled with wonderful characters, intense chemistry and humour. A bittersweet enemies to lovers romance; fiery hot and sweet. A raw, inhibited tale with the right amount of angst and drama that made this book BEAUTIFUL perfection.
I love every little detail about this book with a strong football spirit and where football players are treated like royalty. Such a truly fascinating and consuming romance that made me ache for more because Hailee and Cameron’s story rocked my world. Secrets, loyalty and love. I’m still floating. It is the epitome of a great high school romance. Where the heroine is free spirited, artsy and hates football and the hero is an arsehole with capital letters, a football star whose mission is to torment her. They are deliciously opposite. Tormentor and prey. Sassy attitude and arrogance. Hot and cold. Hate and Love. Those are Hailee and Cameron.
Enemies to Lovers—-there was many times I thought they would kill each other and other times there chemistry was off the charts.
Cameron and Jase have always made Hailee’s life miserable. When their enemy sets sights on her some things change.
This is a must read because
– Enemies to lovers
– Awesome chemistry between Cameron and Hailee
-Angst, angst and more angst
-Awesome secondary characters – more to the story lays there
– Plenty of drama between characters
-Plenty of romance and swooniness
The Trouble with You is book 1 in the new Rixon Raiders series and my first by this author. And it definitely won’t be my last!
When I first read the blurb I was expecting an enemies-to-lovers sports romance, but what I got was so much more. Angst & drama filled, this book takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions I never wanted to get off.
Hailee has spent the past 6 years being tormented by her stepbrother and his friends, and she’s finally had enough. Determined to make the most of her senior year and finally get away from Jason and the town that adores him, she’s not prepared for what, or who lies in her path to freedom.
Cameron is the Raiders star wide receiver, ready to take home the state championship with his friends and ensure his path to a college football career. But one thing stands in his way, and it might jeopardize his friendship and everything he’s worked towards.
I really enjoyed Hailee & Cameron! Their chemistry was undeniable, and the back and forth made the end that much sweeter. They both grew as characters, and I definitely fell in love with Cameron about half way through the book! The storyline had a touch too much drama, and while I normally would have been turned off by it I think it was actually the perfect amount needed to make this book the success it is. I adored Asher, and while one character really rubbed me the wrong way (not telling – I think I might be the only one with this opinion) I’m excited for the rest of this series and to see how everyone’s stories turn out!
If you love angst, off the charts chemistry and a good dose of football then I highly recommend this book!
5 Stars
The Trouble with You by L.A. Cotton is the first book in The Rixon Riders series. It is told in dual POV and can be read as a standalone. For me, it had everything that I love and want in a book. It is a new adult novel, has high school drama, angst, hot football players, enemies to lovers, bullies and an a@@ole stepbrother.
It is my first time read from this author and I was hooked. The writing was perfect, the build and the story were flawless. The secondary characters were perfect. If you are a football player, and especially, a Rixon Rider, you are Royalty. You have the town at your feet, at your mercies. Especially in a town were everyone breathes football.
Hailee may seem just another ordinary teenage girl, but it’s not. She loves to paint and she just wants to finish her senior year in high school to get out of town, far away from hell. Hailee’s hell has one single name written on it: Rixon Riders. She is the only girl in town, actually, the only person in town that hates football and the Rixon Riders. Jason, Cameron, and Ash are Hailee’s nightmare. And it’s all courtesy of Jason, Hailee’s stepbrother.
It all started six years ago when Hailee’s mother moved in with Jason’s father. Jason hated her since then and he never stopped making Hailee’s life hell. At first, I thought that this is going to be a stepbrother romance…It wasn’t. But Jason plays an important part in this story.
Cameron is Jason’s best friend and his teammate. On the field they are invincible. Football player, star of high school and town, playboy, royalty in town, Cameron takes part in almost all of Jasons pranks against his stepsister, Hailee.
It’s been six years of bullying, but now, Hailee is hard as a rock. Nothing and no one can break her anymore. She wants revenge, but she is tired of fighting. She wants to back down, she wants to have pace, but she is scared to trust Jason or his friends and their actions…But fate has other plans. The only one who can break her is Cameron. Will he succeed, or he will kneel in front of her?
