A Wall Street Journal bestseller.
In bestselling author T L Swan’s second hot installment to the Miles High Club series, he’s sexy, rich, and her mortal enemy. Hate never felt so good.
I first met Tristan Miles at a meeting where he was trying to take over my late husband’s company.
He was powerful, arrogant, and infuriatingly gorgeous, and I hated him with every cell in my body. In the shock … him with every cell in my body. In the shock of the century, he called me three days later and asked me on a date.
I would rather die than date a man like him—though I do have to admit it was good for the ego. Turning him down was the highlight of my year.
Six months later, he was the guest speaker at a conference I attended in France.
Still arrogant and infuriating—but this time, surprisingly charming and witty.
When he looked at me, I got butterflies.
But I can’t go there.
He’s just a player in a hot suit, and I’m just a widow with three unruly sons.
I just need this conference to be over.
Because everybody knows that Tristan Miles always gets what he wants…and what he wants is me.

(Tristen) “I told you to call me Tristan.”
(Claire) “And I told you to go away.”
Claire Anderson (38), is a beautiful, smart and proud woman. She is a widowed mum to 3 adorable kids – Fletcher (17+) is short-tempered, Harry – (13) is the naughtiest child and Patrick (9) the wisest. She has been struggling for years to keep her late husbands company which is her children’s inheritence. When an offer comes to buy her company she has smoke coming out of ears almost literally.
Tristen Miles (34), is a handsome, smart and witty man. He is a playboy but has a gentle soul inside with an infectious personality which is so loveable. He is a ruthless and cold businessman, he always gets what he wants whether it’s business or women. When he targets another failing company he offers to buy persistently, colour him surprised when the owner is determined to push him away.
“You should probably stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you want to fucking eat me.”
“That’s very presumptuous, Mr. Miles.”
“Call me Tristan.”
“I’ll call you whatever I like,”
Claire and Tristen have very little similarities. He is uncomplicated and can have thoughtless sex but Claire, she is attracted to him and has lot of complications. When they meet again at a conference they were burning with physical attraction for the other.
“You see . . . I could pretend that I like you and that I want to explore our friendship or some fucking bullshit.” He sips his drink. “Or I could just tell you the truth.”
“Which is?” I breathe.
Our eyes are locked.
“The idea of you hating me while I lick you up is a fucking turn-on,” he whispers.
(Claire) “What’s the rush?”
(Tristen) “The rush is I want you naked, and I can’t get you naked until I’m naked. It’s the naked law.”
T.L. Swan I absolutely love your conversations!
Their sexual banter, preferably Tristen’s perspective is what I look forward to. Girls, he is so charming that can have you swooning. Tristen and Claire’s one week together extended to the weekend. They decide after this they are going back to their ordinary life.
“Well, where am I going to sleep?” “I can’t drive.”
“Call your limo driver.”
“He’s off tonight.”
“Why not call an Uber?”
“They ran out of cars.”
“I nearly died last night, Claire, between the cement couch, the clock, the cat, and now the fucking crazy nut (Harry) outside.”
But Paris isn’t over, Tristen pursues Claire and is gobsmacked by what he sees. His introduction with the kids had me laughing my ass off! He was introduced to horror in the best possible way, having being choked with his own underwear, getting his ligament torn and a sweet boy who is all smiles and touchy with him and finally a cat and a dog who have minds of their own; Tristen ran away. He realises Claire has a lot of things going in her life: work, financial problems and three rowdy children. He finds himself wanting to be with them.
“You know, Tris . . .” I pause. “I don’t want to sound insecure, because I’m not. I’m more than happy with who I am. But I do wonder what you see when you look at me.”
He leans his face onto his hand as he watches me. I feel suddenly uncomfortable. Why did I say that?
“You know what I see, Claire.”
I frown.
“I don’t see anything . . . it’s how I feel.”
I take his hand again.
“For the first time in my life . . .” He frowns, as if getting the wording right in his head.
“How do you feel, Tris?” I whisper.
His eyes meet mine. “Like myself.”
