“Whoa! I’m shook–emotionally and physically–from this sensational romance. K.k. Allen has outdone herself with The Trouble with Gravity. With her silky-smooth style and unique storyline, this enemies to lovers journey is one of my favorite reads of 2019.” USA Today Bestselling Author, Harloe RaeKai’s life is a series of choreographed steps, each one shielding her from the tragic memories of her … tragic memories of her past. Audition, dance, paycheck, repeat. It’s a broken record, but it’s what keeps her world spinning.
When a tall mysterious stranger zooms into her life wielding an Aussie accent like it’s a weapon and effectively shattering her tightly woven cocoon, her safe and secure world quickly begins to unravel.
Sebastian’s theater production is a sinking ship. To add insult to injury he’s obligated to give it one final run.
The mission is simple–salvage what he can before they all go down with the wreckage. But first he needs to convince the woman who despises him, despite her darkest fears, to join the cast.
Without her, his past will undoubtedly destroy his future. But with her… he may be opening himself up to more of a challenge than he bargained for.

Kai is a dancer who goes on an audition and meets Sebastian who is Broadway’s bad boy. They don’t start off on a good note. Kai is excellent in her audition and gets the part. When it’s revealed where the show she declined the offer but Sebastian gets her to agree. Both Kai and Sebastian have some issues can they work through them and see each other. Great characters and storyline. I totally loved this book. Highly recommended. Love the dance clips
This story certainly captivated me from start to finish. The characters and storyline are different and meshed well with one another. Sebastian I admit took a while for me to like but his development and his influence on Kai’s, made me love him at the end. Kai is strong and determined, which made me adore her from the get go. One story that you should read!!
I don’t even know where to begin. The Trouble With Gravity was magical. The push and pull sets everything into motion; the characters were merely vessels to Earth’s harmonious dance. There were so many moments in this book that took my breath away. Trouble with Gravity was not just a sweet and sexy romance; it was perfection!!
Kai was stuck in an endless cycle. She loved dancing but it was almost wash, rinse, repeat. When an amazing opportunity presented itself, could she overlook the similarities of the past or would it cause her too much pain. All the signs are pushing her to say yes, but could her mind allow her to?
Sebastian was the bad boy of Broadway, or so people thought. But what would happen when Kai didn’t fall for his act? Would he allow her to see behind the curtain before it was too late?
Their chemistry was off the chart! Kai was the heat Sebastian need to melt his iced over heart! This book sure sent my 2019 out with a bang!! Way to go KK Allen; you have created a masterpiece!!
4.5 stars
Kai is a dancer and she joins an audition to be in a secret project. The big day, a man on a motorcycle ruins her outfit and she gets mad at him because he doesn’t apologize. Plus, she’s already late for the beginning of the selections and she’s getting mad, because she needs to find another dancing job immediately, since she’s in a dire situation. Kai later finds out the man who splashed water on her outfit a few hours before is none other than Sebastian, a famous musician who is also part of the project she’s auditioning for, and she thinks that there’s no chance she’ll get the part, because he looks like he doesn’t like her at all. Turns out Kai gets the job but will have to decide what to do: she will say yes or she will decline?
I already read a few books by K.K. Allen and I know she can write nice stories. Like other past heroines of her books, Kai is a badass woman who takes care of herself and does all that she can to survive everyday life and make it in the dance world. She’s lucky because she could study and already get several dancing gigs, but dancing is not a stable job so this is a great opportunity for her. The only thing blocking her from saying yes is a trauma from her past. The book opens with a flashback of Kai when she was 8 years old, on the night she lost her father because he drowned in the ocean. This bit is important because the gig Kai is offered happens on a cruise ship that’s going to be out at sea for a couple of days every week. Kai doesn’t feel safe to join the cast because of this, but Sebastian, who at first sight comes off as rude and annoying, tries to convince her that she’s not in danger and that he wants her to accept the offer. She might even get more at ease with her trauma by facing it head on, who knows.