Hailee was brave, smart, talented, fierce, sassy, but also sweet and vulnerable. Cameron was cocky, smug, arrogant a@@ole, but he was also sweet and vulnerable…They were perfect for each other.
I must say that I was expecting it to be a dark story, but I hope Jason’s story gets there. I can’t wait! I love Cameron and Hailee, they were awesome together, sweet and hot, but I have a soft spot for Jason.
I highly recommend this book!

The Trouble with You is the first book in the Rixon Raiders series written by author L.A. Cotton. Each book in the series focuses on a different couple and is told in a dual POV. This story is full of angst, drama, and lots of high school pranks that go wildly out of control.
Hailee Raine is starting her senior year of high school along with her step-brother Jason Ford. Jason is the star quarterback for the Rixon Raiders, and he’s completely focused on the game and getting accepted to Penn State. Oh, and also making Hailee’s life extremely difficult.
Cameron Chase and Asher Bennet are both leaders on the football team, and they are best friends with Jason. Cameron and Asher both tend to go along with whatever scheme Jason is up to. But when the teasing goes too far, Cameron begins to question everything.
The Trouble With You was so addictive that I became completely immersed in the story. There were so many twists and turns, just couldn’t get enough of Cameron and Hailee!

OMG. This book was so so good, Lianne, THANK YOU, you reminded me of how good a sports story romance can be.
Where do I start?? I loooved Hailee she’s such a brave character and doesn’t mind what others think of her. She’s so strong, genuine and is always up for a good challenge.
Her passion for art is so beautiful to witness in this book, it’s a scape from everything; the world and all of her problems.
Cameron, ugh I wanna hug him so bad. Besides being a hottie and a successful quarterback (dayumm) It’s the way he cares about the others that I loved the most about him. The star, the successful football player whom everyone counts on until some big news makes him rethink what he wants to do in life and what he stands for. Will he fight for the girl of his dreams or choose his best friend instead??
The passion, angst, attraction, and foreplay they have it’s off the charts!!! I wanted to scream at him, c’ mon Cameron!!! MAKE A MOVE!!! Don’t be afraid to follow your heart! And Hailee YOU DO love him!!! You only have to admit it to yourself!!!
Ugh such a good story!!! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!!
I voluntarily received an ARC from the author
What an awesome book!! I’ve been on a high school bully kick for a while now and I’ve got to say this book is one of my top favorites!! I LOVE Hailee and Cameron!! I love that Hailee gives as good as she gets-she pranks right back. I love a strong heroine in the bully books. And a swoony football player? Yes please!! I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of these guys!!
This is an entertaining, well written book with good pacing and angst that keeps you intrigued. It’s a story revolving around a group of teenagers at the crossroads of their lives. As the story unfolds we discover the issues buried underneath the false façade presented by each character. While each character deals with their issues they discover how much friendship and families really matter, the true importance of life.
The main character, Hailee is stuck in a small town that lives for football, the very sport she abhors. Hailee is the quiet type that prefers to lose herself in her artistic world. She isn’t interested in fitting in or having anything to do with what is deemed popular in high school.
But it is their senior year, the year homecoming and all its festivities are highlights everyone should experience. And that is exactly what her best friend wants to do. That means Hailee has to also, putting her directly in the path of everything she’s always avoided. The greatest being, Jason her popular quarter back step-brother. It’s been pure torture living with a step brother who hates her very existence and always has. She only has to hang in there one more year, then she can leave. Will she survive it?
It’s one humiliating prank after another. But Hailee isn’t one to sit back and suffer fools, she’s quick as a whip and can give as good as she gets. Which leads to some very creative pranks that progressively become more humiliating and hurtful than humorous. All of this begins to unravel revealing Jason’s true issue.
To make matters worse Hailee is falling for her step-brother’s best friend. She’s determined to avoid him at all costs. But he isn’t taking no for an answer.
The story peels back layers revealing more about each character and the issues plaguing their individual lives. Additionally, the football team rivalries heat up, quickly brewing trouble for Hailee and Jason.
