Curl up with a quirky small-town Alaskan rom-com that’ll leave you laughing over:
A grumpy local and the sunny tourist who turns his world upside down
A rogue moose who threatens to steal every scene
A vacation you’ll never forget
And a sweet romance that doesn’t need to scald the pages to burn its way into your heart
He had a strict “no tourists” policy…until she broke all of his rules. When … tourists” policy…until she broke all of his rules. When Graham Barnett named his diner The Tourist Trap, he meant it as a joke. Now he’s stuck slinging reindeer dogs to an endless parade of resort visitors who couldn’t interest him less. Not even the sweet, enthusiastic tourist in the corner who blushes every time he looks her way…
Two weeks in Alaska isn’t just the top item on Zoey Caldwell’s bucket list. It’s the whole bucket. One look at the mountain town of Moose Springs and she’s smitten. But when an act of kindness brings Zoey into Graham’s world, she may just find there’s more to the grumpy local than meets the eye…and more to love in Moose Springs than just the Alaskan wilderness.
This story of Alaska marries together all the things you didn’t realize you needed: a whirlwind vacation, a friendly moose, a grumpy diner owner, a quirky tourist, plenty of restaurant humor, and a happy ending that’ll take you away from it all.

When I think of a perfect rom-com to watch or read, I want something funny and relatable with perpetual smile on my face. Wow, does this deliver!
I picked this up because a bookclub has the second book in the series coming up on the TBR in just a few weeks. I occasionally will read books out of order, but it’s not my preference.
Graham is a lovable grump and Zoey is idealistic and eager for the perfect Alaskan vacation. Their chemistry is great and they have ideal rom-com moments.
I’m so glad I’ve been introduced to Sarah and her witty prose. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does in book 2 & 3!
This book was joy slipped between pages. I feel like it’s exactly what I needed right now.
If you’re feeling a little bit down, or if you’ve had a few not enjoyable reads in a row, or if you’re looking for an escape to somewhere lovely, you will hug this book when you’re done reading it.
Morganthaler’s dialogue is awesome. Really enjoyed this read.
The Tourist Attraction is a fun and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny contemporary romance in picturesque Alaska between a diner owner who hates tourists, and a tourist overjoyed to be doing touristy things. There’s an overly friendly moose, a dog I want to adopt, a diner called The Tourist Trap, and a small town where everyone knows each others names. Recommended for fans of romance novels.
For everyone looking for a vacation that won’t get one this summer…fall…winter. Morgenthaler brings Alaska to your door, complete with moose and a grumpy one that falls for the sunshine one.
4.5 stars
This book was so incredibly original and creative, with a solid, sweet romance plot line carrying the story, and fun subplots building on top of it. The characters were a bit more like caricatures, and there were definitely more than a handful of of moments that were over-the-top if not completely unrealistic (breaking through airport security, getting arrested in an unlocked cell, Lana’s snobby friends) but once you buy into the campy nature of the novel you can really enjoy it and appreciate it for what it is. Not a moment of this book was boring and something hilarious happens at every turn of the page. The dialogue was sharp and entertaining. I actually think this is a book I could really see being a movie (like The Proposal), maybe even better as a movie. Regardless, I am super stoked to read the next book (Lana’s story)!
Great characters and sweet romance. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
THE TOURIST ATTRACTION by Sarah Morgenthaler. This is the story of Graham and Zoey. It takes place in Moose Springs, Alaska. Graham is a local that runs an eatery that is extremely popular with all. He is a bit on the grumpy side, yet truly has a heart of gold. He cares for his friends, family and the animals. Zoey, is a waitress that has saved for a long time to visit Alaska. She is down to earth and truly enjoys all the beauty that she encounters on the trip. Although, to say she has a bit of bad luck, is truly an understatement. She finds herself in some predicaments throughout. I enjoyed both of these characters and the story itself. This was certainly a slow burn romance as they fought it since she was only there short term. But together, I found them to be a sweet and endearing couple. After a while, the book did drag a bit for me but still found it to be an enjoyable tale that brought me smiles, and even some chuckles, I will certainly read and look forward to future works from this author. This book absolutely sparkles! As a fan of well written romantic comedies, I was coming off of a rom com disappointment and starting to focus on more serious books. This one hit my radar when it came up in a chick lit book club discussion on Instagram. People were loving it, so I read the first few pages on amazon. I was so hooked, I begged my way into the book club discussion, which included a webex chat session with the author! Sarah Morgenthaler has honed her voice as a writer to create snappy, delightful dialogue, and crisply written scenes full of comical action that will keep you turning pages. The love story is adorable. If you’re looking for a rom com that’s actually funny. And well written. And full of all those feels you associate with a good romance. And adds in one of the best bestie relationships ever… This is your book. You won’t be disappointed. The author herself is smart, cheerful, a geologist self-proclaimed “rock nerd,” and gave us so much information about her own exploits in Alaska and stories-behind-the-stories, I am now a super fan!
This is a story about Zoey, a woman who has always wanted to visit Alaska, and one day, saves enough money from her waitressing job to make her dream come true, and go with her wealthy best friend Lana to Lana’s favorite Alaskan destination — Moose Springs. The story is also about Graham — the grumpy owner of a diner that’s popular with the tourists, much to his frustration. (He would rather that the tourists didn’t invade and take over his beautiful little town.) Although Graham vows to never get involved with a tourist, he’s immediately attracted to Zoey. Zoey also feels an attraction to Graham, but of course, she fights it, knowing that she is only in Alaska for a short time, and wouldn’t it be crazy to fall for a man who hates tourists, when she’s a tourist?
