Wasn’t sure I was gonna like this book when I first started reading it but I ended up loving it and can’t wait for more in the series!
My first read by L.A. Cotton, and it definitely will not be my last. I devoured the pages! This book had me on a rollercoaster of emotions.
The push and pull between Cameron and Hailee is so freakin’ intense! These characters are so real and a bit flawed, and I became so invested in them, and where their journey was headed. I was rooting for these two from the start. They have such a strong connection, and I love the way their story unfolded.
The friendships and family moments bring so much more to the story. The high school, football setting was so well done. I don’t feel that there was ever a moment where the writing was lacking. Top notch writing from the beginning to the end.
This is an angst filled, enemies to lovers, sports romance that you will want to read, and then read again!
Home run
I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!
What a brilliant start to a new series and so addictive.
L.A Cotton hit everything I yearn for in my reads. Drama, angst, hotness, a gripping plot, this mature young adult romance had it all.
The Trouble With You is a few things, a high school romance, enemies to lovers, brothers best friend romance, a coming of age, YA, sports/soccer romance, bully romance and it hit all my good spots.
What started off as a bully romance took a quick turn to be so much more.
“I’d spent six years hating him. For being Jason’s sidekick. For standing by, even helping, my step-brother make my life hell”
Hailee hated her stepbrother, for six years she had lived with him, endured his taunts and his games but she gave as good as she got but on the first day of her last school year something began to change not with her step-brother he was as bad as ever, the star quarterback who thought he was a god but it was his best friend, the start if the new school year also brought a change in Cameron.
I never wanted to break you” I confessed “I only wanted you to see me
Cameron and Hailee began to feel the chemistry to a point where it could no longer be denied, a slow burn but the heat was sizzling to the point of boiling over.
I really liked the characters, Hailee was ballsy, had a backbone and while Cameron was also a star soccer player with a cocky attitude he had a softness to him that was reserved for Hailee and those he loved.
I loved the journey, the ups, and downs. The flow was perfect and I couldn’t get enough.
This book has me very excited for this series and I can’t wait for more.
Told in first person dual pov and leads to a hfn
1st book in the series and already counting the days until the next one is released! Hailee and Cameron overcome a lot to finally figure things out. 1 more year is all Hailee needs to get thru. to get away from her family and her step-brother Jason. Flick is her only real support but she has other ideas of how to spend their senior year. Love the feistiness of the ladies who don’t take crap for anybody especially the Raiders who rule their town. L.A. Cotton has delivered another great series and this was only #1.
Y’all just don’t know. I have been in the book slump from hell for the last month. My reading always slows down in June and July for some reason. But I had started a few books but nothing was really drawing me in and keeping me there. BUT THEN… I picked up this book. It was just what I needed. There are so many bully romances going around right now and so many of them have similar qualities. I thought this might be more of the same. But I was so hooked on these characters. For me with bully romances, I feel like the characters and actions are so over the top for that shock factor. But this was just enough without it being insane tactics and there were plausible reasons for the actions the characters took. The characters and all of their actions seemed genuine. And I loved every single character in this friend/enemy group. Which makes me so pumped for everyone else’s books. This book did give me Sea Breeze vibes, the series by Abbi Glines. It’s one of my favorites ever and I have yet to find a series like it since devouring it. But I really feel like this series is going to be even more. It was actually a long story that didn’t seem like filler. Ugh… it was just so much yes. My book bestie, Taylor has been telling me to pick this up and thank goodness I did because not only did it snap my slump, it made me want to devour all of LA Cotton’s other books which I just happen to already have several of.
This book follows Hallie Raine and her step-brother Jason, who is a football god in their small town. Jason likes to make Hallie’s life Hell and his two best friends, Cameron Chase and Asher Bennet, are happy to help. Hallie has a best friend, Flick who is trying to make senior year something more for them. I really admired that Hallie has a backbone for the entirety of this story. She’s vulnerable at times sure… but she’s true to herself. I just thought this story was really well told. Typically, I like my smut early and often.. and usually annoyed if that doesn’t happen. This book is a YA/NA crossover and this one definitely was on the YA side with the steam factor. But it didn’t bother me in the slightest because of the angst and emotional depth and range of all of the characters. Even the stories happening in the background were so well represented. I just could not put this book down. I highly recommend checking this book out. I for one, cannot wait for the next book!