I like how the author used the characters complications to dictate the story. I like how Tristen didn’t simply jump on the children and just “these are Claire’s kids, I love them!”, he didn’t dislike them, he just couldn’t imagine the extend of rowdier they are. But he was willing to try, he didn’t only have a woman to win over but also three kids along. There are so many words by Tristen Miles that made my panties wet, I cannot say much it may spoil the book for you. Claire’s many inner monologues had me agreeing with her regarding Tristen. I’m so infatuated of Tristen Miles. I like it when she gets suddenly mad because he is nice, she can handle a flirty and fun Tristen not a caring Tristen. Both fall in love and it’s so beautiful.
“Tristan isn’t a soul sucker . . . he’s a savior. An angel in a perfect suit, he hides behind his asshole title. He’s a good man who takes no credit.”
At the end of the book Claire has a breakdown, it shows her protectiveness for her children and in this part also I’m amazed that the author didn’t simply hand over the kids to Tristen just like that.
This is my second favourite hero after Nathan Mercer (from Our Way), let me tell you T.L. Swan creates some epic heroes and best heroines. Two books from this author and I love them. I think this is a beautiful, cozy romance. There is not a bored moment in it. I highly recommend this book.
OMG!!!!! What a fantastic story!!! I laughed so hard! The bantering and jokes were over the top!! My heart broke and exploded at the same time!! I literally fell in love with the whole family!! So heartwarming!! T.L.Swan has taken over my heart!! Phenomenal!!
A well written fast paced read, I enjoyed it from start to finish. Claire, widowed for five years, gets more than she thought she wanted, when she hooks up with Tristan, billionaire takeover tycoon, for a supposed temporary fling. Neither could deny their connection, but Claire has three boys and they always come first. Tristan isn’t quite what he let’s the world believe, ruthless/heartless in business. He’s hot for sure, but his devotion is true, and zeroed in on Claire and her three dear hearts, who were the very devil sometimes lol. This had all the emotions that go with the growing pains of a new relationship, and the weight of leaving behind an old life.
It was realistic in it’s entirety, and had me laughing or sniffling, my heart felt everything. No filters really, hitting insecurities, strengths, needs, wants, frustrations to pretty much all aspects.
A great journey with an HEA that just rocked!!
I received an A R C through Netgalley and am happily and voluntarily leaving my own thoughts
Rating:
Even better than The Stopover!
I didn’t think I would like this book when I first read the blurb. Despite the fact that I am a single mother, I generally don’t like romance books where the heroine is a single mother. I like the two main characters to be unencumbered. However this book turned out to be both super steamy and utterly hilarious and I loved every minute of it.
The character development was terrific and I ended up loving all of them, including the heroine’s three kids, Fletcher, Harry and Patrick. Or as the Hero Tristan calls them, Fletch, the Wiz and Tricky. The relationship with Tristan and middle child, Harry (The Wiz or Wizard, because of Harry Potter) is especially awesome. Harry is so against Tristan and a bit of a nut, so the way they interact is hilariously funny.
I really enjoyed The Stopover, which was book one in The Miles High series. This book was even better. The relationship between Tristan and Claire was hot and so realistic for how a relationship with a single mother goes. Many of the times they were together in the beginning, the kids stayed with her parents, since she is a widow. Whereas if she were divorced it would have been weekends where the kids were with their father. Tristan isn’t introduced to the kids until a bit later, which is like it should happen in real life.
Tristan is the best book boyfriend I have come across in a while. He is wealthy, powerful, tall, dark, handsome and utterly irresistible. He takes care of Claire and yet can get things so sizzling hot in the bedroom that my kindle is in danger of overheating. I loved Tristan and definitely want him for myself. If only real men were just like him.
