For the first time in one elegant collector’s edition hardcover, and featuring an introduction by New York Times bestselling author Terry Brooks, here are the first three novels of that classic series: The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara, and The Wishsong of Shannara—the beginning of a phenomenal epic of good and evil. The Sword of Shannara Long ago, the wars of the ancient Evil … Shannara
Long ago, the wars of the ancient Evil ruined the world. In peaceful Shady Vale, half-elfin Shea Ohmsford knows little of such troubles. But the supposedly dead Warlock Lord is plotting to destroy everything in his wake. The sole weapon against this Power of Darkness is the Sword of Shannara, which can be used only by a true heir of Shannara. On Shea, last of the bloodline, rests the hope of all the races.
The Elfstones of Shannara
The magical Ellcrys tree is dying, loosening the spell that bars the Demons from enacting vengeance upon the land. Now Wil Ohmsford must guard the Elven girl Amberle on a perilous quest as she carries one of the Ellcrys’ seeds to a mysterious place where it can be quickened into a powerful new force. But dark on their trail comes the Reaper, most fearsome of all Demons, aiming to crush their mission at any cost.
The Wishsong of Shannara
An ancient Evil is stirring to new life, sending its ghastly Mord Wraiths to destroy Mankind. To win through the vile growth that protects this dark force, the Druid Allanon needs Brin Ohmsford—for she alone holds the magic power of the wishsong. Reluctantly Brin joins the Druid on his dangerous journey. But a prophecy foretells doom, as Evil nurses its plans to trap the unsuspecting Brin into a fate far more horrible than death.
Thus begins Terry Brooks’s thrilling Shannara epic, an unforgettable tale of adventure, magic, and myth.

The first book had a very good story line and developed characters, however I had some difficulty totally enjoying it as I felt it was too descriptive and therefore somewhat plodding in narrative. The second and third books in this trilogy were more tightly written and although still descriptive flowed more easily and thoroughly enjoyed would give …
Absolute Classic for Fantasy Fans!
Enter a world where magic is king. The writing is so perfect wou will feel the tiredness, the cold and the fear as this saga take you on they’re search for the sword. Have fun, enjoy and don’t forget to put out the cat before you start so as not to be interrupted.

A little too much like LOTR
I could not read this book. From the beginning, it becomes clear that is a very familiar (read: unoriginal) story. I could forgive that, though, if it were well-written. Unfortunately, the writing style is not engaging, and I was falling asleep trying to get through the first few chapters. I have to give this one a hard pass.
I’ve read this book several times since it was released, most recently several weeks ago. While it is not the most original or best written fantasy novel I have read, it is entertaining. It is a book I don’t think many parents would object to their children reading.
Great series, Terry Brooks is obviously a master story teller
I read this ages ago. My favorite of this trilogy is still the Wishsong of Shannara.
A classic fantasy work
I like to relax to fantasy when not reading non-fiction. It’s hard to find a good writer these days but these books are well written and the story line easy to follow.
I’m still in the series and find it okay to put it down for a few days and then return without being lost.
Terrific characters support a strong story of good versus evil.
There isn’t much left to be said, that hasn’t already been said, about “The Sword of Shannara”. Except for young readers encountering the trilogy for the first time, I envy you the experience and advise that this series is a classic for fantasy fans. Elves, humans, and druids struggle for freedom from power-hungry demons in a dangerous world …
Great fantasy series with lots of exciting adventures
Only read first book loved it now that it is a triolgy i can start all over and enjoy all three books together
Loved… Terry Brooks is a captivating and engaging writer.
Terry Brooks is awesome. Love the entire Shannara series. Highly recommended!
This is a wonderful fantasy series. The characters are well developed as well as interesting.
One of my all time favorites! I’m reading the series again.
Terry Brooks builds a world that is riveting. Second only to Tolkien’s masterpieces. He wrote this years ago so if the settings seem played, it is only because everyone since has copied him. If you love fantasy and have never read this, it is a must-read.
Similar to the Lord of the Rings, and a great beginning to an excellent series.