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
I have read many books by the talented LA Cotton and they are all amazing. This one was no exception. This was a completely different book from LA Cotton and I loved it! This is a bully romance series and a slow burn romance.
Cameron is so …. <3 There is so much drama in this book that I could not put the book down. This writing style was typical LA Fashion! She swoops you in and breaks you down at every turn.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Wow! My first LA Cotton book and definitely not my last. The Trouble with You is a YA/NA romance with the bully trope that everyone loves these days.
This has everything I like in a book. A bit forbidden, a bit of brother’s best friend, and a whole lot of angst.
Hailee and Cameron are a total win in my book and I cannot wait to continue this series.
Do we want to get started on the narrators? I am a total sucker for Wen Ross. And Sarah Puckett is quickly becoming someone I seek out for a good book. These two together are great. They bring Hailee and Cameron to life and make this one heck of a ride.

When I saw the blurb for this book, I was immediately interested, and when I saw some of the early reviews from my friends on GR…I knew I had to read it as soon as possible! Of course, my lovely friends never lead me astray and so I have to admit that this book was absolutely awesome !!!
The second I started to read, I was pulled into the story and I didn’t put the book down until I was finished. I have never read a book by this author before, but I can tell you I will be going through all of them now because I really liked the writing style… The fact that this book has all my favorite tropes, was a big plus as well 😉
I also love books that take place in highschool or college….takes me back and makes me feel a bit young again9f01372377900d9203bc4efe48eb1659
Hailee is senior in high school and she can’t wait to finish this last year, and finally get away from Rixon and especially from Jase…Rixon’s very own QP and Hailee’s tormentor aka stepbrother. Now don’t go getting this wrong because this is NOT a stepsibling romance. These two really do hate each other’s guts and especially Jase takes his bullying to the extreme. But with Jase also comes his minions…Asher and Cameron.
Cameron who once was almost Hailee’s friend, but who turned out to be just as bad as her stepbrother….or is he ???
I loved the whole enemies to lovers theme, but I also loved the friendships and the dynamics between all characters. So curious how everything is gonna turn out. Hailee and Cameron were definitely made for each other…I am actually a bit jealous of Cameron because Hailee is pretty awesome if I say so myself. Just how I like my heroines.
I loved this book so hard !! I am sure it is gonna end up on my “Top 10 Reads” list of 2019. That said, we will be getting more books so who knows how many are gonna end up on that list. I have a feeling Jase’s book is gonna be pretty interesting. I am a HUGE fan of redeemable assholes and he is the perfect specimen for that trope.
I can’t wait…I need MORE !! Right now, please !!!!!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go through all this author’s books 😛

I was generously proved an ARC by the author for an honest review of this book.
I love all these troupes and L.A. Cotton did a great job creating this world.
The story revolves around Hailee & Cameron. Hailee has suffered years of torment from her stepbrother Jason and his two bestfriends, Cameron & Asher. But Hailee being the strong and sassy lead, gives as good as she gets along with her best friend Felicity.
All are starting their senior year of high school. The boys are star football players who everyone including the town treats like gods.
All Hailee wants to do is get through her senior year and avoid anything football related & Jason. Felicity has other ideas and takes Hailee out of her comfort zone.
Cameron who is a caring and sweet guy, when not following Jason and his antics, is carrying the weight of the world and unable to share his burdens.
After years of squashed feelings, torment, stepbrothers and bestfriends will they find their way?
This was such a good story and has so many different layers. There is so much more to come with all the great characters. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
The Trouble With You
I love finding new authors. I’m also loving YA bully romances right now. LA Cotton threw the winning touchdown with this book! I have read and listened to it, and it’s pretty dang good! It has all of the angst and drama in spades. Sexy football players and a heroine that can hold her own. HEA and no cliffhanger.