The storylines were perfect. There was one about the company Claire runs which her and her husband Wade Anderson started, Claire has been struggling to keep it going so that she can hand it over to her boys when they are old enough. There is the romance storyline between Claire and Tristan, which is extremely romantic and steamy. There is the storyline about Tristan wanting a family of his own, which is poignant and sweet. The storyline about Claire’s kids not wanting an interloper in their lives, which is so funny and charming. Then there is a storyline about his mother wanting something different for her son than a woman with three kids. This book was just so perfect. I loved every minute of it.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Good grief, this book had me all over the court. Tristan was one of the best male leads I’ve read in a long time. I laughed SO hard at times that my husband wondered if I’d lost my mind. But I also cried hard. Sobbed, actually, toward the end there.
Ugh. I hate that Tristan isn’t real and that I’ll never be able to read his story for the first time again.
One of my favorite reads of 2021. I look forward to rereading it about a dozen times!
I wish I could give it 6 stars. Witty, heartwarming, complicated divine read. Worth all you time. Adore. Adore. Adore this book.
I could not put this book down! I laughed and shed some tears!! I love this author!!!
TL Swan released two books within a month and I couldn’t wait to read The Takeover which is the second Book in the Miles High Club series.
This book is about Claire Anderson and Tristan Miles. Claire is a widow with three boys and tries everything to not lose her husband’s media company. Here comes Tristan in the picture. He is a sexy and rich business man and owns Miles Media with his brothers. His goal is to buy other companies and he set his eye on Anderson Media. Claire refuses to take his phone call, but at some point she gives in and meets with him for lunch to hear his offer. But he doesn’t want to help her, he wants to take over the company. Of course she says no and storms out.
Six months later her good friend and assistant convinced her to take part in a conference in France to relax. But what she didn’t see coming was that Tristan Miles is a guest speaker. She tries everything to avoid him while he tries everything to talk to her alone. You can feel the tension between those two and at some point Claire gives in and has a one hot night with Tristan. When he leaves the next day to Paris he invites her to spend the weekend with him, which she accepts. But after their little trip they both go back to their normal lives.
They can’t stop thinking of each other, but Claire knows there will never be more between them. But when Tristan sets his eye on something he tries everything to get it. And he set his eye on Claire. He goes to her house and is greeted by her three sons – Fletcher (Fletch) is 17, Harry (Witz) is 13 and the youngest Patrick (Tricky) is 9 years old. I am sure you will love those kids because they are special in their own way.
The first meeting between Tristan and Claire’s kids is absolutely hilarious and I just couldn’t stop laughing everytime Tristan has an encounter with one of the kids.
Even though he didn’t get off the right feet with the kids he still wants to be with Claire and takes everything in his power that she will be his.
OMG! THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING! TL Swan totally nailed it and I wanted the story never to end! I just couldn’t put this book down. This story gave me so many feelings. The chemistry between those two are off the charts! It’s romantic and so steamy! And the relationship between Tristan and the kids is so hilarious. As their relationship progresses you just want to swoon! I fell so in love with Tristan and I want to marry this guy!
I highly recommend everyone to read this book ASAP!
This was my first time reading stories by this author; and it definitely want be the last. This story has all the required elements of a successful story. I really liked how each relationship was treated. It’s emotional, sexy, drama, family issues, and humorous with a very believable storyline. I can’t wait to finish the series,
5 Star review of The Takeover (The Miles High Club #2) by T.L.Swan
How is it that I have not come across T.L.Swan before? I fell hard and fast for successful businessman Tristan Miles. He ticked every box for me, even though there were times that I wanted to smack him across the back of his head. Claire Anderson is a widow, trying to keep her company afloat and look after her three sons. Claire grew on my, although there were times that she frustrated me.
I loved everything about Tristan and Claire once they finally got together. Although if it were up to Fletcher, Harry and Patrick I’m not sure they would have ever got together. The interaction with Tristan and her boys had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions.
There were some sad parts to this story but the fun and outrageous behaviour of the boys had me in tears as they did there best to block and payback not only Tristan but one another.
I loved the relationship that Claire had with her sons and once they finally accepted Tristan, the relationship that developed between them brought tears to my eyes. This was a well written story that ticked all the boxes for me.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved it so much that I went and downloaded the audio to listen to as I’m writing my review. I really can’t believe Ms Swan has not crossed my radar before now and I’m certainly going to rectify that because I also downloaded book 1 in The Miles High Club Series, The Stopover, looks like I’m heading for a binge read….