The two characters build an interesting relationship. I loved the way they bantered. I also loved some of the ironies that the author weaved throughout the book — like the reindeer dogs that Graham served in his diner and the tourists loved, much to his displeasure. I loved the quirky moose who was attracted to Graham’s truck, and some of the other characters who appeared in the story.
This is a fun, lighthearted read. Although romance stories are predictable, (there will be a happy ending), the author placed her story in a less predictable setting (small town Alaska) and created two main characters who weren’t the usual hero and heroine. They aren’t perfect, but human, and she shares some of their human flaws and frailties. I’ll definitely recommend this one to friends who like rom-coms.
Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Adorable storyline, can’t wait for the sequel!
Can Moose Springs please be real?! This is such a cute rom-com that will have you smiling and laughing along. This book is just so cute, adorable, fun, light, and will make you happy! The knock out star is Jake a blind pup that his super grumpy owner dress up–my heart swooned! As someone who lived in a tourist place I just loved this book, the love and hate relationship of tourists for locals is so real. Graham and Zoey come from different places but build a slow burn of chemistry up overtime that ends with a wonderful HEA. They also have a wonderful banter that keeps the book going!
There is so much fun with:
A trashy Dinner with drawn on reindeer hot dogs
A crazy Moose!
A Chainsaw attack
Time in the local jails drunk tank
A killer whale- but just one!
NARWHALS!! (I mean come on!!)
For a debut this was wonderful! It was truly a rom-com with some many LOL moments! It’s perfect for right now and will make you want to jump on a plane to Alaska! You fall in love with this town with some of the locals and the setting and I can not wait for more of Moose Springs!!
Overall, 4.5 stars and 2 steams!
The Tourists Attraction was a sweet and funny slow burn romance that takes place in a little Alaskan town, that was so beautifully described that it made me want to go there.
When Graham opened his diner he named it Tourist Trap as a joke. Never in his wildest dreams did he thought that it would eventually become the tourist attraction and that people would wait for hours in lines just for the opportunity to go there. To say that he doesn’t like tourists is an understatement. They are interfering with his life and creating problems everywhere they go. But there is one tourist he can’t help but like.
Zoey came in Moose Springs with her best friend Lana and completely fell in love with that little Alaskan town. I loved that friendship that quickly developed between Zoey and Graham, and enjoyed reading about all the adventures they experienced together. My favorite parts of this book were the ones that included Ulysses, the moose, and his adorable and laughable attempts to woo Graham car. Also I adored Jake, Graham dog.
What I didn’t like were the secondary characters,I simply didn’t care about them, and even though I love slow burn romances one thing I really don’t like in them are fade to black scenes.

Cute, cute, cute. This was a perfectly lovely, light and frothy romance with a beautiful setting in a tourist town in Alaska, complete with quirky, sometimes surly locals, and a friendly moose. Our hero, Graham, runs a dive restaurant called The Tourist Trap (complete with hot dogs made from reindeer meat), is famous for verbally abusing his customers, and likes to dress his blind border collie in fun outfits. He was born and raised in Moose Springs, knows all of the other locals, and barely tolerates the summer tourists that sweep through “his” town. When he meets Zoey, an unemployed waitress who is in town for 2 weeks, spent all of her savings on her “dream” trip to Alaska, and is absolutely determined to maintain a positive attitude in the face of some appallingly bad luck (and sometimes bad judgement), he’s immediately smitten, but the problem is, Graham NEVER dates tourists, and any possible relationship with Zoey comes with a guaranteed expiration date.
Watching these two fumble their way to a relationship was adorable. I had a few niggles. Zoey was occasionally a bit TSTL, and the relationship was definitely of the slow burn variety, even though it all took place in a 2 week time period. Still it was a fun ride. I’ve been to Alaska a couple of times and this definitely made me want to go back.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler an attractive five-star read. This is just simply adorable and fun to read, I don’t know if I need to put more for my review as overall this is the equivalent of a warm summer day lazing about with friends, its funny and quirky and has that sense of relaxing you and drawing you in. The setting of Moose Springs Alaska is amazing, the characters are all well plotted and fun, even down to one character’s amazing wardrobe. But most of all Zoey and Graham will make you feel part of their story. This series has legs to go far and I cant wait for number two.
The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler is an adorable, sweet, romantic, and awesome romantic book.
This book had great dialogue, flow, and was an easy and enjoyable read.
One of my favorite places in the WORLD is Alaska, so I knew I just had to read this. I loved the descriptions of the locations and the landscapes, as it made it feel as if I was actually there in Moose Springs. I also loved the cast of characters that inhabited the town, as the secondary characters made the book that much better.
Best of all, I loved Graham and Zoey. They were cute, had chemistry, matched each other well, and I really, REALLY liked them together. I enjoyed the ending and I really think that there are plenty of characters and material that could easily create further installments. I would most definitely jump at the chance to read them!
This is exactly what a modern romance book should be!
Bravo. 5/5 stars. Recommend enthusiastically.
A very charming and easy to read book!
Zoey has saved and scrounged for her dream vacation in Alaska. Graham lives in Moose Springs and dislikes the tourists that make his diner The Tourist Trap such a success. But then he meets Zoey…
She is the first and only tourist he actually likes and soon he realizes he is in over his head. But Zoey is only in Alaska for 2 weeks.
Moose Springs is filled with characters who could star in a next book in this series. I enjoyed the story very much and hope to see Zoey and Graham again. I loved the dog, Jake (but why dress him up haha) and the zany interactions of the villagers. Great book. (2020)
