Things on my wishlist:1. Start a new, awesome job2. Create the perfect dating app3. Stop dating douchebagsThings that actually happen:1. Got a job in my dream tech company 2. Created a workplace dating app for said company3. Was matched with Bennett, who happens to own the company and is also my brother’s best friendThey say when it rains, it pours, but this is some serious BS. It doesn’t help … pours, but this is some serious BS. It doesn’t help that Bennett was the man I had my last one night stand with. It definitely doesn’t help that he seems to want me just as much as I want him. The issue is, he won’t do anything about it, but then we’re forced to attend a tech conference in Vegas and I think it may just be what I need to turn this thing around.
New goal: get my brother’s best friend out of my system by all means necessary.

I knew without a doubt that I would love this book because Claire Contreras is that good and I was right! This was amazing.
I’m immediately sucked in to the world she creates. I fall in love with the characters “Bennett and Morgan” and for this love I feel their pain. My heart twitches when they smile.
This was such a fun, cute, charming, sexy read. I definitely found myself laughing out loud and even shaking my head with some of the banter .
Morgan being the best friends little sister and working in the same building as Bennett gave room for some hard felt intense chemistry. I LOVED this. I swoon over sneaky looks and touches.
I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for my honest review. Claire rights books with a lot of emotion. This book definitely did that! Bennett is Morgan’s brother’s best friend. I love these type of romances. There is always a bit of forbidden since the brother usually does not want anyone messing with his little sister. Bennett and Morgan were such great characters. They have both been hurt badly in the past by the people they love. Morgan has an especially hard time falling in love and having trust in people. Their push and pull relationship really kept me glued to my Kindle.
5 Stars!
Morgan Tucker is a 25 yr. old single woman who grew up in Vegas and didn’t have the best childhood, with the exception of a fabulous, overprotective big brother named Devon who now plays for the NFL. She is over the moon thrilled when her brother’s connections land her a huge opportunity. A job at the most impressive, superior tech company out there right now. It’s well known in the tech world that SEVEN can make or break a career. She’s had her eye on them since college, and working for them has been her dream for as long as she can remember, and it’s finally coming true. The only glitch is when she realizes Bennett Cruz, one of her new bosses is not only her brother’s best friend, but the most magical, unforgettable one night stand she’s ever experienced. She’s determined to not let anything get in the way of her success at SEVEN. She builds apps for fun as a side gig, and wants to change the scope of online dating and create something unique that will lead people to true love. She develops a workplace dating app that the employees will try, and when she’s matched with Bennett things get even more complicated. To work with him she somehow needs to shake off these feelings for him.
Pursuing his best friend’s little sister probably wouldn’t go over well. Bennett is sure Devon would not approve of the thoughts he’s currently having about Morgan. Can he just be her friend, and nothing more when he will have to see her everyday. As coworkers he needs to keep it professional, but the problem is he can’t stop thinking about her, and the hot night they shared. It was only supposed to be a one time thing, and he didn’t think he’d ever see he again. Jaded, he doesn’t do relationships and no longer believes in love, but still finds himself wanting to get to know her. When they take a business trip together to Vegas everything changes. He figures maybe they could get each other out of their systems while on this trip, and not get attached, but soon he realizes he wants more with her, and consequences be damned.
The Trouble With Love by Claire Contreras is a sexy, forbidden, brother’s best friend office romance full of sizzling chemistry, amazing banter, and beautiful love. I really enjoyed this book and adore this authors writing so much! I loved Presley and Nathaniel also made an appearance in this story. Claire Contreras continues to be one of my all time favorite authors and as usual she wrote another fantastic story I devoured, and couldn’t put down.
The Trouble with Love by Claire Contreras was such a charming and sweet older brother’s best friend romance. It was full of witty banter, steamy and very likable characters. They had incredible chemistry, even if they did try and deny it at first. Though I am used to more angst-filled books by this author, I found myself smiling a whole lot while reading and not wanting to put this book down.
Morgan is excited to start her new job, at least until she finds she will be working with Bennett. You know, the man she had a one-night stand with previously and her brother’s friend. Not exactly how you want to start a new job. Bennett was all charm and sexy and even with the mistakes he made, it was hard not to fall for him. They were great together and I loved watching them interact with other and trying not to fall for the other and failing big time! I found the Trouble with Love by Claire Contreras to be such a heartwarming and delightful read and one I highly recommend!

Happy reading!
I haven’t read anything by this author before, but I can tell you that I will definitely be reading more in the future. I was instantly drawn into this story, and even though things kept happening IRL that pulled me away, I found it extremely easy to jump right back into the story because of how it stuck with me even when I wasn’t reading it consistently. There was a sweetness and sadness to the back story of each character and how they ended up finding each other despite all odds. I absolutely loved the dating app aspect and how it played into the story in a quite different way than you might expect. I was also impressed with the main male character and his ability to see when he was needed and what he needed to do for his love. The amount of support between the siblings was also impressive and dear to my heart. I think there is a lot to be said for forgiveness and learning to trust people again and this story showed that very nicely. If you enjoy contemporary romance, especially a brother’s best friend type of story, I think you will very much like this book.
