Jenna, though not quite eighteen, has experienced more hardships than many do in their entire lives. There are many parts of her life that she hides from the people she cares about. Some parts because she wants to and others because she has to. When she and Hunter finally get together after being friends, she is the happiest she has ever been. Until her biggest secret comes out and her whole life … life starts to unravel. Hunter doesn’t let many people into his life. He trusts even less. Jenna has been part of his inner circle for a while and now their relationship has turned into more. When someone from their past comes after them, Hunter does everything to keep Jenna safe. Even if that means he’ll spend the rest of his life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

The Things We Hide is the second book in this series. I did not read the first one, and I had no problem following along. I do want to go back and read the first because I feel like I missed details, even though a summary of what happened is provided in this story. Jenna and Hunter have been friends for a while now, but feelings are changing on both parts. Jenna is hiding something and Hunter is trying to keep out of jail. This was a great story and once I started I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one sitting.
I have to say i was on the edge of my sat more times than not during this book. I loved every single second of it and can not wait for more. I love boys from the wrong side of the street and Hunter and Jaxon are impossible not to fall for. Jenna is an amazing character too and this book will have you devouring it
The first story must have contained the death/murder of Sarah and Colt’s involvement. So now I’m interested in the next book that deals with Colt. This story is mainly about Jenna and Hunter but it does involves others from the first book which is Jaxon, Eliza, Colt and Josephine. Jenna is months away from turning 18 and she cannot wait as she will be able to be on her own and leave the group home where is assigned to. Hunter is a little older than Jenna but has liked her from the moment he met her. He picks her up every weekend to drive her 3 hours to be with Eliza and Jaxon and then another 3 to take her back. She does not want to become her mother, so she tries her best to be independent. She has strong feelings for Hunter but starts to think it is a weakness like her mother use to have when she liked someone. The good thing is that Hunter is persistent and wants to break down her walls. A lie is told and she has to make the decision to trust Hunter or not. There is a lot going on the book from kidnapping, betrayal, murder, trying to keep alive, but with all the bad there is a lot of good in it too. There is love, understanding, and acceptance for who one is. I love what Cassandra did with this book even if it ends on a cliffhanger – again I cannot wait to read about Colt.

This is my first book in this series. While this is technically standalone, here are quite a few holes from the first book. There are bits and pieces filled in so we get a hint of what occurred. His book was action packed and completely different from anything I’ve read yet. I really enjoyed it. Strong characters and a solid storyline. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I was sucked in from the beginning. I love the connections between all the characters. The story is a continuation from the first book but with a different couple now but you get to see everyone again and how they all rally together. Hunter is so protective of Jenna that I was blushing and in love with him. He will do anything and they were explosive together.

Secrets, lies and deceit brings the drama to the edge of your seat. Hunter and Jenna will forge thru the flames to be together. A great story with characters that burrow under your skin. Loving this series and looking forward to reading more from this author.

Jenna and Hunter met through Jax and Eliza from book o e of this series. Although they have been friends for a while now Jenna has always stopped it from going further. Hunter understands Jenna’s actions because he has lived a similar life. Being a foster kid is hard and it makes trusting other people almost impossible. However when someone from the past begins to make trouble for them all they have is each other to rely on. Pretty soon feelings are brought to light as well as some secrets and they need to decide if they fight through or part ways. This book was good, it was fast paced and high energy. It did at times feel a little sporadic but all in all a good read.

This book is number 2 in the Pushed Aside Series. Jenna and Hunter are two opposite people when it comes to life. Jenna and Hunter are best friends but that turns into something more. Hunter doesn’t trust people that easily and Jenna has her own secrets that will threaten her relationship with Hunter and I wouldn’t be fair if I told you what her secret is it would ruin the book for you. Other than the people that are in the group home that care about Jenna are Jaxon/Eliza and Hunter. This book will take you on a journey of secrets, trust issues, love and second chances. Please read this book before reading The Lies We Tell.

I absolutely love this book. The drama, the suspense, the story of 2 broken young people coming together and finding love.
I am enjoying reading this series even though I have read them out of context. Highly recommend reading in order. Twists & turns along the way. I know book 3 is amazing cause that’s the one I read.

This is a very enjoyable read. Hunter and Jenna’s story is intense and emotional. Be prepared for lots of twists that will send your heart on quite the roller coaster ride as the story unfolds. A great read that will quickly pull you in and keep you fully engaged until you turn the very last page.
This is the second installment of the Pushed Aside series from Cassandra Hallman that I have read. It is also the second book I have read from the author. I thought it was not as riveting as the first one, The Quiet Game, at least in the first few chapters. It was a pleasant surprise to be proven wrong. I love the plot twist. It is also a CLEAN read–oh, there are a few cuss words here and there. I like how the author successfully told the a romantic story without too much sex details.

An amazing dark romantic suspense. This well written action packed storyline had me engaged from beginning to end with lies, betrayal, suspense, mystery, heartache, surprising twists and turns, secrets, emotional pain, and unconditional love. It really brought a different perspective into the complicated emotional ride of 3 friends. The characters are well developed and relatable on their way to a fantastic romantic ending as we continue on with the Pushed Aside series. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
