A Wall Street Journal bestseller.
In bestselling author T L Swan’s second hot installment to the Miles High Club series, he’s sexy, rich, and her mortal enemy. Hate never felt so good.
I first met Tristan Miles at a meeting where he was trying to take over my late husband’s company.
He was powerful, arrogant, and infuriatingly gorgeous, and I hated him with every cell in my body. In the shock … him with every cell in my body. In the shock of the century, he called me three days later and asked me on a date.
I would rather die than date a man like him—though I do have to admit it was good for the ego. Turning him down was the highlight of my year.
Six months later, he was the guest speaker at a conference I attended in France.
Still arrogant and infuriating—but this time, surprisingly charming and witty.
When he looked at me, I got butterflies.
But I can’t go there.
He’s just a player in a hot suit, and I’m just a widow with three unruly sons.
I just need this conference to be over.
Because everybody knows that Tristan Miles always gets what he wants…and what he wants is me.

Widowed mother of three boys, Claire Anderson, is trying to juggle a home and a business. She’s not doing it very successfully. Tristan Miles swoops in to make her an offer on the business she can’t refuse and yet she does. He’s completely captivated by this woman and makes it his mission to win her over. Their relationship is anything but smooth sailing but Tris knows he’s all in even if Claire fights him every step of the way. Winning over her three sons isn’t as challenging.
I first met Tristan Miles at a meeting where he was trying to take over my late husband’s company.
He was powerful, arrogant, and infuriatingly gorgeous, and I hated him with every cell in my body. This book was absolutely wonderful, the story line was addictive and full of drama, hot sex and is the funniest book I have read this year, I was laughing out loud, sometimes even choking at the comedy between Tristan, Clare and her three boys. The chemistry between the characters was so beautiful and at times complicated but it so worked. This book was an amazing read I loved every minute of it and I really wished that it didn’t end.
The author draws you right into the story of this widow who is trying to save her late husband’s business for her 3 sons. Her life becomes complicated when she meets Tristan Miles who wants to buy her media company. She hates him till she doesn’t, and there’s your story. You will feel as if you know these folks, both young and mature, as they figure out their lives.
I caught myself laughing out loud a lot during this book. The banter between Tristan and Claire is what all relationships should have. I also caught myself crying as well at all the heartfelt family moments! Fletcher, Harry and Patrick are some great kids and I would love to see a spin off with Fletcher to see the man that he becomes.
You don’t really need to read The Stopover to read this book but you do get some of the back stories in the first book. I love the relationships in these books and it makes me want to be a part of their lives. Tristan is a great book boyfriend when he found the right women.
T.L. Swan hit it out of the park with this book and I am always jonesing for more of her stories. I have read all her books now and I cannot wait for the next one!
After reading “The Stopover”, I wanted more of the Miles brothers! I love the plot of this story- I’m a sucker for single parent romances- with Claire as a widowed mother with three boys (who are crazy in the best way!!), and Tristan, who falls for all of them. I loved Tristan’s personality and how he could always make Claire laugh, and he always made her feel beautiful. And those boys stole the story!
The book was well-written, but I would say that I felt like the ending was rushed. I didn’t quite feel as settled as I would have liked. Nonetheless, I can’t wait for more!
This is my favorite TL Swan book to date! Amazing characters and a wonderful story!
Hands down one of the best books of 2020! I had a lot of expectations for this book after reading The Stopover last year and I didn’t know how TL would top herself, but she did. This book is it. It’s why I love romance and exactly what I want in a book. Tons of steam, lots of banter, sweet moments, and some emotional moments that will have you gripping your heart. It’s a feel-good romance that will warm you up, energize you and make you love love. I can’t stop thinking about this book.
If you thought Jameson was hot, just wait until you meet Tristan! These Miles brothers sure know what they want and will get it at any cost. And if you doubt that, even Claire herself experienced and watched it happen so many times throughout this book! Tristan was hilarious to read about. He knew what he wanted, but at the same time, he didn’t. And when he figured it out he went full force. It was so funny and sweet watching him tackle Claire’s rambunctious boys. From the first moment he met the boys, I knew I was in for a good show! Tristian grew so much as a character throughout this book and watching him fall in love was glorious.
Claire is an amazing heroine. She is a super mom, businesswoman, and just has the biggest heart. She is headstrong and so protective. An absolute mama bear and watching her defend her boys through and through made me admire her. She definitely wasn’t going to make it easy for Tristian to get what he wanted. And neither were her boys! This group of boys was just as headstrong as their momma and it really made for some amazing moments!
Tristan and Claire together were AMAZING! Like next level chemistry and passion. These two just made sense even though they are in such different places in life. They just clicked and I think they are one of my all-time favorite couples.
