Swiss Mishap is an awesome read! I was not sure how I would like it at first but was hooked within the first couple of chapters. I found Lainey and Yves to be fun and entertaining characters. The setting is wonderfully beautiful and the story is so delightfully sweet.
I highly recommend Swiss Mishap. It is getting a well deserved five plus stars from me. I would love to read more like this from Amey Zeigler in the near future.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
This cute adorable story will put a smile on your face. Elaine comes to Switzerland expecting an internship in Alpine Foods Chocolate Department. What she got was so much more. Yves and Elaine sets this story apart and draws you into the underlying layers where she and Yves journey takes them into a forbidden relationship towards a happily ever after. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Chocolate is a girl’s best friend.
The Swiss Mishap by Amey Zeigler is a book for people that love to speak French, eat chocolate, and of course, adore pets. We follow Elaine through her four-month internship at Alpine Foods from the end of August to the end of November.
Elaine Peterson
Elaine, Lainey, Peterson is a recent college graduate who received a four-month internship at Alpine Foods working in their Chocolate department. At least that is what she thought. Instead, Lainey is working in the Pet Care department, which is a big problem. She is deathly afraid of dogs but, Lainey loves chocolate. Throughout her internship, Lainey develops feelings for her boss, which is against the rules. So, now she thinks that maybe she isn’t cut out to work for Alpine.
Likes and Dislikes
My likes for Lainey are
• She’s a big chocolate lover.
• Lainey evolved throughout the novel and changing the goal that she has had since she was little.
• She is trusting Yves enough with her secret.
My only dislike for Lainey is that she should have told Yves how she felt, and then they could have worked something out.
Yves Claremont
Yves Claremont is making headway in Alpine Foods not only to bring his last name into good graces again but because he wants to succeed. He decided to give Lainey an internship within his department because he thought that she would do well within his department. One big problem though is he didn’t expect to spend a lot of time with her. He likes to keep his personal and business life separate but with Lainey around that line is blurred.
Likes and Dislikes
My likes for Yves are
• Despite being wealthy, he doesn’t care about those things.
• Keeps his personal and business lives separate and doesn’t like to intermingle those two.
• Tries in his way to woo Lainey.
The only thing I dislike about Yves is that once he figured out that he likes Lainey more than as a coworker that he should have told her.
Four Stars
The Swiss Mishap by Amey Zeigler is a four-star rating. It was fantastic, but I was a bit confused by some of the French sayings. Besides that, it was an excellent read. Ms. Ziegler does a tremendous job of making me think while I was reading that I was in Switzerland.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I’ve never read a book quite like this one. I loved everything about it! The characters, the plot, the setting, and most importantly, the chocolate, all were fantastic!
In the first chapter we meet Lainey. She’s optimistic and just thrilled about her internship in Chocolate at Alpine Foods in Switzerland. But, unfortunately, her internship in Chocolate fell through. And she had no idea. Lainey is adaptable, and that’s one of the fun things about her. I had to laugh at her struggles in the first few chapters. She has none of her things due to a luggage mix-up. The language and culture barrier are another issue. And the man who ends up her boss…he drives her crazy!
But chocolate is always there for Lainey, and she applies it liberally. There were many times in Switzerland when the situation just seemed right for more chocolate.
I love that you also see the events through the eyes of Yves, Lainey’s boss in Pet Care. That’s where she ended up when her internship in Chocolate fell through. So funny! There were so many laugh out loud moments in the relationship between Lainey and Yves.
The plot of this one is a lot of fun! Who doesn’t want to read about working for a chocolate company? It’s a book you definitely want to read for yourself!
I loved this romantic comedy. The characters are so sweet and there are certainly mishaps in the story. Wonderfully lighthearted and sweet, reading this is a great way to spend an evening.

Lainey is a serious chocoholic. She heads for Switzerland for an exciting internship with Alpine Foods. But there’s a problem – when she arrives, the chocolate division has lost their funding, and she ends up in pet food. With Yves. She has an series of mishaps throughout the book – in the first chapter alone, she refers to her new boss as Madame (Eve as opposed to Yves), faints, and eats Yves’ lunch. This was a really nice book to read – watching Yves and Lainey grow from employer/employee to friends to more. Lainey did an awful lot of growing up, as well, and she did it in a different country and culture. This is my first read from this author – not the last!
