OMG I am so in love with book!!! Cotton has created one incredible YA world with characters you can really relate to. Hailee is starting her Senior year of high school and she is preparing to survive it no matter what it takes. She has been in a feud of sorts with her step-brother and his friends for years with some elaborate pranking going on back and forth. I mean this stuff is really rough and add in the other students to get example of hardcore bullying. Feelings start developing between her and one of the friends though they will be in for a bumpy ride before they earn their HEA. Realistic fascinating romance that will keep you hooked until the very last page. Total must read for fans of the genre! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
“You don’t hate me. you hate yourself. I’m everything you loathe, but you want me anyway.”
I loved this book.
I always enjoy this kind of books of hate/love , most of all if it’s about sisters/brothers best friends.
I like to see how the situation evolves form hate to love and all the steps in between . And I think this author did an excellent job in telling us this story.
Cameron Chase is something else . His growth in this book is outstanding . His passion and kindness for all the things he believe in and for his family and friends his mind-blowing .
And Hailee , a strong , independent and passionate young woman , ready to fight with her nails for what she believes in , no matter what.
“Does hating me feel as good for you as it does for me?”
Cameron and Hailee were end game since they first looked at each other , it was only a matter of time. You can’t fight fate , they just made sense together. The chemistry and the passion were undeniable , it was like fireworks on 4th of July : just magic!
I didn’t enjoy a good romance since a long time , I’m so happy this series brought me out of my block.
I gave it 4.5 stars .
I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did!
This book has it all. What’s not to love? Amazing characters, intriguing storyline. Always something going on so you’re never bored. This immediately whisked me away into Hailee and Cameron’s world. Amazing chemistry between characters and this is definitely an author I am one-clicking now.

First, let me tell you that the minute I started this book I instantly felt all the feels. That included the not so pleasant ones as well!! I was pulled right into Hailee’s emotions until the end. The Trouble With You by L.A. Cotton is the first in the Rixon Raiders series and what a start to a series!!!! Holy smokes the ups and downs and all the corners that we get to visit–what a ride!!!
I LOVE IT!!!! There is enemies-to-lovers, family drama, football, school rivalry and soo much more. There is so much to this well written story that I could not put it down and now I am ready for the next book in the series because, yes, it left me wanting more now, please!!
Hailee has one more year of high school to go. One more year of getting past the school spirit and the cruel step-brother who loves to torment and prank her.
Cameron has the world at his feet. From talent on the football field to the ladies and college reps lining up to sign him up. That is until things happen and threaten everything in that is in place to move forward.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next one!!!
Hailee Raine’s day isn’t off to a good start. Glad to see that she sticks up for herself and gives as good as she gets. Also makes me glad that my brothers never treated me the way she was. Cameron Chase is all about being a team player. And that seems to be true when trouble is around.
Even though most of the characters are in high school, they act and do things that someone older might do. That’s just one reason I feel this is more for the new adult – unless you read before your child does and then you can make an informed decision. Another reason, and one thing that I had an issue with, we have someone of authority that doesn’t mind underage drinking. Good thing this is fiction because otherwise that person would be in a lot of trouble and would lose their job. But if you’re thinking your teen might like this, you could use it as a teachable moment.
The primary secondary characters all add something to this story. First you have Flick. She’s a great friend to Hailee. She’s a great sounding board as well as helping Hailee get out of her comfort zone. Then we have the boys. Jason Ford is something of an obscure character. We see how important his career choice is to him but some of his choices could put a stop to what he really wants. He also likes to aggravate his stepsister. Then we have Asher. He seems to like to make jokes even though some may seem a little tasteless. He also seems to be a follower. It will be interesting to see how the author develops these characters as the series continues.
Some scenes may seem as if they’re going by a little too slowly but I think it just helps to put things in real time. It might give you a sense that you’re there with the kids as they experience what may be one of the most important years they will have. By going slow, and being that this is the first book in a new series, our author is giving a start into the world of the Rixon Raiders. Once you get to the ending you know you’re going to want to continue – for older readers it may even be a trip down memory lane.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This was beyond amazing. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the story, I knew it was going to be an angst filled bully kind of read, but it blew all my expectations away.
It starts by Hailee and her step brother Jase having words and we find out all he has done to her over the years and we realize he just doesn’t hate her, he despises her and lives to torture her. Jase is the football god, in a football town where he can do no wrong, he and his best friends (Cam and Ash) have spent years torturing Hailee but this is their senior year and things are a little different. When we first meet Cam I could tell even though he helped Hailee’s step brother torment her there was something different about they way he did it. Cam was the guy you love to hate and hate to love because he just went along with whatever Hailee’s step brother said and did, like a puppet. Cam’s personal life is going all to crap so he starts to look at life differently, looks at Hailee differently, and even questions if football is his whole world any more. This is where Cam becomes the good villain, he thinks by still doing what Jase says yet doing it less extremely he is protecting Hailee. He soon realizes he doesn’t want to be the puppet any more.