Morgan is passionate about building new and innovative apps. It has been her dream to work for Seven, a tech company which has a firm reputation of being at the cutting edge. After landing her dream job she is surprised to discover that the owner, Bennett, is in fact the guy she had an unforgettable one night stand with a year ago, except his name was ‘Ben.’ To add another layer to this complicated conundrum, he is also her brother’s best friend. Yup, awkward…
‘I’ve been entirely bare in front of men in the past and haven’t felt this exposed. It’s the way he looks at me, like he’s trying to read into me, not just stare at my body.’
Bennett is thrilled to see ‘Elizabeth’ again but it’s short lived when he realises who she is to him. Well, shit… He can be professional about this though. She is hugely talented and the perfect person to add to their incredible team at Seven. He just needs to stay away from her, can’t be that hard right?
Morgan pitches a workplace dating app she has been developing and is thrilled when she is given the go ahead to trial it among the single employees at work. She wonders who she will match with, there are definitely promising options among the single guys in her office. The thought of Morgan matching with anyone makes Bennett insanely jealous, in fact any guy that shows interest in her gets him feeling hot under his well pressed collar.
When Bennett insists that Morgan accompanies him on a business trip away, everything changes. The lust between reaches its breaking point and it feels so damn right to give into what they both want. Getting this feeling out their system will fix everything and they can reset themselves as just friends again right?
‘When I press my lips against hers and feel her sigh against me, I’m sure this is the kind of happiness people spend their lives chasing.’
This is a classic forbidden romance trope where the guy falls for his best friend’s younger sister. Very easy to read and low angst.
A mostly good listen if you can beyond the immaturity of the female main character. Shes sweet, but a child.
I just read (listened to) The Player and The Trouble with Love back to back and this one is slightly different and a little lighter than the others I’ve read by her.
While Morgan’s backstory has a lot of pain and turmoil, the overall feel of this book is a little lighter. I loved this just as much as I love her books that tear my heart to pieces.
Morgan and Bennett have a one night stand together and did not exchange full names or numbers before going their separate ways. Move forward a year and Morgan walks into her dream company as a new hire and comes face to face with Bennett and realizes he’s not only going to be her boss, but he’s also her brother’s best friend.
Morgan and Bennett set some initial boundaries to keep things professional, but their chemistry didn’t allow those boundaries to stay intact for long. They agree on new boundaries and commit to keep things casual, but the emotional and physical pull between them is too strong to ignore.
As with what I am coming to realize as CC’s style, the struggles and resolutions to the relationship bumps and hurdles are realistic and not always easily solved. A simple “I’m sorry” isn’t enough and I always appreciate that the couples have to actually talk through their issues before their HEAs.
Morgan can’t stand cheaters and liars. She doesn’t believe in love but she just got a job in SEVEN, a famous tech company to develop her dating app. But her boss happen to be his brother’s best friend and her only one night stand one year ago. CAn Morgan and Bennett have a future with their past demons and mistakes chasing them? Good love story
I listened to this book on Audible. I love Jacob Morgan and Virginia Rose.
Morgan and Bennett were perfect for each other. She is an intelligent and educated lady. He is the son of the owner of the company she works.
They fall in love, but not after going through a roller coaster of emotions/situations.
Imagine throwing all inhibition to the wind and indulging in the siren’s call of a one-night stand. This is the reality that faced Morgan and Bennett. The duo gave in to temptation and experienced a night that would not be forgotten anytime soon. While that tryst remains a memory, neither Morgan nor Bennett expected to see each other ever again. Until fate decided to push these two together once more……
A year has passed since this duo dipped their toes into the pool of temptation, and nothing could have prepared either to cross paths once more. When Mogan finally lands her dream job, she meets Bennett once more. Imagine the surprise when these two discover that Bennett is Morgan’s brother’s best friend from college. Would it make things even more interesting to uncover the fact that Bennett is also Morgan’s boss’ son?? Things are about to get shaken up as these two can’t put their one-night stand in the past where it belongs. Temptation and close proximity will bring these two closer to the fact that they have more in common than a simple attraction.
The Trouble with Love is a humorous romance that will definitely leave you falling in love with the main characters. Bennett is faced with the difficult realization that he knows his best friend’s sister in the biblical sense. Morgan is on the path of success and Bennett just placed a major roadblock in her way. The way they deal with their attraction while using their skillset in the workforce leaves quite a few funny incidents. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two navigate through the business world while fighting their attraction. What’s not to love about a guy falling in love with his best friend’s sister? Make sure you add The Trouble with Love to your reading collection!!
This is a sweet and heartfelt story. Morgan and Bennett are perfectly matched but they do have their issues. I loved how the navigated through all the ups and downs. Morgan was a little dramatic but the way Bennett stood by her side was amazing. I enjoyed this story.
The Trouble With Love was my first read by Claire Contreras and she is now sitting in my top ten favorite authors. Y’all, I am happily fixing to go down the rabbit hole of Claire’s backlist and I am never looking back. This book was everything I needed in my life right now and so much more. I literally sat in the parking lot of my local mall ALL day just to escape from life and devour this book. I loved this book so much that I feel like I could word vomit throughout this whole review about how much I love this book.
