After a painful loss, Cady Moreland is coming to Magdalene to start the next chapter of her life. A chapter that began eighteen years ago but had a heartbreaking ending. The time in between was full of family and friendship, but Cady could never get the man she fell in love with all those years ago out of her heart.Coert Yeager has learned to live without the girl who entered his life right when … right when she shouldn’t and exited delivering a crippling blow he never would have suspected. The time in between was full of failing to find what he was missing…and life-altering betrayal.
But when that girl shows up in Magdalene and buys the town’s beloved lighthouse, even if Coert wants to avoid her, he can’t. A fire in town sparks a different kind of flame that won’t be ignored.
As Cady and Coert question the actions of the two young adults they once were thrown into earth-shattering circumstances, can they learn from what came in between and find each other again?

Well worth the wait for the final book in the series. Kristen Ashley is a wonderful author. She became my favorite author a few years ago and I read alot. Her characters suck you in and you never want to leave. All of her books have been read over and over again. Start now and you’ll never be sorry.
Two days later and I am still not sure how I feel…
The Time in Between was one of those books that I hate to love. So many parts of this story felt unnecessary to me, but I couldn’t stop reading. There were a couple of times I almost skipped to the end to see how it ended but I couldn’t do it. I’ve learned with Kristen Ashley books that there is a method to her madness and even if we don’t understand it somehow it works. Any other author and I probably would have quit but KA has sucked me in entirely to her world of alphas.
Cady & Coert were just a mess!! That is the best way to describe it. Cady fell in love with the undercover cop that was Coert but even when she found out who he really was she still loved him. I’m talking desperate love that consumes you which was so beautiful but there were so many times that I felt like she just let everyone especially Coert walk all over her. When she finally found her strength after the mess with the Coert when she was younger, she had a family and anything she could have ever needed. Yet, she still seemed like she was always pleasing everyone around her which bothered the ever-loving hell out of me. I learned to love her as the story went on, but it was not an easy process.
Coert was a typical KA alpha male thinking that he always had the upper hand. For the most part he did but the way he treated Cady after not seeing her for almost 20 years really ticked me off. Don’t get me wrong he had his reasons or what he thought were reasons, but I just couldn’t get over the fact that he was the way he was with her. He was wonderful with his friends, daughter and heck even his ex-wife, but he treated Cady like she was the dirt beneath his shoes and that just didn’t work for me.
“He was like . . . like . . . a magnet and I was metal and all the laws of nature said there was nothing for it. But it wasn’t like I was drawn to him. It was like I was connected to him and nothing could shake me loose unless all my molecules were jumbled up and I became a different me.”
All of that back and forth to say I really did enjoy the story, but it could have been shorter, and I would have been happy with it. The Will is still my favorite in the Magalene trilogy but I am becoming a hardcore KA reader so I am sure I will go back to this story at some point for a re-read. At that point my opinion might change but I do hope we will see these characters in her other series like we have with previous characters in other stories.
After losing someone who helped pick her up when she was completely destroyed, Cady Moreland decides to take his advice. Move back to Magdalene and take her second chance at happiness. The problem though is that the man she wants to explain things to is Coert Yeagar and he does not want to here a word she has to say, nor does he want to even be in her presence.
Coert has spent years hating Cady for what she did but he never took the time to understand why. When he finds out he realizes his blame in the situation was equally his and knows what he knew then, Cady is his soul mate. He doesn’t want to take it slow he wants to start afresh and build a life with her, but does she want the same thing?
Tear jerker for sure, this was heartbreaking at times and you are wanting to know what exactly happened. The story goes back and forth from past to present as it unfolds. Absolutely amazing read.
The Time in Between was exceptional! It was filled with so much emotion, healing, and love. Page after page I felt like my heart was going to explode. I loved Coert and Cady and the amazing journey they were. I was hooked from beginning to end.
Love You the Most
Beautiful second chance romance. It had heart and family and passion in spades. The flashbacks flowed naturally throughout the story and added to the emotional connection with the characters. There was a bit of suspense added and a dash of angst, but the HEA was well worth it.
Wonderful second chance romance.
Kristen Ashley weaves a story that touches the heart.
The Time in Between has everything that I have come to expect from Kristen Ashley! It is the perfect combination of a well written story, memorable characters and a beautiful storyline!
It is one of my favorite second chance romance stories because it was so easy to fall in love with Cady and Coert and just hope with all your heart for them to finally move on from the heartbreak of their past and find the future together that was always meant to be.