This book ticked all my boxes, I laughed or should I say snorted at the antics of the children and Tristan, I fell hard and fast for the swoon worthy hero, I loved the sassy, strong, single mum Claire and I adored those 3 boys who will do what they have to in order to protect their mum, the chemistry is intense and the banter witty and funny, I cried at the sad times in this book but every tear was worth it because this story will stay with me for a long time and I will be re reading this book and listening again to the audio when I’m looking for a feel good moment. If you are looking for the perfect read or listen look no further than this hilarious, steamy gem from the very talented Ms Swan.
I stumbled upon the Takeover by accident, started to read it, and couldn’t stop! I just loved Claire, a widowed mom of three boys, and Tristan Miles, a wealthy business owner, who meets Claire by chance at a workshop. She’s a bit older and I loved their instant chemistry, her hesitation, and his smoldering seduction! What’s meant to be just a bit of fun at an out-of-state business trip, becomes the beginning of their very rocky relationship. They just can’t quit each other, and it is so very funny and real at times, especially when he meets her children.
This perfectly polished type-A player has met his match with her three sons who long for a father figure and are in need of some serious discipline. I have three children of my own and could relate to Claire in so many ways as I raised three kids 100% on my own, and each of my children have very different personalities, just like Fletcher, Harry, and Patrick, do.
Claire inherited her late husband’s media business and things aren’t going very well. Tristan runs a very successful media conglomerate with his four brothers, but they decide early on not to mix business with pleasure, and it truly brought me to tears to read the end and how he intervened to help her. Big fat tears reading the very last line of the epilogue. I am a true romantic and just loved their journey together.
The author did a fabulous job with character development and pulling you into the story. It’s filled with witty banter, passion, flirting, sexy times, angst, turmoil, fighting, loyalty and support, family times, and most importantly, love. When you truly love someone, they become your priority, and it was so emotional to read how Tristan did a complete 180 and embraced his new life with hope and a full heart. Claire gave his a run for his money and was rather frustrating at times, but I could totally understand where she was coming from as Tristan often seemed too good to be true. I loved how she appreciated him and noticed his acts of kindness, and how they were totally smitten with one another.
His brother, Jameson finds love with Emily Foster in book one of this series, the Stopover, and I am hoping there are two more books on the way because I need more! Especially since we learn how Elliot Miles was fascinated with an artist, Harriet Boucher…and the fourth brother, Christopher, is super sexy, successful, and single too.
Loved this book and highly recommend. One of my favorite reads this summer! So funny, poignant, and real.
The Takeover had me in love with Tristan from the get go however Claire had me on the fence for the first part of the book unsure whether I would ever like her character. I persevered and was thankful as their story stole my heart and actually had me wanting more. Claire is a single mum of 3 boys and at times the interaction between Tristan and her sons steals the show. This is a story that will make you laugh till you cry, have you frustrated and hurting for Tristan and will also have you understanding the grief that Claire is suffering under. Another story and hero that will climb under your skin and have you captivated.
Deliciously Addictive- Oh, I love this book! I’ve always loved Mr. Masters – it’s my all-time fav of this author. Whenever I’m feeling a little sad, this book always picks me up and although I did like The Stopover, The Takeover is my new fav book. Tristian Miles is such an amazing character – he’s definitely swoon material. This book is filled to the brim with romance but there are also some laugh out loud moments. I’m not talking a little giggle her and there, I’m talking full on, laughing so hard I almost fell, off my treadmill. This author has the ability to draw you in to all her books. There are many books I read I don’t feel anything, it’s like reading an appliance manual so it says a lot that I always get deeply attached to her characters. I some times, feel a bit anxious as I’m waiting for the angst to start and I’m not a big fan – but this book flowed S is a book that you will gobble up and enjoy and read again and again. I highly recommend.

