For the first time in one elegant collector’s edition hardcover, and featuring an introduction by New York Times bestselling author Terry Brooks, here are the first three novels of that classic series: The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara, and The Wishsong of Shannara—the beginning of a phenomenal epic of good and evil. The Sword of Shannara Long ago, the wars of the ancient Evil … Shannara
Long ago, the wars of the ancient Evil ruined the world. In peaceful Shady Vale, half-elfin Shea Ohmsford knows little of such troubles. But the supposedly dead Warlock Lord is plotting to destroy everything in his wake. The sole weapon against this Power of Darkness is the Sword of Shannara, which can be used only by a true heir of Shannara. On Shea, last of the bloodline, rests the hope of all the races.
The Elfstones of Shannara
The magical Ellcrys tree is dying, loosening the spell that bars the Demons from enacting vengeance upon the land. Now Wil Ohmsford must guard the Elven girl Amberle on a perilous quest as she carries one of the Ellcrys’ seeds to a mysterious place where it can be quickened into a powerful new force. But dark on their trail comes the Reaper, most fearsome of all Demons, aiming to crush their mission at any cost.
The Wishsong of Shannara
An ancient Evil is stirring to new life, sending its ghastly Mord Wraiths to destroy Mankind. To win through the vile growth that protects this dark force, the Druid Allanon needs Brin Ohmsford—for she alone holds the magic power of the wishsong. Reluctantly Brin joins the Druid on his dangerous journey. But a prophecy foretells doom, as Evil nurses its plans to trap the unsuspecting Brin into a fate far more horrible than death.
Thus begins Terry Brooks’s thrilling Shannara epic, an unforgettable tale of adventure, magic, and myth.

I really didn’t like the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I read all three and The Hobbit and just didn’t get it. (I actually had to watch the Rankin-Bass animated TV special with Orson Bean as Bilbo before I understood what actually happened in The Hobbit.) I’m not a stupid person, I read a lot, I didn’t get all the hoopla. Then someone gave me a copy …
Classic books I read as a young man that captured my imagination.Brooks built a world that has stood the test of time and will be around for many generations to enjoy. As I re-read the series ot brings back grateful memories, I would recommend this series to anyone who loves well written fantasy
Not great writing, but great storytelling and enjoyable characters highlight the first of Terry Brooks many Shannara books. Derivative of the Lord of the Rings, it’s still a very enjoyable trilogy of stand alone stories.
the trilogy that is the basis of the movie Shannara that was produced by MTV, it is a pure fantasy masterpiece written by terry brooks. Although an older publication, the writing is timeless and never ceases to entertain.
Couldn’t put this one down
The three original stories are the best of the Shannara series. A must-read for fantasy fans!
This books combines the 1st 3 books in the World of Shannara. The Sword is basically as re-hash of Lord of the Rings. The Next book Elfstones is what MTV made into the Shannara Chronicles, which was awful, the book is much better and the final book is Wishsong. The Elfstones is in my opinion the best of the 3.
If you have read or seen the …
I have gotten lost in the world of Shannara and I don’t even care. Terry has created such a fun, almost possible world that I’ve embraced. He’s blended two of my favorite genres so well. His characters are great and their actions move the story along, but it’s what he’s done with taking different spins on old, favorite tropes that has me …
One of my favorite stories with the lead character a strong, determined, self-sufficient woman with a complex and interesting personality.
Really enjoyed all the books in the shannara series definately recomend it, if you liked lord of the rings you’ll like this!
This is by far one of my favorites. Great characters that are relateable. Would recommend to any fantasy reader
It just lacks a certain something for me
I love the story and how he tells it in his books. Wonderful writer. Wonderful tale. One of those books I can read over and over.
If you like LOTR…this is for you!! Page turner including 3 books of the lore of Shannara. Great read!
I’ve read all but the last two of over 20 in the series. Great book.
This story is one of my go to favorites
Terry Brooks creates a kingdom and characters that grab you and hold you from start to finish. This series is a must read for any sci to fan.
I actually have the three individual books but I rate them the same. Great characters on epic adventures. Of course similar to Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings yet different. Brooks is less “wordy” than Tolkein but tells a story just as great.
One of the best Trilogies i have ever read!
Boring! Not as good as LOTR but clearly inspired by it- I didn’t care much about the characters.