On Morgan’s first day of her new job, she discovers that her brother’s best friend and boss’s son is the same guy she had a hot one night stand with. Being assigned as his fill-in assistant is even worse. But as she begins developing her dating app and they begin spending more time with each other, the flame from months prior begins burning even brighter. They make a pact to get each other out of their system on a business trip to Las Vegas, but is one weekend enough? What happens when Morgan finds out the guy she’s been chatting with on her dating app is Bennett?
Presley is such a remarkable heroine! She’s dealt with so much and she’s such a strong independent woman. This line from the book completely spoke to me, “I guess you’ll need to find your light elsewhere because I’m not going to let you drain mine.” This broken heroine found the strength to stand up for herself in one of her most heartbreaking moments. She wasn’t just going to sit down and let any man, including the Hero, lie and manipulate her! And that my friends was when I knew this character was a complete and utter bada**!
The supporting characters are also awesome and I hope that each and every one of them gets a book of their own. I will be diving into Nate and Presley’s story in The Consequence of Falling next, but I’m crossing my fingers hoping we will get a story featuring Devon and Nora. All in all, this book was amazing and I think you should totally read it, fangirl over it, and go down the rabbit hole with me if you haven’t already.
Loved this book- Morgan is going to work for a tech company only to find out her brother’s best friend is her boss. She has created a dating app and testing it on the company employees. She is paired with her boss. This was such a fun read. I love everything Claire writes. She is an amazing story teller
I loved Bennett and Morgan. They both experience heartbreak in their previous relationships. Their chemistry together was great.
I really enjoyed this book Morgan & Bennett were just the cutest couple and it was great seeing the banter back and forth between them it was funny loved that it wasn’t a typical love story but still a Hea.
This was a wonderful love story. I definitely recommend this book and this author.
Having a one-night stand with a guy and later finding out that the man is your big brother’s best friend is a big surprise. And a bigger surprise than that, he’s the son of the owner of the company you have always dreamed of working for. Such is the situation for Morgan at the start of the book.
There is a strong chemistry between Bennet and Morgan, but Morgan’s brother Devon is very protective of his little sister and it would mean big trouble between Bennet and Devon. Also, Morgan is now working at Bennet’s company that he founded with his father, a tech company called Seven. Although there are no rules against fraternizing between co-workers, both understand that it’s better to let things as just friends.
Bennet’s personal situation is even worse. He was married when he hooked up with Morgan one year ago. His marriage was in the rocks and he was getting drunk because of that when he met Morgan. Since then, he has gotten a nasty divorce and is now enduring the trials of a psycho ex-wife who had cheated with him, got pregnant with the other guy but now wants him back.
With this plethora of background noise, Morgan and Bennett are treading a path full of potholes. The story is entertaining, the pace is good, and the characters are pleasant although not fascinating. Morgan has a hate/anger relation with her mother because she was a drug addict and ran a prostitute house when Morgan was a child. Morgan was subjected to shady acts and was forced to endure shady acts herself; she got out as soon as she could but she hates her mother most because she slept with Morgan’s fiancée. All Morgan’s feelings and attitudes throughout the book are affected by the consequences of her upbringing. I felt for her and understood her perfectly when she traveled to Vegas for work and reluctantly met with her mother. She was pleasant but dismissive and firm in her rejection of a relation with her mother. It was the most real situation in the book for me.
So with this background, Bennett and Morgan start a relation but of course it has a very slow start and eventually it is doomed from all angles, and we see how they work at forgiving each other and in Morgan’s case, dealing with her issues.
I liked all the characters and the story but it was not a fascinating and riveting read for me. I found there was passion and depth lacking in some scenes and dialogues, and the characters didn’t have all the facets that make them interesting. This was a mostly linear plot with no heavy issues except for the druggie mother. I saw the part of the psycho ex-wife as mostly funny since it was so irrational and the ensuing fight between Bennet and Morgan just didn’t make sense. I thought Morgan made a mountain out of a hill in this case, or maybe the author had to use this flimsy excuse to make for a conflict to give the story some spice.
I really enjoyed Bennett and Morgan’s story. I was instantly enthralled in this book. Claire’s writing is phenomenal and gets better with each book she writes! Perfect summer/beach read!!
4 Stars
The Trouble with Love is the latest stand-alone novel by Claire Contreras. It is a best friends younger sister/office romance that hooked me from the first page. Full of steamy banter and crazy good chemistry, The Trouble with Love is a fantastic story that was impossible to put down. Ms. Contreras unique writing voice is evident throughout the entire novel.
After the most amazing one night stand Morgan has ever had, she figures she’d never see him again. Fast forward a year later and landing her dream job everything seems to fall into place. But nothing is ever that easy and seems like fate has other plans…
Bennett is over relationships and doesn’t believe in love. Focused on his company and the occasional hookup, he is not expecting his stance to change at all. So when he meets his best friends younger sister all bets are off.
I adored this story so much! Other than wishing there was a little bit more depth, The Trouble with Love was an enjoyable story. I loved the characters and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Contreras comes up with next!
