This a delightful book that is definitely worth reading.
I was gifted this book by the author and I decided to volunteer to read and review it.
All her life Lainey has learned everything nuance to chocolate. Her dream is to work in the chocolate department of Alpine Foods in Switzerland. She secures an internship and is finally on her quest to become a chocolatier. Once she arrives, though, she discovers her internship has been cancelled. Lainey goes into a panic but help is around the corner and his name is Yves. He offers her an internship in the pet care department. Can Lainey show stuffy, uptight Yves she’s the gal for Alpine Foods or will her fear of dogs prevent her from achieving her dreams?
The Swiss Mishap is a feast for the senses. It’s message of indulging in what life has to offer, overcoming your fears and taking the leap of faith when falling in love is heartwarming. Lainey reminds me of me when I was that age and traveled to France. Her love of chocolate connected me to her right away and I totally got hungry while reading.
What makes this a five-star romance? While the romance was sweet, there was such an attraction between Lainey and Yves, it was delightful to watch it unfold. Yes, both of them clashed heads but again, it made the reading all the more delicious. It is a very sweet romance so there’s only kissing at the very end. While I squealed with delight when they finally got together, I wish it would’ve happened sooner. More kissing, please.
If you’re looking for a romantic comedy you can savor while wanting to travel abroad, pick up The Swiss Mishap today. You’ll never look at chocolate the same. Highly recommend!

My second book by Amey. She is amazing. I’ve enjoyed her other book so I was really looking forward to this one. It definitely came through and was as good as I thought it would be.
Lainey is a Chocoholic. Seriously, her online ID is Chocophile . She’s a true addict to her comfort food of choice. Her dream job is to work in the chocolate department of Alpine Foods in Switzerland.
She got an internship and is finally on her quest to become a chocolatier. Once she arrives, though, a mix up lands her in the pet foods division.
She works under the supervision of division’s head, the swoon-worthy Yves Claremont.
Yves!!
I feel in love with the characters right away! UGH THEY ARE TOO CUTE.
I loved their first encounter, the verbal sparring, their thowdown, the way they worked to show each other how much they care and the way their lives entwined without really realizing it. These two have the kind of connection that as a reader you can just feel, it gives you butterflies and makes you cry when things aren’t right.
The sweet romance… sigh. (ok, couldn’t resist the pun lol)
The chocolate… mouthwatering. (because nothing pairs with chocolate like love.)
All these things describe this book. Everything was just amazing.
I could go on and on about The Swiss Mishap but that would take time away from you actually reading it.
I highly recommend this book. Go buy it! I have a feeling you’ll fall in love with these characters as much as I did!
A memorable read from beginning to end, The Swiss Mishap, kept me turning the pages. Lainey’s plans go awry when her dream internship under the Alpine Foods chocolate division takes an unexpected turn into the pet food department headed by the distant, ambitious Yves. Lainey’s indomitable spirit in the face of hardships makes her an endearing soul, while the gradual thawing of Yves’s cold exterior make for two page-turning character arcs. Despite company policy of not dating within Alpine Foods, the two feel an undeniable attraction that is both forbidden and believable. I can’t recommend this story enough to lovers of romance and chocolate!
I really enjoyed this book. It is easy to read, engaging and left me smiling. There are some fantastic characters in the book. I loved the French and Swiss quirks that were incorporated into the story, it added to the beautiful setting and gave a snapshot of life in the country.
I loved the ‘fish out of water’ feeling that Lainey experiences throughout the story, like any foreigner in a new country, it was really relatable. Lainey is a great character she’s fun and feisty, but also brave and determined and it’s hard not to like her, no matter what scrape she gets herself into. I also liked Yves, his journey of discovery is part of the book that really resonated. I also love the way he and Lainey interact with each other, it adds romance, humour and an element of unpredictability.
Like chocolate the book is comforting, appealing and worth curling up and enjoying in the evening. I found the chocolate facts really interesting and it’s easy to see how intoxicating the world of chocolate can be. Overall it was a really wonderful book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.
I thought Lainey was too self involved in this book, and I did not like her. She had a way of being too free with the property of others and was judgmental. Yves was almost too kind to her, but I did enjoy the dogs and beautiful scenes of Switzerland!
I received this book for free in a contest, but my review is voluntary.
Deliciously delightful! A wonderful sweet story full of fun little mixups, mishaps and mistakes that add to the story. I enjoyed the characters and loved how the story progressed.
I enjoyed this sweet little romance. The author took great care in her representation of the Swiss culture, and I could tell there was lots of research that went into this. I enjoyed the smattering of authentic touches–little snippets of French, cultural things that differ in Switzerland than in my own country. It was an enjoyable romp through a foreign country sprinkled with a few hilarious moments that just had me smiling as I read.

