I have read a lot on the Templars, and although this book did contain accurate facts, the rest of the plot was very non-specific in details. What was the origins of the Gold Cross? Is it even in the original loot the Templars were suppose to find in the Holy Land? I suspect much of it was the writer’s imagination. If not, they should have given some biographical information at the end. A disappointing, but quick, read.
Depressing
Allusions to historical people and places were interesting but the characters and plot were light weight.
I liked enjoyed reading about the era in which this book is based. It is historical. Good story line.
Not very suspensful
Interesting book, but it jumped around a lot. In the end the person who found a Templar relic didn’t keep it very long.
Murder mystery set in the past.
At first it was a little hard to read and keep the characters straight but was well worth the effort to continue reading. I had a hard time putting it down.
Quite a good story . I like the protagonist–he is very much a “real” man.
I learned more about knights.
great concept but got a little monotonous.
Enjoyable mystery read.
Slow read
This was very suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat reading to get to the conclusion. Well written and interesting!
This is a quick fun read. Just picture yourself living back then and living under the whim of those in control. Appreciate the change in times.
Good read that pulls you back to the old world. Solving a murder mystery the old fashioned way with a Templars twist.
This book was really bad. It used a lot of old Scottish vocabulary then put a glossary at the end. Who needed then. Many parts of the plot were never developed or explained. The protagonist was beaten and stabbed by 4 bully boys on of which he supposedly killed but it never explained who hired them and what of the one killed? Oh even though he was stabbed in the back it never slowed him down for more than a day. The solution to the murders were explained in a paragraph at the end. Whole book was farcical and a waste of time.
Enhanced what I knew about this interesting historical story.
I love finding detective novels set in historical settings where you don’t expect to see it. Great read. Very interesting lead character.
Finally, a book that doesn’t twist the Templars.
