Interview with the Author
Q: So, what makes the Hiram Kane series special?
A: It’s a mix of unique factors, really. When I started writing the Kane series I wanted to create books that echoed the kind of books I love to read, so think of action-adventure thrillers a la Clive Cussler & Russell Blake. I set my stories all over the world, which also mirrors my own life as a travel addict and thrill seeker, and Kane, like me, has a degree in archaeology. Interesting fact; I’ve visited all the featured locations in the series myself. Unlike Hiram, however, I am not a master of martial arts.
What readers will find are lightning-paced, internationally staged page-turners with real-world events and spectacularly exotic settings. Oh, and a cast of nefarious villains and a genuine action hero.
I like to keep my readers guessing, and there’s never a dull moment when Hiram Kane’s involved.
Q: Are the books standalone stories?
A: They can be, yes, and can definitely be read independently from each other. But a few of the main characters feature throughout and the story threads all tie nicely together by the last installment. Well, maybe there’ll be more ☺
If readers do want to read in the optimal order, I suggest the following sequence:
The Tiger Temple
The Samurai Code
The Condor Prophecy
The Shadow of Kailash }
Of Curses and Kings } Coming soon …
The Feathered serpent }
Q: Why should readers give the Kane books a chance?
A: Because Kane’s adventures are page-turning action fests that pull no punches and would definitely appeal to readers who enjoy tales of real-world issues mixed with despicable bad guys and pulse-pounding action sequences. Oh yeah, the awesome power of Mother Nature plays a significant role in all the books.
I loved writing them … I’m confident readers will love reading them!more
The Tiger Temple by Steven Moore narrated by Kenneth Bryant is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I enjoyed this adventure book that was nail biting at times and unpredictable. It is a short book but full of and if a full length novel!
The narration was fair!
The author has drawn us into the setting of Bali, the temples, the culture and the way of the people. A tranquility he has never seen or felt, except here. Three men on motorbikes disturbed the gathering, and grab a blond hair, six year old girl. It was their spiritual leaders only child that has been taken. As Hiram looks at this leader, the father shown through, as though broken. A sudden change, and he was once again, a man delivering a message. They were shock when he said it began in the midst and for that person to speak up. The adventure, the task to get her back gives us an adventure, well done.
Received as a review copy, this is an honest review. Hiram Kane’s vacation in Bali becomes a heart pounding race across the country to save a friend’s niece whom has been taken by criminals Hiram’s friend betrayed. Set against the exotic beauty of Bali and filled with secrets and dangerous vices, Tiger Temple will have you on the edge of your seat swept up in an excellent adventure. Highly recommended.
The Tiger Temple – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Steven Moore’s novella The Tiger Temple, gives an important message about the evils of gambling, drug and other forms of addiction, along with the relevance of how they can destroy families, relationships and lives.
As entertainment the story of Hiram Kane’s interaction with the family of Ayu, a young Asian girl who’s been kidnapped as a result of her uncle’s weaknesses, is a powerful narrative with fully-developed engaging characters pulling together, to overcome the odds and fight against the evils of modern society.
I liked the contrast between the MC Hiram Kane as an easy-going man, who’s tough when necessary, who’s befriended Ayu’s family. Also the light and shade of the two uncles Ketut and Putu’s opposite characters – one strong and the other weak and foolish – that really gave pizzazz to the story.
The introduction of a tiger as an innocent means of destruction, being used as a bodyguard by the main antagonist, ‘The Rooster’ and ultimately becoming the means of his death, was a satisfying way of correcting the natural balance between good and evil caused by Man’s negative effect on Nature.
I found the motorbike chase across the city and beyond very exciting as it increased the tension and already fast pace of the story, as did the drowning risk to Ayu (who can’t swim) when the volcano tremors begin and the final stand-off between Jago, (aka The Rooster’) and the MCs in the subterranean chambers beneath the eponymous Tiger Temple.