I really can’t say enough good things about this book. It had me laughing the whole way through and I couldn’t stop smiling. I really needed this book. It just made me feel so amazing after reading it and I honestly could reread it already. I love The Takeover so much and it will have a permanent spot on my bookshelves forever. I can’t wait for the next book in the Miles High Club. I’m crossing my fingers it’s Elliot and the mysterious blonde artist.
The takeover was beyond one of the best books I have ever read. I was laughing so hard that my ribs hurt with tears rolling down my face. Tristan will make any widowed mom out there have hope in finding love again. Not only does he love Claire with everything he has he also loves “his” children just as much. If you are looking for a book that you can’t put down and can’t stop thinking about even after you finish it then you have found the right one.
After reading the previous book in The Miles High Club, I was looking forward to the Tristan’s story. And T.L. Swan didn’t disappoint! The Takeover gave me ALL. THE. FEELS! It’s the perfect combination of heart, humor and heat. The storyline hooked me from the very beginning, and the characters, despite their flaws, are wonderful and relatable. This is one of those long stories that you devour in one sitting and you never get bored because it’s so deliciously good!
Dear Lord, Tristan is just perfect. Tall, dark and hansome, with just the right amount of alpha. He knows what he wants and he chases it. He oozes confidence and he can be cocky at times, but he’s so charismatic and charming that he stole my heart instantly. I loved how determined he was to win Claire over and how protective he was. And how he won the hearts of her children? All the swoons!
Claire is very admirable. As a single mom of 3 with a failing company to run, she was a personification of strength. I loved that she first thought about the kids and her obligations, and didn’t act like a lust-driven teen, even though her attraction to Tristan was palpable.
These two shared a sizzling chemistry, but had a lot of obstacles to overcome to find their HEA. Their journey to that point was filled with drama, but also humor. I adored how Tristan kept fighting for Claire, how they couldn’t stay away from each other and how they both strived for their love. They were incredibly passionate and their shared moments were insanely hot.
The Takeover is the perfect story for fans of contemporary romance. This storyline is so authentic and the characters are so amazing, that you got immediately sucked. I just loved that Tristan and Claire’s love story is not all rainbows and roses, that it’s filled with highs and lows, drama and fun, passion and angst. I’m looking forward to the next Miles brother. I’m curious what the author has up her sleeve for him!
The Takeover – TL Swan
The Takeover is a masterpiece of seriously hot, incredibly moving and emotive writing and I am exstatic that I got to read and review it.
Tristan Miles is one seriously delectable man. He’s strong, powerful and has that take-charge attitude every woman wants in a hot man, all except Claire Anderson. Claire just wants to do bodily harm to the smirking rich boy who’s trying to takeover her husbands legacy business, Anderson Media.
Claire is barely holding on to her family, three rambunctious boys, all missing their dad and getting into so much trouble but her biggest trouble comes in the form of the relentless Tristan Miles. He’s chasing her down, hell bent on capturing Claire for himself but along the way, he finds so much more than he’s bargained for.
Tristan, Claire, Fletcher, Harry and Patrick are the backbone of the story with some extremely touching and heartfelt moments between Tristan and the boys and some brilliant heat between Tristan and Claire. The Miles brothers also add some witty banter to the mix and have a great camaraderie within their ranks, endearing them to readers.
I think I fell in love with Tristan Miles in The Takeover. He just shined throughout the story and definitely lived up to the white knight tag, fulfilling every woman’s fantasy of the perfect man.
If I could give more than five stars I would and I can’t wait to see which Miles brother will be next?
What to say about this story? It’s got it all – really funny, poignant, romantic and passionate. I adored Tristan. He embodies in so many ways, what love should be in this story. How it’s not always about the singing birds and soft music. The relationship between Tristan and Claire’s sons alone is worth reading about.
Claire needed someone like Tristan who took her out of her “mom” role and made her feel like a desirable woman again. She still had so much baggage to work through in her life that it often caused them both a lot of pain.
This was a book where I could have tears in my eyes from something so sad and at the same time burst out laughing at how they reacted in the moment. Block off some time to read because you won’t want to put this down.
This is a truly beautiful, emotional, witty perfect book. One that has made me fall in love, with all the characters and i felt everything that happened in this book along with them. This book is just class and fully deserving to be the biggest this author has written so far
[ 5 of 5 stars ]
Catch me, I’m swooning hard!
Oh my! Have you ever read a book that makes you crazy?! It makes you horny, angry, lusty, enraged, turned on, turned out, turned up, happy, sad, mad, swoon, frustrated, wanting to shake someone by their neck while applying enough pressure to diminish their airway but not completely cut it off!?! Huh, so it’s just me?
The Takeover is more than it’s blurb. Tristan is more than he appears. This story is MORE. What starts as an end becomes a prologue. I know that made zero sense to you…but Tristan and Claire start with an end date. They start with an end but it’s really just the beginning.