Opposite to Kai, we have Sebastian, who is the “star” of the show Kai is going to be the main dancer of. He is famous because of his music and talent, but also because of his personality and scandals. He is wary of people and doesn’t let anybody in, especially women. We’ll find out along the story why is that and how some scandals aren’t what they seemed they were. Sebastian is also very private and doesn’t let anybody in his creative process, but he’ll see that Kai is not only a good dancer, she could inspire him to create more.
Kai and Sebastian are like day and night. While Kai is confident, friendly, nice, Sebastian is selfish, antisocial, cold. These two will help each other face their hardships and move on, embracing a side of themselves they never thought they had. They evolve through the book and are different at the end, stronger, healthier.
There wasn’t much angst between Kai and Sebastian, but a sort of love-hate relationship. Sebastian had more issues than Kai on a side, and ends up being a bit of an idiot at times, but he tries to make up for his shortcomings to Kai and to the other people working with them.
Now I’m adding the previous books of this series to my TBR because I want to know about Kai’s Gravity friends.
Work with gravity instead of against it – a beautiful romance
K.K. Allen writes books that remind me of the reasons why I read romance! So I welcomed the chance to read The Trouble with Gravity, the third book in the Gravity Dance series. Even though this is very much a stand-a-lone within the series, if you’re an addict to this group of dancers like me, you’ll find your own place within Gravity – the 5 Star home of dance.
In this Enemies to Lovers story, I have to say that, holy crap, the push and pull chemistry between Sebastian and Kai was insane! It surely was a living a breathing thing between them. He’d already been bitten before, spectacularly betrayed, and was living with for fallout from his lesson learned, while Kai wasn’t going to just take the treatment he handed out without calling him on it. She was a strong and kickarse young woman who found it very difficult to withstand the temptation that this sexy bad boy of Broadway presented to her, but, she did and I absolutely admired her for it.
One thing I’ve said before about K.K. Allen’s Gravity books, and I’ll say it again until I’m blue in the face, is that I LOVE the links in the eBooks to the YouTube clips of the dance and music vids that inspire, or are inspired by the story. Music is life, and when that is brought together with my need for reading, then perfection is achieved and I just have to slap 5 Stars onto this book!
***5+ Stars!!!***
This book is perfect! This book is everything! I’m totally claiming Sebastian as mine!
The Trouble With Gravity, quickly became one of my favorite reads of 2019! It’s no secret that I fall hook, line, and sinker for every book by this author but this one just might be my new favorite. The journey of this story takes you on an incredible ride filled with lessons of facing fears, being honest with yourself and others, and loving hard even when you’re scared.
This author’s writing is so beautiful. She never ceases to amaze me with her descriptions and the emotions that jump right off the page and directly into my heart.
Kai is one of the strongest heroines I’ve read about. She faced an unthinkable trauma as a child and grows brave enough to face her worst fears in order to help her dreams come true in her career. Sebastian can be such a jerk sometimes but he redeems himself and becomes one of my top book boyfriends of the year, possibly of all time.
Kai and Sebastian both have trauma in their pasts and watching them grow and be strong for each other was perfect. They were able to help each other face their fears and heal the wounds from the past that ran deep in their souls. Their relationship progressed perfectly, with all the right timing.
There is not a single thing I didn’t enjoy about this book. From the very beginning until the end, I was entranced by Kai and Sebastian’s journey.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

The Trouble with Gravity tells a Euphoric story of love, loss, hate, and finding oneself again. One that will have you hating to see it end. K.K. Allen has written the most amazing story of how Kai is trying to find her place in this world will treading water until she finally breaks free from all that has been barley keeping her afloat in life. But when the opportunity of a lifetime finally arises will she decided to sink or pull herself out of the murky depths of life?
Sebastian is the cocky bad boy who could care less what happens to some, but by a splash of a chance he meets the one girl who soon will become everything he is looking for with the finale performance of his play. But can he convince her to stay and take the hand that is offered or will she simply slip away?
