A city cloaked in a legend too fanciful to be true.An ancient tribe, who has vowed to protect their gods until the end of time.A shipwreck scattered with gold, and drawings of a mythical beast.Sam Reilly is on the hunt to find an ancient tomb, before El Dorado is lost forever…
Action packed story
Really enjoy all of the Sam Reilly books.
Didn’t expect it to be science fiction. Wanted a Clive Cussler-type adventure.
Interesting weave of history fantasy and adventure. Characters are too big to be real, as are the giant armadillos that hack up golden hairballs. Still, the adventure holds the reader through improbable scenarios to a satisfying conclusion. The “epilogue” is really just a teaser for the next volume.
Exciting treasure hunt novel. Many twists and turns to plot. Excellent ending
The Tomb of El Dorado
Sam Reilly, Book 18
By: Christopher Cartwright
Narrated by: David Gilmore
I love this series! The adventure and characters always have a terrific myth or legend, a bit of paranormal, but lots of action and suspense! It’s a cross between a Clive Cussler and Indiana Jones! Never boring!
The narration was excellent as usual!
This one will not disappoint. A fantastic plot involving an ancient tribe and a city cloaked in mystery. Will Sam reilly put the pieces together and uncover the lost tomb of El Dorado? Join him on his globe-hopping journey as he tracks down clues, not knowing a previous contact might not be as upfront as Sam thinks.
If you enjoy fast-paced and exciting stories, this is definitely one for you! Yes, you might have to skip over some typos, but the plot makes it all worthwhile!
Who can you trust?
I couldn’t get into this book
Book has great action and enjoyed it thoroughly once into the story. Prologue was too long and dry. Almost put it down before I made it to the story plot.
I found it disjointed. Situations arose without foundation. Much of it made no sense.
The Lead Character is good, sidekick not well developed. Jumps around a little and sometimes I thought I skipped a page or two.
Waste of time…
would have given it 4.5 , writing held my attention.
A truly fun book to read. If you like adventure books, this one is a page turner that is fast paced and full of adventure. A worth while read.
I have read quite a few of the Sam Reilly stories. I generally get a good entertaining story, and this was the same. For #18 in the series though, I’m surprised how unpolished the writing was in this one. Note this is for the kindle version. There were whole paragraphs of description that were almost repeated several times for some of the locations. Wrong words used on occasion. Almost like the kindle version was a rough draft. Normally I can get through those, especially for a new author. But this was hard to take.
Good time filler
Too implausible.
Big action story but after enough action and hard to believe craziness it starts getting just plain silly. Went on about three or more tight spots too many.
I liked the story line. That was very entertaining. Everything seems to happen a little too easy for Sam to be believable. I still liked the the story though. Lots of action.
