Like the first in the Series, MAYA HOPE, this starts out with a BANG, and keeps you turning pages all the way to the end; which comes WAY too soon! I would love all great books to keep going, into a Series of 10, 15, 20…. I love getting to “know” the characters! Praying Timothy will write more SOON!! For SURE, READ MAYA HOPE FIRST! XX OO XX
Another fabulous book by Timothy Browne! As he writes his novels the substance of his stories…this one the aftermath of an earthquake…becomes so very real because the author has been there, done that, & survived!
I truly appreciate the manner in which Timothy Browne‘s main character stays ‘human’ by how his faith thrives, wanes, questions, struggles & thrives again; yet the reader is slyly reminded of God’s unconditional, everlasting love … even as we teeter with the balance of moral & ethical dilemmas!
Such an intriguing storyline & as Timothy Browne exhibited in his novel ‘Maya Hope’, so very relevant in this day & age!
I quickly started reading ‘The Rusted Scalpel’ & can already tell it’ll be on my ‘must read’ faith based author list.
Thank you Timothy Browne for these intriguing stories & God Bless you & your family!
A magnificent story from a very talented author! What begins as four seemingly unconnected story lines is seamlessly woven together into a beautiful story set against the horrible natural disaster of a massive earthquake in Turkey. From real life career struggles in Memphis to heartbreaking service to those suffering after the earthquake to the horrors of terrorists in the Middle East, we are encouraged by the spiritual growth of the main characters. It was a book I couldn’t put down! You won’t be disappointed!
This review is for the audio book.
Wow! I am so glad I discovered this author because Timothy Browne certainly knows how to grab your attention and it doesn’t let up until the last word. I love the mix of the medical drama with the terrorism angle and even the questioning of faith works well in the plot. This is book two in the series and continues a few months after book one takes place, this doesn’t mean you have to listen to the first book first, it is a stand alone but I recommend that you do just because I couldn’t put that book down either. The story is so well written that you get the sense that even if the author hasn’t been thorough the adventure himself, he has certainly been to the places he is writing about, either that or he has watched a lot of tv like M.A.S.H. It definitely covers a lot of categories because so much is packed into the story (most of it jail biting). The story is told by several of the characters and does jump around but you won’t be disappointed as it all comes together nicely. I hope there are more books in the series to come.
After another stressful night in the accident and emergency unit of a busy hospital the last thing Nick wants to do is get on a plane and head to Eastern Turkey when an earthquake hits. Joined by his intern who is from the area the pair set off to help the survivors and hopefully find some missing parent’s. Neither of them are prepared for the devastation or the conditions they must face. Battling to save lives they have no time to search for any parents but they still manage to make new friends. Two of the new friends are Russian agent’s sent to find out why people seem to live longer in the area. Is it connected to the free of life? With the country focused on the aftermath of the earthquake terrorist make a play for a land glad. Can Nick and his friends survive an encounter with the Terrorist and find what each of them needs the most?
I like the narrator and think he does a really good job of bringing the characters to life by using a good and varied range of voices.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This nail-biting medical thriller, set in the cradle of civilization accelerates from a natural disaster to the breath-taking finish. In the aftermath of a massive, deadly earthquake, survivors rush away while others rush in. Doctors Nicklaus Hart and Ali Hassan face chaos, misunderstanding, and distrust as they triage and treat the wounded. But they are not the only foreigners who arrive to achieve goals they value above their own lives.
The clash of cultures, languages, political allegiances, religions, and an ancient mystery reveal humanity at its best and worst in The Tree of Life. A deeply satisfying story awaits readers of this second adventure featuring Orthopedic Surgeon Nicklaus Hart.
Author Timothy Browne MD writes from experience on the topic of disaster response. He served on medical teams in Sierra Leone, West Africa after the Blood Diamonds war, in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, and in Sri Lanka after the tsunami struck.
