The Trouble with Gravity is a beautiful story that takes place in the Broadway world. Sebastian and Kai don’t get off to a great start and encounter quite a few twists and turns along the way. K.K. Allen wrote a great book and I really loved how she described each dance perfectly and also included the YouTube video. Don’t miss this one!
The trouble With Gravity is book three on the Gravity series but it can definitely be read as a standalone. In this installment we get Kai and Sebastian story.
Kai is a dancer at our favorite center. Amazing strong girl who is currently struggling with life and its ups and down. She didn’t have an easy childhood due to her parents passing. Later on she gets a proposal that will change her life forever. She meets bad boy Sebastian, Broadway musician and producer. What she didn’t’ know is that he was gonna help her overcome all her fears and will wake up strong feelings.
Kai and Bash are a beautiful couple. They start as friends, even though the chemistry between them is undeniable. They help each other grow and their love is sincere and defies the odds presented. I really loved this book.
KK Allen proves once again how much talent she has with words and building a story that touches her readers.
The Trouble with Gravity is a story about the healing power of love and learning to trust in not only ourselves but in others. Sebastian has the reputation of being rude and unfriendly, but with good reason. His past hasn’t been easy and his trust in himself has been in question along with how he relates to others. Being stand-offish his his self protection method but as his story plays out you can’t help but root for him to learn and accept the Kai’s friendship along the way. His protectiveness of Kai is built on friendship first and develops into a strong and trusting relationship but it’s not an easy path for these two.
Kai’s past is tragic and her anxiety and fears are heartbreaking. She has lived her life on the brink, focusing on her dance but barely making it, until the opportunity to perform in Sebastian’s cruise ship production comes her way. Her fears could hold her back but her belief in herself and with Sebastian’s help she faces and conquers them one at a time. Together they face their fears and their past and find that together they are stronger, that love and trust go hand in hand.
A beautiful story that shows the power of love can help heal the past and pave way for a shining future.
This book deserves so much more than just 5 ! Stars are not enough to describe just how amazing this story truly is! KK ALLEN captured just how healing love can be when you allow it into your life! Not just love from others but to have love for yourself!
Sebastian and Kai have very deep scars and through their friendship they learned to heal! Neither wanting more they navigated their new normal together and found ways to learn how to love who they are! If only the attraction could disappear then maybe they can end this gig unscathed but friendship is the perfect foundation for the “more” neither was looking for!
I fell hard for Kai’s strength and determination! When the world has tested her over and over again she got back up and didn’t let herself get sucked into despair! She also has amazing friends that hold her up and keep her going (it was so great reading about everyone again)! Sebastian is a grump of a man but he’s a man with a story and even when he doesn’t want to let Kai in her still finds himself drawn to her and we get to see that there is more to the man than leather and pain!
This book will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It will make your heart stop. It will make you wish you could change the past. But, I promise, it will be worth every word.
Kai and Sebastian have such a troubled and broken past. They both strive for love in their own way. Sebastian is an asshole of all asshole, but I loved him from the beginning. Kai has a heart of gold. She’s sweet and talented.
Everyone has their own skeletons in their closets, it is what you do with those that can make or break your future. With Kai it was the tragic death of her father and with Sebastian it is the truth behind his bad boy image. When the two are thrown together with the production of the musical he wrote both learn that opening yourself up to finding strength in someone else is not making you more broken it is allowing you to fly. This storyline had me hooked from the opening pages and I just fell in love with Kai and Bash. Another great read.
This book shot way up on my favorites list!
First off, I adore this series. But with this book, K.K. Allen kicked it up a notch.
I was immediately connected to Kai. She had such a beautiful tenacity and determination about her. Sebastian was an enigma of a character and I immediately wanted to know all about him. The chemistry, and banter, between these two was evident and didn’t feel forced or rushed.
Another slam dunk for K.K. Allen!
Once again, I swear KK Allen will throw everything at you with all the feels and the raw emotions. The Trouble with Gravity will break you and mend you and everything in between! The push and pull between Kai and Sebastian is beyond brilliant. My heart broke with both of these because of how tragic and emotional their history is but it also was put back together as these two grow together.
The one thing I really loved about this story is while it is fictional, it feels so real. Like these two are really happening. It was like a fluid motion of a film or a tv show. My mind was blown at how stunning the depth of this story is. The one thing I adore about Allen’s work is the depth of the research she has put into her stories.
Overall, this is a brilliant addition to the Gravity series. Honestly, I cannot say too much because I HATE SPOILERS! This is one of those books you will have to just read and wrap yourself up into the world that Allen has to created. You will not be disappointed!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
“I was caught in his electric web, arresting and far too complicated to mean anything good.”
Kai lives to dance and is ambitious to make it big. When an amazing opportunity comes along to help pave the way to a brighter future, she’s dismayed to learn that it would also mean that she has to face her biggest fear of all.