Hailee may have spent years enduring this torment from her step brother Jase and his goons but she is the heroine we all love because she doesn’t runaway, she doesn’t back down, no she plots and plans then gets revenge. She is strong, smart, independent, and knows her worth but all these pranks have kind of hardened her through the years but then Cam starts to show her his other side and she doesn’t know what to think. The push and pull, the hate and love between Hailee and Cam is so hot and steamy I could not put the book down. Even the hate between Jase and Hailee becomes so intriguing I found myself wanting to see what happened next. This is my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it and can not wait to get more Rixon Raiders.
Omg! 5 wonderful beautiful stars! I am a huge LA Cotton fan so of course I was not surprised by how blown away I was with this book! It has a few of my fave tropes all put together. Enemy to lovers, best friend’s sister, sports, and angst! This book is full of angst but not in your face angst. Hailee is such a strong character. Watching her take emotional hit after emotional hit and come out on top was amazing. LA Cotton wrote these characters perfectly. And don’t get me started on Cameron. You can’t help but love him! You can’t help but love all 3 of the boys. Even though Jason(Hailee’s step brother) is a major douchebag you can’t help but want to know his story and why he is the way he is. I can’t wait for the next two books and to get to know Jason and Asher more. I def recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed!
The last year of high school should be an amazing time, and for some it is. For Hailee its just the cap on what has been a horrible last 6 yrs… yep even middle school was horrible. It all started when her mom and step-dad got together, and they became a blended family. Jason, Hailee’s step-brother, has never hidden his dislike of her, and relished making her life miserable. With the help of his two best friends, he succeeded in making Hailee’s high school experience horrible. If it wasn’t for her bestie Flick, she would have been all alone. Cameron has been best friends with Jason for what seems like forever, and now they are ruling the school with Asher as the third in their trio. He knows that Hailee is off limits, but the more she stands up to Jason and his antics, the more Cameron wants her. But nothing good can come from the two of them having any type of relationship. Until Cameron is done fighting against the pull, but will Cameron risk his best friend for a girl? Will he risk his future in football?
This was such an amazing read! This is not a simple, best friends sister story, this was so much more. Drama, violence, football, and some really nicely done naughty bits. This is a 5 star read all the way and this is just the beginning, I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Have you ever met someone and been completely taken in by them but then they open their mouth and it’s straight to @sshole zone. Not friend zone, friends with benefits zone, or even right now- No, I mean smack this @sshhole upside the head and plot his death zone. Just me!?! Then you haven’t met Jase, or his best friends Cam and Asher.
I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt that your opinion will change. 100% guaranteed. The Trouble With You is a fun push and pull enemies to lovers adventure. By adventure, I mean ups, downs, and side ways movements and even a hit that feels like you were pushed off a cliff.
Rixon Raiders rule the roost in this sports obsessed town where football is king. The players are gods. Everyone else is there for servitude. Except for the one girl with a front row seat to trouble!
Hailee has never been a fan. She has no desire to be a part of that world. High school is almost done. She just needs to get through this year. Just needs…Yeah, about that, it might be easier if her stepbrother wasn’t the head of the god squad. If QB1 didn’t live in the same house and live to make her existence that much more difficult.
If, if ,if…
Time is wasted on ifs. She can’t lose him and she sure won’t join him. Hailee is stubborn and will not go down without a fight. The question is who is she really fighting? The pranks are getting out of hand and now the consequences are very real.
The Trouble With You is fiction with a lot of reality. It’s not your sweet saccharine tale. No it’s a teeth gnashing, tongue biting, knock down drag out romp. So dust off your dancing shoes and get your homecoming speech ready because the Raiders are here.
I’ll be over in the corner sneaking longing glances at football hotties while silently judging the horny girls throwing themselves at them. Ah the sweet smell of pheromones and teenage angst, nothing but the best from LA Cotton.
Go Raiders!
This book!! GAH!! I WANT TO SCREAM IT OUT TO EVERYONE “READ THIS AWESOME BOOK!!”
I was really excited about this book!! I love L.A.’s writing!! I knew it would be awesome!! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!! Then…I…did!!! I could NOT stop reading!!! This book is sooo good!!! Cameron is such a honey (after he’s done being mean)!!! Jase is such a poop (cruel and hurtful)!!! Asher just goes with the flow, so he can be a honey or he can be a poop (meany). Depends where things are flowing at the time. I don’t want to strangle him, but sometimes I want to slap him.
Speaking of slapping, sometimes I wanted to slap Hailee upside the head. I mean there’s a reason she hates football, but Cam is out there….why aren’t you watching him?? But anyway, I’m not going to tell you all about the story. You have the summary and you should enjoy reading the book without knowing everything that’s about to happen. That’s why I avoid reviews sometimes. But I need to say BE PREPARED TO BE SUCKED INTO THIS BOOK AND NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!!! YOU’RE GONNA LOVE IT!!!!
