I heartily recommend The Testament. It’s a wonderfully bizarre tale and vintage John Grisham. Virginia billionaire Troy Phalen rewrites his will on his deathbed and cuts out his children, ex-wives and everyone else listed and leaves his fortune to someone no one has ever heard of. Rachel Lane, a missionary living in the jungle of Brazil. Nate O’Riley, a disgraced, former corporate attorney is tasked with the job of finding her. Only one problem, Rachel Lane doesn’t want to be found and when she finally is found she reveals a secret of her own.
My first book by John Grisham. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it led me down the path to read all of his books.
I’ve read six or seven of Grisham’s books and this is the best so far. I loved the pace which barely slackened but left enough time for reflection before moving on at every important phase. Many novels peter out towards the end but this one is a testament to the authors ability to keep you hanging until the end. Great stuff John. Now I’ll start another one!
Classic Grisham
Teriffic!
This is one of my favorite all-time books. It is very unlike Grisham’s other books – not legal heavy. It leaves you considering what life is all about.
One of my favorite books of all time!
Typical of Grisham
I believe it is the Best novel written by John Grisham and that is saying a lot. Page turner from start to finish. Top five of all novels I have ever read!
I have read all of Grisham’s books and found many of them to be somewhat similiar and predictable. This one was not. I found it the perfect book to take on a trip that included a lot of down time for reading: It was easy to read, interesting and an attention holder.

A suspenseful story about greed, family, and temptations. I enjoy the research Grisham does that gives the reader a you-are-there experience.
This book starts out so terrific, you cannot put it down. There are so many twists and characters involved, you find yourself reading faster and faster trying to find out what will happen next. I loved this book. John Grisham books hold my attention and I look forward to the next one.
Best book I have read in a long, long time.
Gripping and entertaining a must-read for Grisham fans.
Excellent John Grisham book
I’ve read a lot of John Grisham’s books, but I have to say this was my favorite. It is action packed and kept me turning the pages.
I went through a writing/reading malaise for several years, but when I started writing again I couldn’t stop. I had ‘The Testament’ on my bookshelf and when I was ready to read, it was the first one I selected. I love reading John Grisham novels. I feel like my writing style is similar to his; perhaps because we are both attorneys. I would recommend any of his books for all the reasons I selected above. They are non-stop action and informative. His characters are easily identifiable and fun to root for success. I loved the ending to this novel. It was unexpected and left me thinking about what would happen next. Basically, I was continuing the story in my own imagination. Always a good sign of a great book.
Great story line, begins a little twisted.
John Girsham at his best, love all his books, this one is great, the description of the characters, de story, the ambientation. A must read