“She was all-consuming, and I couldn’t remember the last time I’d ever let anyone get close to me like that, in a way that took hold of my senses and refused to let them go.”
Sebastian is signed up for one final run of his own show to fulfill an obligation. He has his job cut out for him when he has to persuade his best bet on a successful show to overcome her fears. Their mutual attraction – and the fact that neither need it in their lives – doesn’t really help. However, the pull towards each other cannot be denied.
“I knew it wasn’t just my music she’d breathed life into. She’d breathed life into me too.”
This was fab read. Kai was a confident, sassy character. I loved her zest for life, in spite of the tragedy in her past, and I admired her courage to face her fears. Sebastian was the cocky bad boy but, underneath it all, he was so caring and protective. He blew hot and cold towards Kai, but he had his reasons. I loved that no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t keep away. They had fantastic chemistry and I loved how the other made life that much better and sweeter.
The Trouble with Gravity by K. K. Allen was beautiful like music and free flowing like dance. It won my heart with it’s swoonworthy and breathtaking emotions. The words created a carnival of love, sensuality and other deep emotions where music and dance played perfect catalysts.
Kai has been born and brought up in Hawaiian soil but at very young age one big traumatic event created an intense phobia about sea in her heart. Now she is working hard to make a great career as dancer. And she got cast in an amazing role in a show composed by the genius Broadway star musician Sebastian Chase. The problem? The show is in a cruise ship. And they have this undeniable chemistry between them. Sebastian has his own demons associated with this musical. Can he let Kai in or would this bad boy of Broadway break her heart?
The chemistry between Kai and Sebastian is the strongest point of this story. The energy and attraction is flowing between them like charged particles. They are both artists and they bond with each other on a different level. They have sizzling hot physical chemistry but I was floored by their mental connection. Sebastian helped Kai to overcome her anxiety and become better as a dancer. And Kai became his muse, a lighthouse for his wandering soul and a healing touch for his broken heart. Sebastian is a complex and fascinating character. He surprised me at every turn. His professional life entangled with his personal life and left him wrecked. And he is this bitter, arrogant, rude and bad person to everyone. But he has this hidden heart big as sea and Kai brought it out. And I fall in love even more. Kai is equally sensational. I am awed by her art, her passion for dancing , her compassionate heart and her constant struggle to become stronger. She loved Sebastian and fought for it even when the external forces were trying to end them. The finale was simply beautiful and made me cry in happiness.
K.K. Allen writes in such captivating way about true emotions that I cannot help but fall under her spell. She makes every scene, every character and every feeling come alive with her beautiful writing. The Trouble with Gravity is a celebration of love.

Rating 5 Stars
The Trouble with Gravity is the third novel in K.K. Allens Gravity series. It can be read as a standalone but you should totally read those others as well because this series is amazing.
I knew as soon as I finished that prologue that this was going to be an amazing story and I was not wrong. It definitely pulled at my heartstrings!
I fell so in love with Kai and Sebastian. They are both dealing with things from their past and start an amazing friendship that turns into so much more when they can’t fight their intense attraction for one another and when both their pasts come back to haunt them they help each other become stronger.
This was another beautifully written sexy slow burn packed with angst and emotion. We see past characters, a whole lot of dancing links (which I LOVE) and some amazing friendships. I love being back in this world and I hope we get another Gravity book in the future.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
One invitation to an audition and her heart is racing, her feet are dancing and maybe her luck is changing.
The pink tights had to go, the splash, her face priceless!
Now he watches her move effortlessly to his music. Her rythem and style second to none. She’s the one!
Details delivered, hesitatation sets in, what is holding her back from giving them both what they need.
Can he, the bad boy of Broadway change her mind before the ship sails?
This is a story that danced upon my heart from start to finish. I was in seventh heaven the whole time.
The banter, the drama, the indecision oh how my heart sang!
The desire, denial, and pull towards each other, had me humming excitedly in my seat desperate for more more more.
I fell in love with the characters hard and fast as I lost myself to the production.
Kai is a fantastic character, and to watch her bloom and grow was an honour.
Sebastian is the guy all the girls want! He has the bad boy image and attitude, he rocks the bejesus out of his music and hes just utterly amazing!
K.K Allen is one of my favourite authors and this series is one that I will revisit time and time again.
A true five star read!
The newest by K.K. Allen brings us Kai, a dancer at heart but also a woman trying to overcome her fears in a way she never expected. Then we have a musician, Sebastian, who is trying to redeem himself but feels lost as well. Two people who, because of circumstances, help each other in a way they never expected. I loved that from the outside Kai seems feisty, strong but in the inside she is still the little lost girl who well still hasn’t properly grieved. Having Sebastian helping her was beautiful and in a way her determination in not giving up is the key for him to see about himself. Once again K.K. Allen brings us back to Gravity dance yet showing us two people so opposite learning to love through Broadway. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Kai and Sebastian’s story is a beautifully written story with an in-depth plot and unique characters who have undeniable chemistry. This story is an emotional roller coaster ride which leads to a riveting and poignant love story which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I highly recommend for all readers.