The Trouble with Gravity by K.K. Allen had me up all night I couldn’t put this one down at all. K.K. Allen is a new to me author and i am simply hooked now.
OMGEEE! I did not think I could love this series any more, then K.K. Allen creates this piece of brilliance. The Trouble with Gravity captivated me from start to finish with its fantastic writing and its well developed storyline. I fell in love with this story. This series is so unlike anything I’ve ever read and I for one can’t get enough of it. Each new couple steals my heart and I’m always immersed in their stories, together in this fantastic dance world. I’d be more than happy if K. K. Allen could keep writing in this magnificent dance world forever.
I honestly LOVED Kai and Sebastian so hard. Their story was unique, it was refreshing and most of all it was beautiful. Although their physical connection sizzled, it was their mental connection that blew me away. They were both dealing with some old scars that had never healed, but together they were able to help each other heal and move forward. I loved that it didn’t happen quickly, but that it spanned the course of this story. They were just wonderful together and the emotion in this story was incredible. And it was so great to be reunited with the past couples and seeing them so happy together still.
As ever, the interactive links to dance videos only added essence and enhanced my enjoyment of this read. I felt I was living through the performances and it help me get into the vibe of the story.
K.K. Allen proves once again her talent with words and weaving a story that touches and resonates with her readers. The Trouble with Gravity was a beautiful, poignant read and I could not recommend it enough.
Wow! Just a sinfully amazing book! Sebastian and Kai are sooo perfect for one another! What I loved about this book was that’s these characters are equals from start to finish. I just loved their genuine love for one another!!! Can’t wait for more from kk Allen!!
I love how KK Allen’s books give us this artistic, creative story which seriously matches with the way her words seem to just flow like poetry. It just all works so well together. Allen shows her real talent for vivid writing. I enjoyed the way Kia and Sebastian went from just knowing each other in passing to building a close friendship that was really based on respect and a shared passion plus a mutual budding attraction that they both desperately wanted to fight. I didn’t exactly get the enemies to lover’s genre but that isn’t a big factor for me. I don’t read very many books based solely on the genre.
Kia and Sebastian give us a pretty tense and emotional story. They both come together with a baggage (don’t we all) but they are so drawn to each other that it was only a matter of time before one of them cracked. They felt so real to me… the way they played and bantered back and forth, the way they fought and loved… it just felt so authentic. I was totally invested in their story! They had each other’s back though. Integrity is something that’s so important to me and I felt that in them. These two were able to fight their demons and go after their dreams, not just because they wanted them enough but because the other was always next to them, fighting with them. I love that. Plainly put, it’s a gorgeous story of two people both scared but strong. Definitely a must read!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
K.K. Allen has done it again. She has written an emotional journey between two characters with such an unparalleled talent!
The Trouble with Gravity is a love story between two people who start out as enemies. Once they start their interactions with each other their connection is felt through the words on the pages. Once these two open up to each other a beautiful emotional story is brought forth. And what a brilliant story we get.
Kai and Sebastians story will have you feeling all the feels!
Once I started this story I couldn’t put it down and neither will you. Highly recommended.
This author is a first for me, also the gravity series is to.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone I’ve heard.
The prologue opens this book and it starts as a flashback from Kai from when she was 8 year’s old and the dreadful tragedy she went through.
Kai’s life feels a little like a broken record of auditions, dancing and pay checks, repeat, repeat repeat. Kai is a young woman who’s very determined, and likes to give her all, she doesn’t give up easily on her dreams. Kai’s life goes through a lot of ups and downs and at the moment she is finding it pretty tough, she desperately needs a job before she becomes evicted.
Kai has had tragedy in her life that may still be holding her back.
Sebastian or ‘Bass’ does production and is going through a real stressful time at the moment trying to get things sorted. Sebastian doesn’t trust easily and at first he comes across as a bit of a tool himself. Although that changes and he is quite something himself. Sebastian is quite well known and does have scandal surrounding him, however is it what you think ??
Kai and Sebastian first encounter each other when he drenches her on the street from a puddle.
