I have to be honest and say –I don’t remember now, what the story was about —I am so sorry I have forgotten —but I know I must have liked it, or I would have something bad to say about it, but I can only say, I must have liked it. I have liked almost each and every book I have got from book bub -I have enjoyed them so much thank you –Dolores Youngblood
A wonderful series. I had to get the next book and anticipate reading more of this world.
This was an entertaining read and enjoyable, which is not often the case with a book on free promotion! A mix of Scottish historical setting with a crime investigation, it also has a likeable main character. I was cruising right along enjoying it up to the end where the author too quickly tied everything together in a very abrupt manner. So…good story….less than satisfying ending. Will try another by this author to see if this is a usual pattern.
The plot was convoluted and really didn’t make sense. I was sorry I wasted my time reading it.
I enjoyed this book for its taste of medieval Scotland. Good mystery, and good beginning to a mystery series. There were no stunning plot twists, just a good, solid mystery.
Interesting view of scotland during the middle ages. A very enjoyable read.
Very different .But did like it but not all real
It was ok not really that exciting
It was a very good read.
The book had potential and the main character was likeable but the plot was rather silly and the hunt for a gold cross in Scotland was beyond belief. I was very much disappointed.
I enjoy reading about early Scotland.
It was Ok.
This is the second book in a series. Having liked the first one I grabbed this one after completing book one. Pretty much a continuation of the first, but not quite as compelling.
I enjoyed this mystery. The author had a great sense of the history of the times and how men handle themselves. The hero was amazingly resilient. A fun read.
I was not impressed with the storyline. As others have stated, I couldn’t really sympathize with the main character. It seemed like there was no brains on his part to put the puzzle together. Instead he just fell into things, literally. It was interesting enough that I finished it, but I’m not sure that I would have if it had been a longer read.
Hard to read and never finished the book
Just A Good Mystery
The fact that this story is set in medieval Perth, Scotland does not detract from the fact that it is just a good mystery. Sir Law, a knight without a realm of his own, plays detective when bodies begin to fall. A Templar’s gold, bejeweled cross is the subject of searches by several people of questionable morals. Originally hidden, then discovered, then hidden again (in its original hiding place) the Templar’s cross is sought by an English trader who hires people to find the cross (claiming that it is rightfully his), who then hire Sir Law who suddenly becomes the main suspect in two murders. Not only does he clear his name (the anticipated outcome in such mysteries) but he solves the murders … yet the cross goes missing again. The mystery continues…..
good read, great details about medieval Scotland
Creative premise -to set a murder mystery in old Scotland
An entertaining romp through Scottish and English & French history,, knitted around a minor murder mystery. The murders are not solved, leaving the reader wondering.