I had no idea what to expect going into this. A friend recommended trying KK and I was like sure since she has always been spot on in the past. I’m so glad I picked this up and kicking myself for not reading her before.
I devoured this story in one sitting. It’s rare that happens and a story need to pull me. From that prologue that sucked me and left me heartbroken to that very last page, I was captivated. It had everything a great romance should have from the slow burn buildup to the romance and a little mix of drama. The chemistry was off the charts, the back and forth banter of true enemies to lovers, and just a great story with amazing characters.
I can’t wait to pick up another book by KK in the future.
*3,5-4 stars*
Honestly I don’t really know how to feel and to review it. The beginning was very promising and had me in knots already as it was emotionally charged. I was a bit let down after the first chapter. Even though it had so much going for it and I felt the story more and more when reading into it. Music and drama going hand in hand together was definitely one that was going for this story. In the end it was gripping but just missed a little bit of “je ne sais quoi”. A good overall story though!
Kai has been through a lot and tries to go by every single day although it’s hard when she’s almost evicted from her place after trying to land back on her feet. After a solid audition, she lands a job in a new arranged production but it’s on a ship and that’s what she’s dreading the most. She’s changed a lot over the years and when she meets Sebastian, everything seems to be changing around her even more. When everything seems to be slipping out of Sebastian’s hands he does whatever it takes to makes his last production a success. After a lot of whirlwinds he sees what potential and talent Kai’s bringing to the show and will do anything to protect his legacy but at what cost in the end…
Why do I feel like I’m making a deal with the devil?”
“I’m surely no angel, sweetheart.
The Trouble with Gravity is hands down one of my favorite reads from KK Allen ever—and the best in the Gravity Series (IMO). I’ve always loved grabbing a book from KK because she writes beautifully, but her stories are also moving and realistic, even if they are fiction… and The Trouble with Gravity was all that and so much more! From the moment I started reading, I was glued to my seat! Since it was nearly 3 am when I finished reading this one, I was absolutely exhausted, but it was oooohhhhh sooooooo worth the extra caffeine I needed to get through my day! KK delivered a beautifully written romance that is angsty, seXXXy , witty and sweet. I swooned big time for these characters and the plot was wonderfully entertaining. I loved the realism and depth of character in this particular story and find KK is a master at delivering strong heroines and heroes who make you hot under the collar! Kia was an amazing heroine!!! She showed strength and beauty, grace and stubbornness with equal measure. And while her backstory broke my heart, her drive to overcome the obstacles in her past made her absolutely outstanding. And Sebastian?! Jesus, I needed a hero just like him in my life. KK couldn’t have written a more perfect counterpart for this wildly beautiful sports/contemporary romance! The chemistry between this pair is damn near tangible and it made for a delicious, slow-burn romance which I can’t wait to read again… and again… If you do nothing else, BUY THIS BOOK!!! You’ll be starting a guaranteed five-star read and thanking those of us who insisted you pick it up immediately.
Quotes:
I realized all the shit I’d been through over the past seven years had only led me to Kai. And it was worth every tortured second.
…We were both breathing heavily, and I knew it wasn’t just my music she’d breathed life into. She’d breathed life into me too.
He was mysterious, and I couldn’t ignore the force he had over me, a pull he clearly felt too. That was the trouble with gravity. It couldn’t be stopped. It couldn’t be ignored. I was completely at its mercy, even when the one thing I felt myself gravitating toward refused to let me in. In this case, that one thing was Sebastian.
He kissed me like he was a gambler unafraid to go all in, moving slowly at first, as if not wanting to give away his confidence before blinding me with it.
A strong heroine, swoon worthy hero and tantalizing story captured my attention from the start! I loved Kai and Sebastian!
An incredible journey of well developed characters from the beginning with witty and clever banter and immediate attraction. Kai and Sebastian’s chemistry was evident and I felt the emotion seep through the pages. Kai’s past trauma was so empathetically supported by Sebastian’s insight and determination. Kai was understanding of Sebastian’s dilemma and past.
I love the creative nature of KK Allen’s Gravity Series and this story exudes all that is phenomenal in her writing!
I absolutely loved Kai & Sebastian!! They both were dealing with some old scars that had never healed (that prologue……it will break your heart!), but together they were able to help each other heal and move forward. I loved that it didn’t happen quickly, but that it spanned the course of their time on the cruise ship. They were just wonderful together and the emotion put into this story was incredible. Lighter in angst than normal from the author, but the story between these characters will just draw you in and you won’t want it to end.
