In this #1 Wall Street Journal bestseller, Tracy Crosswhite must first identify the victim to catch the killer. When a woman’s body is discovered submerged in a crab pot in the chilly waters of Puget Sound, Detective Tracy Crosswhite finds herself with a tough case to untangle. Before they can identify the killer, Tracy and her colleagues on the Seattle PD’s Violent Crimes Section must figure out … Section must figure out who the victim is. Her autopsy, however, reveals she may have gone to great lengths to conceal her identity. So who was she running from?
After evidence surfaces that their Jane Doe may be a woman who suspiciously disappeared months earlier, Tracy is once again haunted by the memory of her sister’s unsolved murder. Dredging up details from the woman’s past leads to conflicting clues that only seem to muddy the investigation. As Tracy begins to uncover a twisted tale of brutal betrayal and desperate greed, she’ll find herself risking everything to confront a killer who won’t go down without a deadly fight. Once again, New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni delivers a taut, riveting thriller in the fourth installment of his acclaimed Tracy Crosswhite series.

The Tracy Crosswaite series of books are some of the best crime novels I have encountered. This is probably the top one of the series.
Continuing story of Tracy Crosswhite. Hard to put down, nice twists to the story line. Good detective read.
I recommend this book
Book 4 of the series about Tracy Crosswhite was a bomb. I really enjoyed it and felt for the characters.
This series is becoming one of my favorites. This outing, number four, begins with a young boy who is crabbing out of season to pick up needed dollars and so goes out before dawn to better remain unseen. A woman’s body is pulled up from the water in a crab trap. I didn’t know crab traps could be that large, but I did some research, and it’s true! Tracy is on the case, and a very complicated case it is. However, Robert Dugoni, whose writing and plotting skills seem better and more evolved with every book, has everything in its place and explains it clearly as we go along. I was holding my breath. The story has everything, including the perfect villain(s) and even a haunted house! I should also mention that I usually hate the use of sections in italics sprinkled through a book to indicate the bad guy’s side of things or another character’s parallel story. Usually that technique is extremely annoying for me. But Dugoni makes it work! My hat is off to him! I was also surprised by the way the plot twisted. It (seemingly naturally) evolved and then the thrilling denouement was very, very well done. I didn’t see that coming!! Finally, I love how the regular characters whom we have come to know in the series also are evolving. Can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.
I really like Dugoni’s work. He has a way of weaving the characters, plot, and settings together. The stories are interesting, the pace is fairly quick. and it is all easy to read and be entertained.
I’ve discovered that this series gets better and better with each new book. This is hands down my favorite so far but I have a feeling I’ll be making that statement again when I finish the next one. I never once thought I had this one figured out, it literally kept me guessing until the very last second. And I can tell ya, I could have drawn all of the conclusions that I wanted and I would have been so far off.
Not worth reading. All too predicatbale
Story took some turns you wouldn’t expect which made it enjoyable.
It took me a little time to get interested;but, hold onto your hat you are in for a great ride!
Great book…wonderful character development…loved it…
I’m loving this series! At first the plot of this book seemed straightforward, then it took some interesting twists and turns. The characters have evolved nicely, with Tracy becoming more mellow and Nolasco becoming less odious. The detectives on Tracy’s squad have been fleshed out and we’re learning details about their lives. It’ll be interesting to see how Tracy adapts to marriage, and whether she is able to work a baby into her intense career.
I have enjoyed reading all of this series. They are good mysteries.
Strong main character and cast of series characters. Victim and perpetrators of the crime were not believable, especially the husband and wife at the center of the plot. Asides from that, the writing was mostly strong and made we want to turn the page.
I love this book. Moves fast. Can’t put down
It held my interest
Enjoyed this book and this author.
Interesting premise, series is well written easy read. Great airplane reads.
I adore Tracy Crosswhite and her world. There has not been a lead character in a mystery/thriller series that I have cared as much about since Kinsey Milhone. I wait for each new book to come out and I get excited to read it.
Great author, great book.
Dugoni has a way with words. I won’t say the ending completely surprised me, but the book was full of twists and turns.
