The Third Eye by Margaret Watson
The Four #1
Knowing this author writes wonderful books and handles romantic suspense in a way that I enjoy had me eager to take on her new series that includes the paranormal. I was unsure if there would be shape shifters or magic or something else entirely but knowing I like her work eagerly settled in to find out what she had created.
AND…
WOW ~ No shapes shifters (yet) but oh my what an action-packed thrilling read this proved to be! There is power and magic and definitely evil to overcome.
The main male and female lead characters in this book were people I liked and wouldn’t mind getting to know better. Rowan is a physician who believes in science so when she suddenly finds herself experiencing new abilities she is a bit shaken. Jack is perhaps more open to “different” as he has lived with some unusual abilities most of his life. His time in the military will also play a part in this series as will some of the men he knew while a Navy SEAL. I am not sure what I expected going into this book but can honestly say that I am eager to find out what will happen next!
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I like to read the next book in this series? Definitely!
A bit more about the basis of the story quoted from the front of the book:
The energy was changing…
Power was shifting…
Four came from the corners of the country.
Four came from its heart.
Separately, each of the eight had power. Magic. Sorcery. Talents.
Their power would be tested.
They would risk everything.
They would face danger and death.
All would be needed to defeat Evil.
The eight would become The Four.
The Four would create the square, with a heart at its center.
The square would provide stability. A foundation for peace. Harmony. Order.
Once formed, it would protect the earth from Evil.
Each time the square added another corner, the power of The Four would grow. Intensify.
But Evil was growing, as well.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Spectacular Paranormal Suspense .
I volunteered to read an advanced readers copy through Netgallery of The Third Eye . This story starts out intriguing and suspenseful and just gets more so as I go further into the story . Rowan comes from a long line of so called witches , Rowan being a cardiac surgeon she is very skeptical about mystical things . Rowan is forced to leave the medical practice after money went missing and they accused her . Her world soon gets turned upside down . She starts having visions . The vision has a blue eyed intense man she hasn’t met ,
Detective Jack Murphy . Soon both are together try to stay out of harm’s way . Jack has secrets as well as Rowan . Danger is everywhere . They and their friends will have to fight the danger and dangerous criminals . The story is full of twists and turns , intense , pulse pounding action and all consuming intrigue . I couldn’t put it down . I highly recommend taking the time to read this story and enjoy .
The first book in The Four series and I want to read the next book. A well written story that kept me turning pages. I enjoyed reading Dr. Rowan Burke and Detective Jack Murphy’s story. I wonder what is going to happen in the next book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An interesting paranormal.
A girl with a gift that may not be so great is what Rowan is facing. Not only that, but there is a whole subculture of people like Rowan. I liked Jack he really was the rock Rowan needed. Oh, let me not forget the sex scenes were rather steamy. Plus you have violence and danger all with-in this interesting paranormal. This is an adult book but I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is the start to a new series and I was drawn in and can’t wait for more I have read this authors work before but never paranormal I believe this is a first for her and I have to say she hit the nail on the head
Rowen suddenly comes into powers the best way to describe them is second sight luckily they kicked in early enough to save her and other people but they made her an enemy that will stop at nothing to end her and her powers. The only person who can really help her is Jack a detective and former Seal and you guessed it he has powers as well With the help of friends they will have to work to overcome the enemy bent of creating super soldiers. The suspense and drama is the making of this story and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good story with a bit of steam
Rowan Burke is an accomplished, intelligent cardiologist who believes in science, not the supernatural, until everything changes in an instant. Detective Jack Murphy also possesses some unusual gifts and is more than willing to believe when he and Rowan are thrown together in circumstances involving hostages, murder, and a sinister far reaching conspiracy. From the moment they meet, Rowan and Jack share a bond unlike anything they have experienced before. They, along with fellow members of the paranormal community, unite to try and bring down a powerful enemy who will stop at nothing to create an army of super soldiers.
The Third Eye is the first book of this exiting new series by Margaret Watson. It’s romantic suspense with the added element of the paranormal and it’s excellently done. Rowan and Jack have this incredible connection. The writing is impeccable, as always and is a great mix of action, suspense and romance. I loved it.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
I have been reading a ton of PNR lately. I’m not complaining about it – actually, the opposite. I am loving reading them. When I read the blurb for The Third Eye, I was intrigued by it. I am glad that I read it. This was a fantastic PNR!!
