From the pen of the legendary historical novelist Jean Plaidy comes the story of Princess Margaret Tudor, whose life of tragedy, bloodshed, and scandal would rival even that of her younger brother, Henry VIII.Princess Margaret Tudor is the greatest prize when her father, Henry VII, negotiates the Treaty of Perpetual Peace with neighboring Scotland. The betrothal is meant to end decades of bloody … of bloody border wars, but it becomes a love match: To Margaret’s surprise, she finds joy in her marriage to the dashing James IV of Scotland, a man sixteen years her senior. But the marriage, and the peace it brings to both nations, does not last. When King James is struck down by the armies of Henry VIII, Margaret—Princess of England, but Queen of Scotland—finds herself torn between loyalty to the land and family of her birth and to that of her baby son, now King of the Scots. She decides to remain in Scotland and carve out her own destiny, surviving a scandalous second marriage and battling with both her son and her brother to the very end. Like all the Tudors, Margaret’s life would be one of turmoil and controversy, but through her descendants, England and Scotland would unite as one nation, under one rule, and find peace.

A quick short read. I liked the characters and the receipes are a bone
I’m very much into historical stories, especially Britain history. I enjoyed this book because it was very realistic about people you seldom see mentioned in any history tomes.
Read many in her series of historical fiction years ago. Wonderful, absorbing and informative. Not truly romance novels, yea.
Great historical novel of the familiar relationship of King Henry VIII and his sister Queen Mary of Scots. Her realistic portrayal of her feminine desires and decisions give thought to the reality of the time. Great read.
The life of Henry VIII ‘s sister Margret who was married to King James of Scotland, her tragic marriages and conflicts with her powerful brother are told in an interesting narrative.
I feel like this could have been a lot better of a story but it just came off as juvenile in both the writing style and the character portrayal. Margaret Tudor’s character just isn’t that likable. She is always worried about materialistic things and is constantly jealous and ruled by her emotions. She appears to be lacking in sense as well and is …
The book repeats a lot, but it is an easy read.
Well researched historical fiction. Excellent writing. A joy to read in this day and age.
Good read historical novel. Really liked. It.
Margaret, sister of Henry the 8th had such a messed up life….die to circstancrs beyond her control and circumstances she could have better controlled…..with men in her life.
I have been a fan of Jean for a long time. This was another great read.
I have enjoyed numerous books by this author- especially this one and her Queen Victoria book. Easy to read and always compelling
This book was written in 1973 by one of the top historical fiction writers. I don’t think any of the current writers have surpassed Jean Plaidy in writing a good story. Margaret Tudor, elder sister of Henry VIII hasn’t played a part in the recent interest in the Tudors because she went to Scotland as the bride of James IV at the age of 13, but …
I enjoyed this book very much. I enjoy Jean Plaidy’s books as she does a lot of research and even though they are fiction, they are very descriptive, entertaining and easy to read.
