Renowned physicist Lance Everett has two great passions: donuts and time travel. The only thing that rivals them is Juliet Bradley, the redheaded beauty who captured his heart at a college football game. After reconnecting with her a decade later, Lance can’t imagine his life being more complete. Even without a time machine, he foresees a happy marriage and a breakthrough in his scientific … pursuits.
Until the unthinkable happens.
Now Lance is left searching for answers and questioning what he values the most. A chance encounter with a mysterious man offers him some unexpected solace, as well as the opportunity of a lifetime. But the stakes are higher than he ever imagined. Will he risk it all to gain back what he lost, even if the consequences can never be reversed?

Wow! Just, wow! It’s been a while since I’ve read any Science-Fiction lately, but this book just blew out my mind!
The Time Rift, by Liwen and David Ho, tells the story of Dr. Lance Everett, who specializes in all things quantum physics and time travel (if I’m doing an awful job of describing it, my apologies, but I’d say it’s a miracle that my brain is actually functioning after having finished that book). After “the unthinkable happens” we follow him on a wild journey that ends up satisfying a wide range of readers since this book has a bit of everything: it has a bit of romance, suspense, mystery, some full action-packed scenes, and of course, a whole lot of scientific explanations (which, up to a certain point, the reader could consider it bordering on too much, but to me, the authors did a pretty good job of handling it: you need the scientific explanations to understand how this book/story/world/dimension works, but it’s managed so masterfully that it ends up having perfect sense, and you can actually keep up and understand it).
All in all, a great read that will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out how everything’s going to play out, and that will have you guessing at the answers up until the very end of it.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Incredible! I don’t read a lot of Sci Fi, but our family movie is the Back to the Future Trilogy! Time travel is just an amazing idea! This husband and wife team, made a wonderful contribution to both the Romance and Sci Fi genres! Exciting, romantic, scary, emotional, and filed with tons of Nerdy information! A beautiful blend! I received an advance copy from the author
This is called a time travel romance book but I think it’s more of a sci-fi action adventure. It was ok but I was disappointed.
The only part of this book that I skimmed was the detailed physics that was painful. The story was really interesting with twists and turns.
Dealing with inconsolable grief, Dr. Lance Everett has stopped living. Until approached by a businessman who gives him the opportunity to discover the identity of the person who destroyed his chance at a happy ending. Grasping onto the only hope he feels he has, he enters a world that is not what it seems. . .
This was an interesting book with plenty of time travel discussions, action and suspense. And a touch of romance that was so very sweet. I connected with the characters right away. There were some interesting points about the dangers of a time machine should it fall into the wrong hands. The theories that Lance was working with about what a time machine would actually do was also fascinating and different from what I’ve heard before.
There were a couple of little things that didn’t make sense to me, but they didn’t really take away from my enjoyment of the story. One of the main ones was that when Lance thought that he would never see Juliet again because he didn’t have her phone number or address, he never considered going back to her aunt’s house to find her. And that she didn’t start frequenting the donut shop when she knew he hung out.
The ending hints at more books to follow, but there was a clear and happy resolution .

I would like to thank Liwen Ho for giving me this item. My opinion and review were not influenced by this gift.
Buckle up and get ready for a wild ride. An adventurous story about time travel and the problems caused by it. A real page turner and a surprising ending.