The football players rule the school. Which includes Hailee’s nemesis, her step brother Jason, and his two best friends, Cameron and Asher. Hailee is into art, Cameron is the star wide receiver for the Rixon Raiders. Hailee just wants to survive her senior year, Cameron has more important things to worry about besides school and football. Hailee just wants to be left alone, Cameron helps Jason extract his on going revenge on her.
I can’t wait for the next book, The Game You Play, which we get a preview to in the epilogue
Sarah & Wren did a fantastic job narrating this book! Their voices are perfect for Hailee and Cameron!
****** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW ******
Bully romances seem to be all the rage lately and I enjoy them a ton. But, there is a type of storyline that most authors go with and that turns me off. I need both characters in said “bully romance” to be strong. I need them to stand up for themselves when it comes to the other bullying them. I can’t handle it when one of the main characters just takes the abuse and doesn’t hurl any back. I need my hero (heroines) to be strong and fierce and if one is going to bash the other, I need the other to return the favor. No weak characters. Otherwise it really reads as an abusive relationship to me. Sorry… I ranted a bit… The Trouble with You does, in fact, have two strong fierce characters. What makes this stand apart from other bully romances is that they real bully isn’t exactly the love interest, Cameron. The real bully was Jason, the step brother. I despised him, just as Hailee did. He made her life a living hell and was a jerk. (Sorry I rambled so much!)
Anyway, enough of that. I was completely shocked with LA Cotton’s writing. It flowed. Almost effortlessly. It seemed like it was written just for audiobook… it was like someone was writing down life. I really don’t know how else to describe it but it was captivating. Incredibly interesting. I’m really looking forward to the other books in the series and whoever Jason gets as his counterpart; I hope she’s one crazy girl that puts him right in his place! Really, I’m giddy to read/listen about him. I can’t wait to see what Miss Cotton does to make me like Jason. She’s got a great talent so I have all my faith in her.
These two narrators are fantastic! I always enjoy Sarah Pucket and Wen Ross’s narrations. They work really well together and seem to just flow. Sarah Pucket was perfect. She handled Hailee’s spitfire attitude flawlessly. My only complaint or advice is that Wen Ross try and soften his voice a bit. He sounds so manly… which is great but these are high school students. He doesn’t sound exactly like a high school guy.

This is the first book in the Rixon Raiders Series. This is an interesting mix of new adult, brother’s best friend, enemies to lovers and sports romance. The story is nothing like I ever read before. Hailee and Cameron’s story is very angsty and heartbreaking. Hailee and Jason, her stepbrother, have an awful relationship. They hate each other. Cameron is caught in the middle of their war. The story is heartbreaking and heartwarming afterward. I love the ending, and can’t wait for the next book in the Series. Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed listening this audiobook.
All hail the Rixon Raiders!
Everything is riding on this football year for Justin. Nothing can get in his way except he has a step sister, Hailee . A step sister he hates and him and his friends all make sure she knows, by their cruel pranks , that she is not liked. Haley hates him back, hates football and everything that comes with it, rallys, games . She wants nothing to do with it but her friend, Flic coax her into joining in on the fun. Hailee ends up being at a Rixon Raider rivalry party and oh boy things go bad quickly.
One team member and Justins best friend Cameron has fallen for Haley but Haley wants nothing to do with Justin and his bully friends but, does she??
This is a hate/ love / hate lol story . Definitely makes you want to keep reading to find out what Justin does next or what kind of mean prank they play on Haley.
I’m a sucker for love/hate relationship storys LOL!
The narrators, Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross do such a phenomenal job which makes the story even more enjoyable.
This is another 5 star read for me! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer #LACotton
A perfect enemies to lovers story with some extra drama added to the mix. I loved this book and can only hope that with the way this book ended that there will be more to come.