This is the first book I have reviewed for TL Swan and the second I have read (I read and listened to The Stopover several months ago)
I freaking LOVED this story! It manages to be fresh and endearing in a reading world chockfull of alphahole billionaires. Tristan is deliciously dirty but also his own man, one that knows what he wants and who he wants is Claire. He doesn’t care about the small age difference, her kids, her job, he is out of fucks and wants what he wants. *Swoon*
Claire’s life is complicated AF and she really doesn’t have time for all of THAT. but really who can resist this man! *fans self*.
Let me tell you about those damn kids of hers! I usually despise stories that involve kids. It’s not because I hate kids. It’s because authors very seldom can create an endearing,**real** child character. But I am here to tell you, TL Swan *nails it* OMG,I have never laughed so hard during children scenes *tick tock*
This is a highly entertaining story. You’ll fan yourself, laugh out loud and say a couple of “awwwwws”
A word about the writing on this book. My number one pet peeve when it comes to books is repetitive descriptive actions with/from a character (s) *bite lips, scrunch up faces*. This happens several times in this book, so if it bugs you, be forewarned. It happened several times, but it wasn’t annoying enough for me to stop reading. I also felt like the ending was a bit rushed.
This is a story you’ll enjoy if you like steamy romances, sexy dirty talkers alphas that are gooey inside, and the sassy, brave women that love them.
Five *tick tock* stars to The Take Over!
More than a thousand stars for this book
I’m a fan of T L Swan since I started reading her books last year and I read almost all of them, but not one like as this.
I laughed in every chapter. She has a brilliant sense of humor.
As a reader I never read a book so funny and I doubt I will read one such like this one.
This is my first favorite book this year. I have some of them that are my favorite but “The Takeover” is on the TOP of my 2020 books.
Tristian and Claire are an amazing couple and I think they complete each other in ways I never saw in two characters.
Readers you need to read this amazing book if you love roncom books.
I absolutely loved Tristian in The Stopover he was the down to earth brother, funny, as breath-taking as his older brother, most definitely a manwhore also, all the Miles aires where wealthy and good looking and great at what they did in Miles Media. Tristian Miles was the brother that dismantle companies, he saw weakness and pounced. Tristian was good at it. That is until he met Claire Anderson of Anderson Media. Tristian wanted her company and bugged her everyday sometimes 2 to 3 times until Claire took his call. Claire hated everything Tristian represent a bully, a dominate personality that demanded and commanded attention and wanted her husband company. Claire refused.
Claire Anderson a sassy heroine that lost her husband 5 years prior and as still struggling everyday with the lost of her husband. Warren left her Anderson media and 3 boys Fletcher, Harrison & Patrick all trouble boys now that their father was gone and Claire didn’t know how to help them. They were very protective over their mother.
Claire decide to take a break and go to a week long seminar and after attending guess who is the main attraction. The one man Claire wish she would never see again yes Tristian Miles. After a day of ignoring Tristian they discover they have more in common the electricity that surge through their bodies when every they see one another. Claire denies Tristian, which Tristian is never use to a woman ever turning him down is now turning the Miles charm full force.
After a weekend in Paris Claire tells Tristian they are no more she has 3 boys and refuse to involve them into this which was just a fling. Well Tristian wasn’t down and wanted more decides to go to her house and why did he do that. Tristian was attacked by her boys with his own underwear.
Now absolutely scared of Claire demon children Fletch, Wiz & Trickey his nicknames for her kids and not only that Muf the cat & the dog. Tristian was convinced they were all crazy. However he still couldn’t get her out of his mind and decided he wanted the entire package. He was tired of living alone so he stayed on her killer couch with Muf the pissing cat.
So many up & down Tristian is the best book boyfriend ever, all he wanted was a family of his own and he found that with Claire and the 3 hearts that was connected to her.
this book is incredible. every character will seep into your heart and take it over. you will love it.
take a look at my blog for a more in-depth review trust me, don’t miss, out on this book.

4 1/2 stars. This one was very steamy and funny. Loved it!