They both have a few old scars that have impacted them.
There is chemistry and attraction between them both right from the off. They have a lot of banter and Kai isn’t afraid to answer him right back.
There is one thing they both have tragedy in there pasts. Although they both work hard to help each other try and heal, and heal each other in different ways.
Sebastian helps Kai to overcome all her anxieties to try and enable her to take the new job she’s offered. In return Kai helps Sebastian to try and heal and in doing so actually inspires him abit like his muse.
Kai shows a lot of strength but the question remains will she overcome her extreme fear or will it hold her back ?
I felt this book was well written.
The characters we’re very strong.
I feel like the author researched this characters job as a dancer extremely well, and thought it was quite cool the dancer job.
The prologue was heart breaking and quite emotional at the beginning but the story wasn’t what I was expecting.
I felt at times for me that the story was in parts a little slow going and I felt that it didn’t hold my attention. In parts I felt that maybe there was something missing. This kindle ebook did have interactive links inside to dancing, the dancers we’re cool just not in a book it felt a little too interactive for my liking.
I did feel that this book wasn’t for me but overall was okay.
This review is provided in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you.
This book brought back the DANCE! Enemies to Lovers is my favorite. The snarky banter, the tension between characters. I love it all. The prologue angst reeled me in and I was hooked. Kai was a strong female lead and Sebastian was a great bad boy star. Their chemistry was palpable and the best part of the book was when Seb was in AWE of her dancing. He knew that he had met a star and he couldn’t let her go no matter how many reasons there were to do just that. With her past, it was understandable why Kai wouldn’t want to get on a boat, I don’t know if I would either, but she faced her fears and Sebastian was right there with her. I would have liked a little more drama and angst, but the story was so sweet and loving. As bad as Sebastian was, he felt like a sweet teddy bear to me at the end. He was loyal and let nothing stand in the way of him and Kai.
Kai and Sebastian were so cute together. I adored couples who took their time to pursue their relationships. The author had written a beautiful story with overcoming fears. Enemy friends to Lover romance sounded so good! Light reading with fresh material. KK Allen had captured my interest with the beat, dance and satisfication
I don’t know what is it about this series but gosh I could not love it more. You know what? I do know, I know exactly what it is.. it’s this magnificent dance world that K. K. has created. This series is unlike anything I’ve ever read and I cannot get enough of it. Each new couple steals my heart and I’m always immersed in them and in this fantastic dance world combined with something else whether it’s sports, music, theater. K. K. could keep writing in this world FOREVER and I’d be the happiest gal for it.
Kai made me a fan of her from the get-go. The prologue broke my heart but each new chapter I read and as I got to see her deal with everything happening in her life, she showed me just how great and strong she is. Sebastian was a straighup jerk in the beginning but I gotta be honest I feel a little in love with him at first glimpse. And you know what I loved? That Kai did not. I love how she stood up to him and gave him a run for his money… I loved their little banter and how even in the very beginning without being anything at all they were already there for each other.
These two characters both have scars… old scars but ones that are still affecting their present and I loved how much they helped each other deal with them and making each other stronger for it. It was very fun, sexy and heartwarming watching these two go from “enemies” to friends to lovers. I love relationships that are a built on a strong friendship foundation and these two built that and I loved reading every single second of it.
I honestly LOVED these two so hard. Their story was unique, it was refreshing and most of all it was beautiful. And for all of you who have been keeping up with this series, you’ll get to see all past couples and ah it was amazing. K. K., I hope you’re at least planning a novella for the other couple that came together in this book. I’d so devour that!
Although this book wasn’t as angsty as the other ones in the series or K. K’s books in general, it still heald so much emotion and gosh her words were so poetic and musically stunning, I just- trust me guys this book is gold!! You need to meet this heartwarming couple.
Seriously, if you love the dancing world and if you love threatre or music… you’ll love this book! The whole series to be honest! So if you’ve haven’t picked it up, please do yourself a favor and do so.