**Audio Review**
This is my first book by this author and wow was I surprised by just how much I enjoyed listening to this story of enemies to lovers. The narration of Halee and Cameron (Wen Ross and Sarah Puckett) was so amazingly good I was instantly drawn in. This YA story had it all from angst to drama to bullying and just plain old high school fun. I loved the sports aspect to the story and it really brought out the narrative. Halee is such a strong character for a heroine and I loved her tenacity and wit. Cameron will be in my list of book favs now too. He is the epitome of high school jock but there was more to him than that and I enjoyed his dimensions. Overall a wonderfully addictive audiobook written by a now favourite author delivered by one of the best narrators Wen Ross who was outed with an equally incredible Sarah Puckett. Definite recommended audiobook!!!
Audiobook Review:
The Trouble With You (Rixon Raiders, Book 1) is a angsty YA/NA enemies to lovers romance with a sports trope imbue. From one of my all time favourite ya authors a cutting edge novel with a dramatic flare style. The narrative exudes betrayal, bullying, family melodrama, rivalry, romance and school cliques. A undeniable attraction between Cameron Chase and Halee Raine that brings sparks among friends. Character’s are compelling with complex personalities. The writing style is exhilarating as well as captivating. The narrative is brimming with angsty charged moments tumbling through the pages. Family dynamics, along with a blossoming romance weaved through narative. Twisty moments splashdown along with fun banter between the characters. Overall, a full fledged narrative enveloping a remarkable listen. Looking forward to listening to the next audiobook in this series when available.
Narrator Wen Ross is my absolute favourite male narator and he hits all the right spots in the right places. His interpretation of Cameron Chase made me swoon. His voice was the perfect reflection of Cameron Chase. His voice is impeccable and smooth with just the right undertones. A flawless performance that brings it all to life perfectly. His voice is so sexy and thrilling to listen to all day long. Narator Sarah Puckett is my absolute favourite female narrator that brings sexy to whole new level. Her seductive voice is also swoon worthy. She brings out the character’s personality in a way that exhuberates her own talent. Her ability to give each character their own voice exemplifies her talent. Together Wen Ross and Sarah Puckett were icing on the cake.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
This has been my first “bully” romance and I have to say. I was pleasantly surprised. It has enemies to lovers, bully romance and best friends little sister all mixed into one. It has teenage drama and everything in between. Jason could give Mean Girls Regina George a run for her money and it works so well. The narrators do an amazing job and I can’t wait for Felicity’s story.
I liked this story, it had feelings and a good storyline.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
The characters is developed in to realistic personalities
The author builds my curiosity to the other characters story in a good way.
Narrators:
Both narrators are of my favourites so it’s well read with clear pronunciation and lots of feelings. Enjoyed it very much
4 stars overall

The Trouble with You
Rixon Raiders, Book 1
By: L A Cotton
Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Wen Ross
LA Cotton’s The Trouble with You is an angsty, teenage, coming of age romance that had me from the first chapter. I thought at first it was going to be your typical high school sports story, but there is so much more to this. Melded family siblings Jason and Hailee hate each other. For years now, these two will stop at nothing to top the other’s nastiness. But now, seniors in high school things are about to change. Cameron, Jason’s best friend, is looking out for Hailee. His feelings for her have grown, but she is off limits. Can he keep her there? Time will tell on that, but as we get further into this story, there is so many facets we become involved in. We have infidelity, illness, responsibility, decision making, all the things that make up life and we feel it through the eyes of 18 year olds. How it effected me? I was completely invested in every emotion, felt their pain, their joy, their frustration and their love. It’s a love story, but more importantly, it’s a life story. I really enjoyed this.
Wen Ross and Sarah Puckett give an amazing performance. Each brings their voices to the table with impassioned tugs and heartfelt emotion. They pulled me in with every inflection and kept me riveted til the end. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book.

The Trouble With You By L.A. Cotton is a YA/NA enemies-to-lovers sports romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross. All I can say is Wow! This is an amazing book and I cannot wait until book two is released. Lianne did an amazing job with the characters. I just had to know how the story was going to end.
Sarah and Wen were absolutely amazing duo on this. I just love Sarah she has a voice that just pulls you into the storyline. This is the first audio book I have heard with Wen and I absolutely loved his deep gruff voice.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Young Adult, Enemies-To-Lovers Romance, or Sports Romance.
