A romantic, suspenseful thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Colter. Another fast paced thriller. It kept me hooked the whole time. Such a sweet little girl entangled in so much from multiple angles. A wonderful read in this series. I cannot wait for more. There is some steam.

Coulter is a new favorite author— you know the kind of story you’re sorry when it’s over? This mystery is one of those.
6 stars. Awesome book
Love this series and that is why this is a revisit for me this time in audio form. Judge Ramsey Hunt is on vacation in the Colorado Rockies after an event in his courtroom that left him needing to get away for a while. He comes across an abused little girl who is obviously traumatized but he takes her in but when her mother shows up sporting a gun right after they had been shot at and Ramsey hurt. Good thing Emma comes out of her stupor and talks to call off her mother or she may have shot Ramsey. The three of them set off across country while being chased and hunted. So many twists and turns and thrills make up this story. Great narrator!
My subjective review: I listened to the audiobook version of The Target and I thought the narrator was terrible. The male voices were not acceptable for me, and I wasn’t fond of her inflection and other issues, so that may be a part of why the story was just okay for me.
I enjoyed the Little girl who was a child prodigy and her relationship with the wonderful Ramsey character; however, I didn’t care for the cliché mob boss father and the mob war between he and another mob boss. There was also some repetition that I felt was unnecessary.
I liked the Savich and Sherwood characters, but they seemed almost superfluous in the story other than the comic relief. Too bad there wasn’t more of them. Savich had a computer named Max and a big deal was made of it’s abilities, but it was pointless so I didn’t understand the wasted storyline.
Catherine Coulter’s FBI series never disappoint. The stories are full of mystery. The reoccurring married agents give the books a feeling of familiarity. I own every book and have reread them many times. The stories are that good. The Target is a page turner that the reader cap will not be able to put down.