The author did a great job revealing the depth and complexity of each character. I especially appreciated the strength the author gave Hailee. The antics between the rivalries went a bit too far and in the real world would have involved the police. But keeping in mind it is fictional, it is easily overlooked and doesn’t deter from the enjoyment of the story. An entertaining story.
I read and ARC of this story. My fair and honest review is voluntary.
I love a good YA book and L.A Cotton definitely delivers it with The Trouble With You.
Cameron and Hailee have such great chemistry. This enemies to lovers, bully romance has it all. So much angst! So much drama! It will have you hooked and wanting more.
Lianne has created a book that will have you captivated. This series is one not to be missed!
Holy book hangover Batman. This type of book is my total kindle crack and it did not disappoint.
I love that Hailee did not lay down and take any of the bullying coming her way. She was feisty, strong, and sassy. She holds her own and stays true to herself against everything that came her way.
Chase, though a jockhole you want to throat punch at times still has you pulling to get his stuff together and win Hailee’s heart.
I need the next Raider book like RIGHT NOW!
The Trouble With You is a stand-alone high school bully romance set in the midst of a football crazed town and a lot of family drama. It’s both angsty and filled with buckets of plot twists and shocking revelations. I really enjoyed the storyline but my favorite aspect of this book was probably the building of the book world and sub-characters. The author has really done her part to craft a solid group that you can’t help but want to follow and read about.
Hailee and Cameron have great palpable chemistry that flew off the pages. I enjoyed their banter, their spark and their shared history. I’m not sure what it says about me and my taste in books that I didn’t really consider Cam to be Hailee’s actual bully. It was pretty easy to forgive his transgressions in the end, he had his own reasons for his whiplash behavior and I was perfectly fine with the way everything played out. It’s going to take some major attitude adjustments and growth for me to be okay with Jason though, but I can’t wait to get inside his head.
This is a solid bully read and I really enjoyed the story. It’s also a sports romance which was refreshing because a lot of similar books in the genre shy away from focusing in on a team sport and I loved that aspect. Plus, football is my jam. I would recommend this book to all lovers of the trope.
GAH! Can I just give this book ALL OF THE STARS? The Trouble With You was AMAZING! It was filled to the brim with angst, drama, secrets, loyalty and love. It’s everything that you could possibly want in a high school romance, and it absolutely rocked my world! L.A. Cotton has quickly moved to the top of my list of go to authors. She really delivers with this angsty, slow-burn, forbidden YA romance that instantly left me yearning for more.
The story follows Hailee as she starts her senior year of high school along with her BFF Felicity. She is strong-willed, artistically inclined and free-spirited, living in a town that lives and breathes football. The Rixon Raiders to be specific, but she doesn’t want anything to do with that life. Especially not when the players such as her stepbrother Jase are constantly bullying her and playing pranks. But let me tell you, she’s a real spitfire and gives as good as she gets.
Cameron is Jase’s best friend and for years has kept his crush on Hailee under wraps. Jase made it clear from the very beginning that she is strictly off-limits to all of his buddies. So he just goes along for the ride with all of Jase’s endless pranks. Cameron is then hit hard with the news that his mom is pretty sick. This really takes a toll on him as he is already dealing with the pressures of football and rivalry with the East team. The stress becomes too much, and he turns to Haillee who becomes his source of strength as well as so much more.
I absolutely loved Cameron and Hailee! The chemistry was hot and the tension palpable between them. Their story was wonderfully written, well paced and pure slow-burn perfection! All in all, The Trouble With You was addicting, intense, all-consuming, and I could not put it down. It’s definitely not one to miss, and worth every penny you spend!
Obliterating The Lines
A new adult romance that will make you remember the heartache of high school drama and the butterflies of first love. These characters will keep you wanting more!
There is a fine line between love and hate. That line was just obliterated by the inferno brewing between Cameron and Hailee. So many reasons to keep their distance, only one to forget why they were supposed to.
She was his best friend’s hated step-sister. He was the guy who made her life hell. They’d been enemies for so long, it was difficult to imagine anything else. However, the pull between them could not be ignored. Screw the consequences…these two couldn’t stay away.
