This is the first book I’ve read by Jennifer and it was a great read. Luella is so shy and withdrawn, mistreated, ignored, and treated as an outcast that she lives a solitary life and spends most of her time fantasizing. Luella captured my heart from the start. After meeting Fletcher, who is good looking, confident, and full of charm, she starts to come out of her shell and the ugly duckling turns into a swan. Fletcher helps her live out of some of her fantasies and they are definitely hot and erotic. The ending totally surprised me and I definitely want more of Luella and Fletcher’s story!
I’m not really sure where to start for this book. If you are into kink, this is definitely kinky. Super kinky. I really liked how Luella came out of hiding basically. She was so introverted that she was wrapped up in her own day dreams more than real life until Fletcher came along. He seemed like a nice guy who might be genuinely interested in her. But he has plenty of secrets of his own. And he’s into some different, very non-vanilla, stuff. The ending shocked me and it is a cliffhanger, big one. One of those that make you shake your head in wonder. And as for Luella’s boss, well, there is no nice word for that man. There just isn’t.
First time in opening one of this author’s books. Sounded like a character I wanted to know more about. Luella is the enticer with being relatable. Like many of us she is a book reader wanting the escape the words provide. In this we find out what she escapes from. Fletcher is the one also who pulls her from that escape. Still on a path of discovery in a different fashion you go with these two as it unfolds. Sometimes you will be melting though with the explorations that occur. All in all they keep you entertained with them but this also though isn’t all my dear.
Luella and Fletcher’s story is different, you have to read it to understand. The twist at the end is unexpected, but not surprising (from Luella’s point of view, I think). All I can say here is for shame. Looking forward to book 2.
Wow! Hot from the start! What a great read. Luella is use to being the girl in the corner but a run in with Fletcher has her thinking about his offer to be his project. The twist at the end has me definitely wanting to read #2! A great new author for me to read!
You are your hardest critic….
Luella, was hers… she felt like something was always missing..
Building walls and keeping the world at bay…
Then by meeting Fletcher, by an embarrassing moment..
Sent Luella on a path, of self-discovery, self-worth, and self-respect…
This story does have a light BDSM theme….and an ending leaving wanting more.
Wow. That’s the main word that comes to mind while reading this book. I was drawn into the story, being able to connect with the heroine in a way that doesn’t happen often. My heart was so sad for her but at the same time I have such repeat for her and everything she overcomes.
The heat factor in this book keep me hooked. Not only was it a book about transformation, but the kink factor was yummy! I couldn’t get enough. That ending threw me for a loop and I can’t wait to read the next book. I really hope Luella gets her much deserved happy ending.
There were times I really liked Fletcher and what his character stood for, but most of the time I really didn’t like him all too much. I really hope he can save himself in my eyes in the next book.
Overall, I was hooked on this book. It was different and interesting but it was also a very beautiful story that I couldn’t help but continue to read long into the night. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Gripping- couldn’t put it down! The story of a social reject who has all but given up on finding any satisfaction who meets the man of her dreams over a book and tapas…and he is ready to give her everything she has ever fantasized about (and more!). And while they seems to be falling for each other and Luella starts to relax into her ideal relationship, the end leaves us hanging on the most shocking and saddening cliffhanger. Ready for book 2!
As Jennifer Lassalle Edwards is new to me, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would I like this? What is the heat level? Am I going to throw my kindle across the room? Only one way to find out and I have to say I enjoyed what I read! Luella is stuck in a job she doesn’t like, with a boss who cheats on his wife… plus he’s a jerk. She has insecurities just like everyone else and she has to fight through them. Upside, she doesn’t have to fight through them alone. Fletcher is there to be a step by step guide. Now, I’ll admit Fletcher is not my favorite. I had moments of having to decide if I liked him or if I hoped he stepped on a two prong Lego. Right now I’m on the fence about him, but maybe book 2 can help me decide! I look forward to that!
Luella has secluded herself due to feeling unloved due to her looks and being ridiculed throughout her life, including from her parents. After finding a job that she enjoys Luella keeps to herself traveling mainly to work and back home while secluding herself from any form of friendship or any relationships, but she has a love of books about erotic and BDSM and gets lost in them, wondering what it would be like to live out some of the stories in real life. Luella hates her job and her creepy boss Calvin, and thinks that she was only hired by his wife because she is so unattractive and he wouldn’t want to have an affair with her.
Luella has stopped trying to have friends and interact with people until Fletcher bumps into her and offers to teach her about the kinky things that she had been daydreaming about from the books she reads. Fletcher wants to help Luella stop doubting herself and believes he can help her become confident about herself again. Luella has her doubts but really wants to try to be open and honest with Fletcher about everything, including her kinky fantasies. Fletcher helps Luella learn to love herself and also discover that she has a submissive side that enjoys kink.
I loved how Luella thought she was an ugly duckling and Fletcher made her realizes she was a beautiful swan. The story line kept me intrigued wanting to know what was going to happen to them next. Can’t wait to see what happens with Luella next.
Not my cup of tea. But that’s me personally. It sounded interesting but I can’t get into these type of stories. And the ebook ends at 61% that’s it. Luella had a rough life. She had a eye issue that needed to be fixed. Also due to a accident she also has a scar from her eye to chin. She believes she is ugly and unwanted. She disappears into BDSM books where she feels she belongs. But after admitting to a ex boyfriend that she wanted to be tied up, he told her she was a freak. Fletcher finds the boom she was reading one day and decides to bring her out of her shell.
I’m sure if you into BDSM books this is right up your alley, unfortunately for me I couldn’t get into it hence the 3 stars
As I started reading this book I didn’t know if I would enjoy it or not. But as I read each page I became enthralled in the story.
It was unlike any BDSM book I have read. The story was unique, suspenseful, erotic, and most of all…. captivating. And lets not forget about the WOW factor.
Luelle was a complex character with a past that dictated her life who escaped her life through her daydreams. Well that is until she met Fletcher. And he makes her see a totally different side of herself that she never believed in or acknowledged.
But is Fletcher everything he seems to be?