I would strongly recommend this story to fans of all-action adventures in exotic locations (Bali), with a strong MC (Hiram Kane), leading the fight against the villainous drug lord Jago, whose nefarious actions cause the breakdown of families and individuals’ lives. Why not buy a copy today and decide for yourself – you’ll love it!

Definitely a page turner with more to come in the Hiram Kane Adventure Series.
Start the adventure now, it’s so worth it.
Wow! Action packed adventure that I didn’t want to put down. Well thought out story, great character development. Like watching a movie only in book form. Will be reading more of this author’s work.
The Tiger Temple by Steven Moore is the first a series!. The story was well written, moved along nicely and I really enjoyed the adventure!
Evil is everywhere. Even in the beautiful, island of Bali, evil can destroy families and communities. Whether it’s drug running, antiquities smuggling, or even kidnapping, the result is loss of the peace and serenity of the villagers. When armed thugs shoot up the beautiful temple during an annual religious ceremony and take the young daughter of the village leader, Hiram Kane and the Balinese brothers he was visiting begin a long search to rescue the young girl before all trace of her is gone.
This is an amazing story, with action, intrigue, life and loss. I love Mr. Moore’s attention to the smallest detail in his descriptive story telling, making you feel the beauty of the temples, the lively markets and the colorful people of the village. He makes you feel as if you have actually been to Bali and experienced everything first hand.
Awesome!
Ambiance, excitement, and adventure…
This book has so much going for it. The author is obviously well-travelled, and his descriptions of Bali are so evocative that you feel as if you are right there as a peripheral character tagging along and enjoying the sights as you go on this fast-paced, action-packed adventure. The descriptions of exotic locales are not the only deftly developed feature of this book, however. The characters are also carefully cultivated and thoroughly intriguing. There is a great story, plenty of action, and a satisfying resolution (I love that the tiger got her revenge). It is not a long story so you can probably read it/listen to it in one sitting if you choose. The narrator did a great job with developing distinct accents and intonations for the various characters and with reading at a pace complementary to the situation at hand. Inherent to adventure stories, there is some violence, but it is not graphic. There are instances of language that may be considered objectionable by some, but it was not excessive and, in this reviewer’s opinion, it was understandable given the situations in which the characters found themselves. Overall, I found this to be a beautifully written compelling adventure that makes me look forward to future installments in this series.
This was a very good action thriller (which is not my normal genre). The descriptions of Bali, the culture, the people and the land was very well done. It gave me a good picture of a place I will never see with my own eyes.
The plot is good. The evil brought into the town was devastating for the townsfolk and the family affected. Hiram Kane helps his two friends with the situation and tense action ensues.
Once more a brilliant thriller from the first page,Bali, a paradise beautifully described as always Steven recreates in his books, the culture, the spiritual philosophy and background of the characters are exquisite!
This is the first of a new series that features Hiram Kane, an adventurer by heart. This is a short story to introduce the character ..and the author’s writing style.
Hiram is a man’s man … he’s strong, he’s brave, he’s fearless and he is always on the side of justice.
One of his friends gets him involved with a gangster that leads to the kidnapping of the gangster’s young daughter.
Hiram jumps in the fray and finds himself in a race across Bali to locate and rescue the girl before the kidnapper takes out his anger and vengeance on the girl. It doesn’t help that the Mt. Agung volcano is ready to tear the island apart … with Hiram right in its path.
This is a well-written action-adventure, reminiscent of Indiana Jones. I loved the description of Bali … the good, the bad and the ugly. The characters are deftly defined and I am looking forward to reading the further adventures of Hiram Kane.
Many thanks to the author who provided the digital copy of this action-adventure thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
very entertaining
Hiram and friends engage in what is almost a “forelorn hope” effort. Read the book for the details. Exciting story with non-stop action, good guys with their mighty steeds, bad guys, damsel in distress. I did not put this book down until I finished it. Another great read from Steven.
A good, fast moving afternoon read set in Bali. Lots of action.