This story drew me in with the characters. Hailee was just wonderful. She was her own person, didn’t really care what other people thought and could hold her own against her jerk of a step-brother Jason. She didn’t care about being cool. She just did her own thing. Cameron was a jock, football star and went along with Jason even when he shouldn’t have, but he had his reasons. He was carrying alot of baggage and life was changing his perspective. He’s the level headed one of his friend trio and he’s actually a good guy. You can’t help but love him.
This is an enemies-to-lovers story of discovery; figuring out what’s important, questioning who you are or who you want to be and most importantly where you want to end up. It was filled with angst, heartache, uncertainty and ultimately love. A great cast of characters to learn more about down the line. I am already invested and I cannot wait to read more in the series.
The drama! The Angst! The battles! The secrets! The swooooooon! Whew, this book is one hell of a ride! L.A. Cotton starts off the Rixon Raiders with one heck of a bang in The Trouble With You. I carried this book around with me all day reading because I didn’t want to look away for even a second. Every second something was happening, whether that was the war that exists between Hailee and her stepbrother Jason or Hailee falling for the “enemy” better known as Jason’s best friend Cameron.
I was so sucked into the lives of these young adults in the football obsessed town you couldn’t have pulled me back to reality if you tried. Typically I’m not a big fan of lots of drama but L.A. Cotton has this down to a fine art. It was entirely captivating. Keeping me on edge, needing to know what could possibly be coming next all the while unraveling the other side of these bullying football gods. That’s one thing you’ll definitely be learning. Nothing is what it seems and secrets are around every corner.
As things heat up in this war, things also heat up between Hailee and Cameron. With explosive chemistry that flares brighter by the second these two were a match made in star crossed heaven. Even with everything that swirls around them there’s a certain unique sweetness that exists between Hailee and Cameron. And after that ending I am DYING for more!
Five amazing stars for Hailee and Cameron !!!
This is the first book I’ve read by L. A. Cotton and OMG this is one the best Young Adult book that I’ve read this year!!!
I really love Lianne’s writing style because this book had an interesting storyline, beautiful characters and brings you so many different feelings throughout reading the whole story.
This was one of the books which you need to read all night because you need to know what happens next.
Enemies to lovers, angst, drama and more… This book has everything I’ve ever want in Young Adult books.
Hailee and Cameron are a beautiful couple.
At first, they were friends but because of Jason (Hailee’s stepbrother), they become enemies. But the truth was that whole time Cameron is in love with her.
Cameron is one of my favorite male characters in YA books. He’s a kind of the guy you think is a bad boy but then you find out that was just a mask that he was using to be popular between his friends.
Hailee is one of the strongest female characters I’ve ever met in books. She has the one goal and that is to finish high school and goes to college and be further as possible from Jason and his friends who make her live miserably. But in the end, she finds out that everything she needs is right next to her.
P. S. I can’t wait for the second book in this series and need it right now.
I really looking forward to reading Flick’s and Jason’s story.
Highly recommended!!!
I was so excited for this book and I AM NOT disappointed. There is a unique spin on this bully enemies to lover romance that was refreshing.
The story is great and the set up for book 2 in the series legit has me salivating.
I do love enemies to lovers and sports romance, and this first book in a brand new YA series, set in the world of High school American Football, was a really fantastic read.
Hailee is a sympathetic and strong character who is resilient against the trials and tribulations brought to her in the shape of her nemesis Jason, who also happens to be her step brother…to say there is no love lost between these two would be an understatement. The step siblings have close friends who provide support and humor to the story; I thought Flick was a perfect bff for Hailee. Jason has his team mates, and in particular Cameron and Asher. I love the friendship between these guys even though it means that Hailee suffers as a result…and then there is Cameron who is the kind of person you want in your corner, but he has a lot going on, and whilst his attraction to Hailee is difficult to ignore, his loyalty to his best friend Jason together with the other angst in his life makes any future hopes impossible to consider.
This was a really well written story with so much scope for future high school drama, fun and romance. There are clearly some new relationships developing. I’m certain Asher and Jason are both going to have their moment in the limelight in subsequent books; hopefully all the guys and girls will continue to feature in the coming instalments…A fabulous start to the series; I look forward to reading more…I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