The Third Eye starts with Rowan waking up to her grandmother screaming in her bedroom. After waking her up, Rowan is told that she has a gift. She can see in the future and past. She is hit with the news that there is a whole subculture of people like Rowan. Rowan didn’t believe it until she started seeing visions. While she was picking up her possessions from a job that she was fired from. These visions helped save people’s lives, along with her own. But, she makes a powerful enemy. Someone who wants her dead. Can Rowan stay one step ahead of this group? Or will she become a victim?
The main plotline of The Third Eye is Rowan and her dance with her dangerous enemy. I thought that it was well written. The author did a great job of keeping who the bad guy was until the end.
There were a few secondary plotlines. I liked how they added to the plotline. Sometimes the secondary plotlines will take over the main one. Not in this case. These were kept in the background until the author decided to merge them with the main plotline.
I loved Rowan in The Third Eye. For someone who had a whole lot of crap dumped on her, she dealt with it pretty well. I mean, if I went through what she did, I would have been a basket case. I liked how she embraced her gifts. I also liked how she was willing to stand her ground and fight.
I liked Jack. His belief in Rowan was rock solid. I wasn’t surprised that he had powers. I was surprised at what they were. Sometimes, I wish I had those powers. While I understood his anger at Mason, I thought he went a little overboard. He also irritated me at the end of the book.
The secondary characters were awesome. I loved Aislinn, Flynn (I want to know her backstory!!), Gianna, Mason, and Cal. I cannot wait to see who the author pairs together. But, I have a feeling that I know. There were a couple of scenes in the book that made me go “Hmmmm.”
I thought that The Third Eye was a great fit in the paranormal genre. Rowan’s introduction to her second sight was interesting as was her bonding with her Moonstone. I am interested in seeing where this series goes.
I also thought that The Third Eye was a great fit in the romance genre. I will warn everyone; this isn’t a “get to know you” romance. It is an Instalove romance. I am not a fan of Instalove, but but certain storylines need it. And The Third Eye’s is one. Jack and Rowan couldn’t have had a romance if it was any other way.
The sex scenes were steamy!! If it could have, my Kindle’s screen would have steamed up. Jack and Rowan also had significant sexual tension. I saw it right from the beginning. The author did a fantastic job of keeping it going, even after they had sex.
The end of The Third Eye was great. I liked how the author resolved Rowan’s issues. I did a fist pump and said “Yes” when that happened. But even more, I loved the last chapters. All I have to say is that Rowan was right and Jack was a fool. The epilogue has me interested. Because of who and what was introduced. It went well with what Rowan was experiencing. I am wondering how it is going to figure into the next book.
Rowan is a cardiologist who was fired from her practice four days ago. She was accused of stealing money from the charity she had set up, but she was framed. But by whom? When she goes back to pick up her things, she has a vision. Her first. That is when she sees Jack for the first time, flat on the ground with gunmen around him and a lot of people on the floor. Visions. Blood. Shootings. Baddies. Tattoos. And it is good to see the Donovan family in this book. What an amazing book this but nothing unusual for this author. Very highly recommended.
I don’t even know where to start – what a great beginning to a new series by Ms. Watson. Rowan Burke is a heart surgeon and has been fired from her partnership on false charges. While visiting the building to clean out her office, she interrupts men who are holding people hostage. When she is able to get away, her eyes are drawn to one of the hostages, Detective Jack Murphy. Jack is a former SEAL and Rowan’s interruption gives him a chance to take control of the situation. As the investigation continues, Rowan and Jack realize that there is more going on than a simple attack at the building. They find themselves extremely attracted to each other as death, danger and continued threats affect their lives. Rowan will learn something amazing about herself and her family, while Jack begins to realize that he and his former SEAL teammates are unique in ways that will put their lives in danger. Will they be able to work together to solve the evil that may threaten the world? Once I started the book, I did not want to put it down. The story is riveting and the characters, although they may have some unnatural characteristics, make for a totally absorbing read. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Not at all what I expected. When I first started reading, I was not sure how to feel about this story. But before I finished the 2nd chapter I was hooked! Dr. Rowan Burke’s world has been shaken, but it’s about to be turned upside down. Detective Jack Murphy is on a course which will bring him violently into Rowan’s life. Their connection is immediate and grows stronger as it becomes obvious that they are fated to fight together the evil that is coming.
This is an exciting, spellbinding (no pun intended) love story. It’s an emotional roller coaster filled with intrigue and fascinating drama that makes for an engaging and gripping storyline, and very appealing and passionate characters. The tale is one that will pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. And the ending is so intriguing it will leave you anxiously awaiting the next in the series. I highly recommend you not miss this captivating and enthralling start to a new paranormal romantic suspense series!