Love this series!!!! Read this twice and will definitely read again in a couple of years.
Kristen Ashley creates characters you wish were your friends.
There are a lot of things I could say about this book that have already been said about it (see reviews) or about Kristen Ashley’s convoluted writing, syntax and characters.
All I am going to say is of you want to read a Kristen Ashley romance where the lovers have a second chance after a bazillion years apart, save yourself and your time and read Millie and High’s love story in Walk Through Fire. Their misunderstanding is almost as ridiculous as this one, but their true love status is much more believable.
Audiobook edit: I wasn’t thrilled with Coert the first time I read this. Listening to it, I was still angry with him, but it was all sexy too! Geez!
Excellent conclusion to a freaking awesome series. Coert and Cady were brilliant and so freaking sweet. It was also super neat to have cameos from the Rock Chick series included. I mean, it’s tradition by now to at least have some crossover with the Rock Chicks! Overall, amazing and enthralling read!
I liked this book. I felt it wasn’t quite up to Ms. Ashley’s best, but still a gentle read that presented a good story.
So it took half the book to get Coert’s head out of his butt, and once he did the man had no patience, “I emitted a small cry when my arm was yanked and I went flying, slamming into Coert’s front. I looked up at him to see his chin in his neck looking down at me, holding the pie to the side. “Does this pie . . . need . . . refrigerating?” he growled.” What a great addition to this series, I’m bummed that this is the final book in the series, I loved it. I enjoyed this book.
I love everything Kristen Ashley writes. This was no exception.
The way she looked at him, Coert figured he could take her to the bank for a deposit and hold the place up after she did it and she’d not hate his guts. And he loved that. He loved the way Cady Webster looked at him.
When this story began, I thought I was going to fall straight in love with Coert. He seemed like one of those alphas that reminded me of the Rock Chick men, and I LOVED those guys But as the story went on, Coert didn’t grab my heart like I’d hoped. He did seem to have some genuinely good qualities and demonstrated those with Cady
“Gonna share somethin’ about the brotherhood that might get me a demerit since I’m breaking the code and blabbing one of our secrets, but guys have no fuckin’ clue what to do when women cry even a little bit. They’re completely lost when a woman loses it and bawls herself sick. So if I gotta buy a pizza and a six-pack so you can stay on the right path and no other shit will hit where I gotta consider carrying a handkerchief, please, God, let me.”
That one right there got me a little swoony. But then, later, Coert severely disappointed me. I don’t think he was a terrible person, but … there was just something missing. I know a lot of his circumstances kept him from being the complete man that he should have been, but even in all the goodness that was Coert, he kind of let me down.
Cady seemed to be a loyal, caring individual who would stand by anyone. She didn’t pick the best friends, and her family seemed to kind of detest her, but she was always loyal to them (even if they didn’t deserve it). I think that it speaks volumes for someone to keep this love alive, even after those receiving her love have broken all ties. Unfortunately, there comes a point where I hoped she would grow more of a backbone, but it just seemed as though she kept allowing people to walk all over her. That was something that truly bothered me. Heroines I’ve loved to read about are independent, sassy, and clever. I just felt that Cady was missing a little bit of this backbone.
The story itself was interesting. The huge gap in time that passed is something I always love to read about. People making mistakes, having to deal with the consequences of those mistakes, and then life bringing them back together. But in this story, I felt like something was lacking a little with this concept. Along with that, the action of this story seemed to be wrapped up rather … easily. It’s like all the pieces just fall into place without much of a fight.
This book was quite lengthy, as well. KA is always the queen of epilogues, but a lot of the length didn’t seem quite filling. Don’t get me wrong, I was totally moved by so many of the characters in this story, but a lot of the time it felt like I just kept reading and reading when it wasn’t necessary. This was the end to a series, so I understand the need to wrap up multiple events, but … My final analysis would be that this was a decent story, but definitely not one of my tops from this author. On the whole, I love the town of Magdalene, love the characters-even the extended characters, and the feel I get every time I “enter” the city limits.
Kristen Ashley does it again. Proves it time and time again. If you like Kristen Ashley than read this series.
Kind of hard to read at first. Couldn’t wait until the main characters actually got together. I Love all of Kristen Ashley’s books and especially the Magdalene Series.
As with all KA series, I hated to see this one end!
I loved it! One of my favorite authors has done it again!!
Love this author. Writes the way real people would speak and act.
Love Kristen Ashley, great story teller. Great book.
