Audrey Niffenegger’s innovative debut, The Time Traveler’s Wife, is the story of Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, an adventuresome librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: … Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.
The Time Traveler’s Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare’s marriage and their passionate love for each other as the story unfolds from both points of view. Clare and Henry attempt to live normal lives, pursuing familiar goals–steady jobs, good friends, children of their own. All of this is threatened by something they can neither prevent nor control, making their story intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

My all time favorite book… true love lasts through the ages
Made me think.
This was a heartfelt book. It was sweet and sad sometimes. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This book sits in my library as one to reread occasionally. This tale is so unique that I dare not write a sentence about it for fear of giving away a mystery held in the storytelling.
Very interesting
I tried to read this book twice. I enjoyed it but the jumping back and forth in time was really confusing for me. I have it in paperback and will probably try reading again.
This book is so very touching!!
One of my all-time favorite books!
Difficult to keep the story straight. Back and forth in time made it confusing at time to read.
I loved this book! It’s one of my all time favorites. You really come to care about the characters in this complex novel.
One of my favorite tales. I’m not a fan of Romance novels. This love story was a non-stop read. It’s a good book club choice.
Not a fan of books that go from present to past and future.
Wonderfully imaginative; made for a great movie as well.
Romantic.
Fun premise, easy read

This is a wonderful story, richly told and spilling over with happiness and sorrow, much like life. It makes me want to be a better writer.