Love love love this new YA series by LA! This enemies to lovers sports romance is full of drama, angst and so many emotions. I couldn’t put in down. I had to know what was going to happen next in the Jason/ Hailee feud and of course if Cameron and Hailee were ever going to admit their true feelings. This was high school pettiness, football jocks thinking they are above all, and girls being b*$ches. This story did not disappoint. I’m going to be sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next book!
Cam and Hailee the first book of the series and wow I loved the push and pull of these too. I love the circle of friends, I can’t help but love Jason even though he a jackass!
From start to finish this book had me addicted and I had to keep reading. I had to find out what happened at the parties or what prank they did to each other.
I loved that you could tell they wanted each other but tried not to show it and I loved that Cam had to do the chasing and admitted what he wanted. I hope his mam is ok and I hope we find out if Jason and Hailee forgive their parents.
I loved the ending of this book and it has me so excited for book 2. I hope felicity gets a happy ending she wants cause she deserves it. I can’t wait to find out what happened to Jason except what his dad did to make him not want love.

STORY:
A little disappointed with a few things, and I liked other things. This book was 400+ pages, I just don’t understand how Cameron and Hailee spent so much time apart. I felt so overly stimulated by the teasers of will they won’t they that it became frustrating. Yes, there were obstacles preventing them from being together, but it took too long. I personally felt a lot of time was spent with them individually with looks from afar, and that’s no good for me. Let’s see how book 2 will go because I didn’t get closure on a few things. Also, I like when secondary characters are deeply involved, however, sometimes this story felt like it was Jason’s story. So much time was spent focused on him. I won’t even lie, I wanted to hurry and finish this book because I was becoming more interested with the teasers of what’s going on between Jason and Felicity.
What I liked about the book, I love the storytelling of the whole book. I also like the storyline for Cameron with his family issues. The sports and rivalry aspect made you feel included in the games. I did not only get sports theme, but brother’s best friend with enemies to lovers.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Sex scenes were good, but weren’t enough. I wanted a little more.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Asher, loved him, and he makes me laugh. Jason, yeah, a real grump, that one and hardcore football player. I am very much interested in his story, though. Felicity, Hailee’s best friend, too cute.
OVERALL:
There a certain storylines that tugs at the heart and I like that. However, I was not please with the pace of the character’s progress or the closure of certain things. This did not turn me off from book 2 and plan on getting into that next.
TRIGGERS: roofie drink and violation while drinking.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
OMG !!! What a Fantastic story…
Wow is all I can say , Hailee and Cameron’s story had me hooked from the start and I know I am going to be addicted to this series until I have read every single book.
L.A.Cotton’s writing is incredible and I Loved every moment spent with these characters and the Rixon Raiders,Football mad town.
I was lost to it all.
Brilliant,brilliant,brilliant !!! I highly recommend it.
I cannot believe I have never read this book before.
5 Fabulous Stars.
Little to high schoolish for me
You will come to hate to love Jason but fall in love with Felicity and her loyal, quirky way at once. This is a book that will make you angry at the characters, hopeful, and love them all at the same time. Jason is the small town of Rixons golden boy, star quarterback, angry chip on his shoulder and user of girls for his own pleasue He doesn’t do relationship until he notices Felicity, his step sisters Best friend. Felicity is not popular, a little quirky, unfiltered with what she says and totally in love with Jason. Trouble with a rival football player threatens harm to Felicity and Jason to Realize that he much protect her at all cost. Very good book
Didn’t want to put the book down!
03/23/2021 WOW. Talk about packing a punch!!! That is exactly what you will find in “The Trouble with You” (nook). This book is wonderfully intense. The characters, Cameron and Hailee, steal your heart and pull you in to the story. I started reading in the evening and finished at 6 a.m. Whew!!! I would gladly rate “The Trouble with You” as 6 stars.
Got so addicted, I actually wanted to read the entire series.
Possessive. Protective. Promising.
As the first book in the Rixon Raiders series, The Trouble with You, Cameron and Hailee set the pace, and instantly brought plenty of angst, heat, and unrelenting push and pull, from start to finish! There is more to Cam than he leads on, and Hailee speaks her mind, no matter the consequences. And when the two come together, well, there is no telling what gets set in motion.
“Oh, Sunshine, the only thing driving me crazy is you.” ~ Cameron Chase, The Trouble With You (Rixon Raiders Bk 1)
“Don’t you know by now, Sunshine? I’m a Raider and Raiders never quit.” ~ Cameron Chase, The Trouble With You (Rixon Raiders Bk 1)
I thoroughly enjoyed this promising YA high school, football romance. I really loved the confident, possessive, and protective alpha, Cameron Chase!
This was a great enemies-to-lovers story, and I look forward to the next angsty novel, Book 2–The Game You Play!
