A thief turned reluctant protector… A countess who resents but can’t resist him… to put his plans on hold to help protect a wealthy countess. It’s a distraction Geoffrey resents, even more so when he meets Lady Sara. The gorgeous, complicated and alluring lady is everything he’d want in a woman—and everything he can’t have.
THE COUNTESS
With her betrothed coming to claim her hand in marriage and a distant cousin intent on usurping her earldom, Lady Sara Caiser feels beset by controlling, unwanted men. As if that weren’t enough, her father’s deathbed request was for two lawless border reivers to serve as her protectors. Despite her misgivings, an undeniable attraction pulls her into Sir Geoffrey’s arms. The man she thought nothing more than a thief is more dangerous than she believed, for he’s noble, caring and sinfully attractive. As the threats against her continue to mount, Sara must decide what’s more important—her duty or her heart.

I tumbled into this one and lost myself for hours. A wonderful start to a fabulous series!
I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next in the series!
To me this is a love story and only a love story. The background of a siege was a very low key element and might as well have been excluded. The main focus is the the angst of two people loving each other and seeing no way of being together, since the Lady is promised to a powerful Lord. Very sensual and passionate for the hero and heroine.
Geoffery and his uncle Hugh have temporarily given up their quest to win back their family’s manor. Instead they are going to protect Lady Sara, whose father recently died, and who is under a threat from a distant cousin and awaiting the arrival of her betrothed so her marriage will secure her home and title. Since this is a romance, the inevitable occurs: Geoffery and Sara fall into lust and then love. All sorts of dilemmas face them, including Geoffrey’s need to battle for his home and the difficulty of breaking a betrothal. The first conflict, getting rod of cousin Randolph who wants the title and estate, goes fairly smoothly. The romance between Geoffrey and Sara is rockier in its progress. At just more than the half way point of the book, the entire focus of the book moves to seduction, thwarted desire, and angst. The Thief’s Countess is a pleasant enough read, especially if you enjoy romance novels.
Didn’t finish this book. Didn’t like it
A true page turner. You get caught up in the characters only to have something unexpected happen.
Captivating page-turner!!! I loved the characters, as each page came alive, I felt myself walking through each chapter!!!!
Well done!!!!
A good enjoyable romance.
This got just a bit repetitive toward the middle/end but all in all it was still a great story and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. This was my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last. Truly delightful hero and very well written.
Sir Geoffrey Waryn was a thief by trade. He was reduced to this to maintain his brother and sisters. His uncle, Sir Hugh Waryn had been with him since their ancestral home had been overrun several years ago. Hugh receives a missive from an old friend which changes the course of both of their lives. Lady Sara Caiser was a woman alone in a sea of intrigue and deceit. When the two thieving knights come to her, saying they are there to protect her until her betrothed can arrive from the Levant. Through many Sara’s pride almost becomes her downfall. Can her love of Geoffrey overcome all the challenges they face? This is a wonderful book. I love Ms. Mecca’s work and will be reading more books by her.
This was the first book in “The Border Series” by new author Cecelia Mecca. But this will not be the last! It drew me in right from the start. Sir Geoffrey and his uncle come to aid Lady Sara from siege in her home that is left without a protector since her father died. There is an attraction between Geoffrey who is naught but a Riever “thief” and Sara. The story is very well written and I could not wait to find out what happened next!! Cannot wait until the second full book in this series comes out!
Loved plot, characters, twists of “fate”.
A good read, but the heroine seemed unable to make a decision about the man she loved. In the end, she figured out a way.
Standard romance fodder. Engaged enough to finish it.