The Takeover is beautiful, deep, and not without the naughty parts that TL Swan is known for. Fall for Tristan, love a wizard, teach a boy to be a man, and learn all about Tricky. TL Swan is going to have you crying, smiling, and fully embracing the tick tock.
Just be careful about picking your favorite Miles because they are more waiting in the wings…
Dibs on Tris!!!!!!
TL Swan has done it again. I love all of her books and didn’t think anyone could replace my love for her Stanton series but this book did it! I love Tristan and Claire’s story! I can’t tell you how many times I laughed and cried while reading this. I love that Claire is different from all her other heroines. She is older and a widow with children. Tristan is the playboy who has such a good heart down deep and can’t deny his attraction to Claire no matter how much he tries. Her kids are hilarious with how protective they are of their mother and the interactions with them and Tristan will have you laughing out loud which we all need at this point in 2020! The emotions will run deep in this one with some periods of heartbreak while they find their way through this relationship so have your tissues ready. One of my favorite reads this year by far!
Holy buckets, this book was incredible and so very enjoyable and fun to read! Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, the Stopover, but Tristan Miles and Claire Anderson absolutely stole my heart in this second book. I knew after having met Tristan in The Stopover, that his story would be interesting, but I had no idea it would totally exceed my expectations. Tristan Miles is the real deal and without giving anything away (because you must read this book!), his POV at the end of Chapter 9 and the beginning of Chapter 10 had me in tears from laughing so hard. OMG, the way this author captured Tristan’s thoughts was hysterical! And Claire is my favorite type of female lead–strong, sexy, forgiving, brave and courageous–and her 3 boys are true boys–I loved that they weren’t perfect little children. Tristan Miles always gets what he wants, but I think this time he had to really work for it! This was one of my favorite reads of the summer and I can’t wait for the next Miles brother’s story from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
TL Swan is the Queen of what she does! Every single time I read a new book from her it surpasses all of my expectations. Every. Single. Time.
The Takeover is a heartwarming, heartbreaking, hilariously funny story that has everything needed for the perfect contemporary / romcom read.
Tristan Miles is in for the shock of his life when he meets widowed Claire Anderson and her children. Claire hates Tristan with a passion. They are so wrong for each other. I can’t give anything away, just believe me when I say that this book will takeover your heart, mind and soul. I highly recommend you read it and everything else that TL Swan has written.
Loved everything about this book.
ladies do yourselves a favour and read this book i give it 5 stars. the book had me crying, laughing hard, yelling and all the other emotions oh my god the book is brilliant loved it so much i read it 3 times incase i missed something the last couple of times. loved love this book.
The Takeover had it all and gave me all the feels !! Claire and Tristen are enemies but yes their is that fine line. She has a struggling company and he is the best at takeovers. Her husband was killed tragically five years ago leaving her with three young boys and a company to raise and keep afloat. She now feels like the vultures are beginning to circle. Now in walks arrogant, brilliant and smoldering Tristen to make her an offer she can’t refuse but she is and she does. Now he shall sit back a wait but fate has other ideas and a chance meeting brings them face to face. They are on fire with their banter and angst! So emotional and I loved every minute of it.

This is the first book I’ve read by TL Swan and it definitely won’t be the last. In fact I didn’t realise The Takeover was the second book in a series so after finishing reading this book which, fortunately for me, can be read as a standalone I’ve now downloaded the first book and have no doubts I’ll be working my way through her backlist.
In The Takeover Claire Anderson is barely holding it together. After being suddenly widowed at a relatively young age, the only thing that is keeps her going is the desperation she has to hold onto the company her husband built up until their three sons are old enough to take control. Tristan Miles, head of acquisitions for his family empire and with a history of snatching up struggling businesses, now has his sights firmly fixed on Anderson Media and once he meets Claire that isn’t all he’s determined to acquire
I absolutely loved this book. It has elements of a hate/love relationship/second chance romance with a ‘when opposites attract’ vibe as on paper Claire is so far not Tristan’s type. His usual girlfriend would generally be some willowy model type who would put him first every time Here Claire is, an older woman, albeit barely, a widowed mother of three with all the entailing responsibilities that comes with them – he’ll always come last in her priorities. He should be running for the hills thanking his lucky stars for his narrow escape but he wants more and somehow they work as a couple. The chemistry between them is off the charts and I loved how they were able to laugh with each other. The dual point of view the author writes in means we get to see both sides of the story as their relationship develops. There were moments in this book that had me laughing out loud mostly those involving the interaction between Tristan and Claire’s sons especially when he got down to their level but then the mood would change as he sees just how deeply they all still grieve for their father in their own separate ways. This book was a definite joy to read and one I suspect I’ll be happy to reread again and again.