Her struggles with French, a fear of dogs, a good looking boss and an over abunlance of chocolate make life full of ups and downs for Lainey and those around her. Lainey has much more than her fair share of misfortune that makes for some funny situations. It seems that her boss is always there to help and feeling grow. This book has a bit of everything. Relatable characters, mystery, desire, a little romance, travel, everyday life and so on. A nice read.
A sweet, charming, and fun romcom. Very well woven plot and interesting characters. Loved Lainey quirkness and all the mishaps. A very entertaining read that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to start.
A friend recommended Ms. Zeigler to me and I’m so glad she did.
Swiss Mishap is a fun beautiful read.
I was pulled in from the beginning and somewhere down the line I felt as though I was in Switzerland.
This book was well written, easy flow and the story line was perfect.

The Swiss Mishap was an entertaining read! It was a perfect snowy afternoon to sit down and follow the main character, Lainey, throughout her journey in Switzerland and laugh at some of the things she experienced. A little romance, and a little suspense make this a fun read!
I really enjoyed this story. I love how the author describes things in relation to chocolate, totally relatable. Lainey heads to Switzerland for an internship with one of her favorite chocolate companies. When she gets there she is told her internship was canceled. After fainting in the lobby she is interviewed for a different department and gets the job. Lainey goes through several trials and tribulations working for her boss Yves. Then when things seem to be going well everything falls apart. There is a happy ending to the story, which I enjoyed. I highly recommend this book.
Completely enjoyed the daily mishaps poor Lainey suffered due to no fault of her own. Yves was the perfect workaholic that needed life drawn back intohim!
Cute Rom-Com set in Switzerland. The main character struggles with cultural differences and a multitude of issues dealing with life in a foreign country.
She wants to make chocolate but she finds her course has been cancelled. He wants to redeem his father and when she comes along for a job, he takes her on. Can they help each other? Will they fall in love with each other? See where they will go
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book whisked me away on a sweet, romantic, delectable, savory journey to Switzerland, the Chocolate Capital of the World!!!
This book has a creative story line, fantastic writing style that flows with meticulous and vivid scenes, well-developed characters, is evenly paced, and keeps you completely entertained through the last page.
Lainey’s life has been pretty much wrapped up in chocolate and she has finally scored an internship of her dreams in Switzerland at Alpine Foods. When Lainey arrives super excited to start her shift in the chocolate department at Alpine Foods, she is heartbroken to discover her internship has been cancelled. However, the department chair, Yves, offers her an opportunity to still work for the company, but in the Pet Care department, and if she does well there, she might be able to then transfer back to the chocolate department. Although, Lainey has a fear of dogs, dating way back to an attack when she was a kid, working at Alpine Foods, has been her dream and she is not going to let anything interfere with that.
This book was a delicious, enticing, enjoyable, entertaining, hilarious, inspiring, and satisfying read!
I really enjoyed the main characters, Lainey and Yves. They were likable, relatable, and genuine. I really liked Lainey as she was smart, determined, passionate, enthusiastic, caring, and stubborn. I loved her love for chocolate. I loved how she associated it with so many fond memories and how she even used chocolate as a security blanket to help her get through difficult times. It was interesting hearing her recall enjoying chocolate when she was a kid while using it to block out her parents rocky marriage, her dad’s struggling business, and her teenage drama years – it was all about the chocolate and how she wanted to bring that same level of love, comfort, and armor to others.
I also enjoyed Yves as he was ambitious, anxious, tenacious, sincere, persistent, and adamant. I really enjoyed Lainey and Yves together! There were definitely immediate sparks between these two and it was beautifully written in a romantic, enduring manner. Of course, there were still lots of witty banter and playful scenes between these two that made for some great LOL moments!!
I think the author did an excellent job on her character development as these characters were so real and personal on many levels!
A strong character development journey to root for and enjoy watching it unfold!
The author’s writing is strong and eloquently detailed. She really provided so much detail in her writing that it was easy to picture – especially of beautiful, picturesque Switzerland. I have never been before, but it is definitely on my bucket list now!
I also really enjoyed the funny, “Oh, those Americans,” scenes LOL!!! Lainey certainly got into some of those silly situations that only happen to Americans when they travel abroad – and they sure were entertaining!!!
There are some predictable scenes. However, there are still a couple unexpected twists and turns that you won’t see coming!
This book is technically not part of a book series and can be read as a standalone.
All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend it! I think all romantic comedy readers will like this book too! So, add it to your TBR List and get to reading – you won’t be disappointed!
