An amazing read. Tension and suspense? Fighting and war? Hope and hopelessness? Life and death? Shame and guilt? Love, repentance and forgiveness? Holding on or letting go? Learning to love again? Live in the ashes of the past or rise like a phoenix? Walk away or stay and rebuild? Norway, 875AD. The beginning of the story hits the ground running as we enter the aftermath of the slaughter of Jarl Andor Thornsson’s village. His wife, Svana, died in his arms. He got his revenge on the jealous Jarl who did this. Andor could not handle the guilt and instead of rebuilding he walked away to fight battles against the Anglo-Saxons with another powerful Jarl. Los Angeles, 2019. Cathy was at the hospital attending her unresponsive fiancé. He was in a surfing accident and has been unconscious for over a year. The doctors recommended taking him off of life support but Cathy would not have it. Brad’s parents wished to let Brad have peace and wanted her to let him go. They gave her two weeks to comply or they were going to get a court order. The next thing Cathy knew she was on her surf board in the ocean when an elderly lady came over to her. She had a sixth sense and knew everything Cathy was thinking. The woman explained that there was another man she had to save and sent her back in time. She met Andor and their lives took an unexpected, unpredictable turn. This book is so well written I did not want to put it down. When I got to the end, I did not want the story to be finished. I loved the characters. They were genuine, realistic and down-to-earth. The author did a wonderful job with the imagery. It felt like I could see what they saw. Nature, clothes, facial features, weather etc. Their feelings and emotions were expressed in a heartfelt way. It was easy to relate to them. This Series is excellent and I highly recommend it. I look forward to the next book “The Tree of Time”.
This one of the best time travel series around every book in this series is a stand alone but they draw you in and don’t let you go and there is an immense amount of research obviously done.
This is Cathy and Andors story They are both suffering from guilt about their loved ones Andor’s wife died and he blames him self he has become a roving warrior not carrying if he lived or died. Meanwhile Cathy’s fiance lies in a coma he has been that way for a year after a surfing accident his family is ready to let him go but not Cathy. She heads to the beach to think things over and there she meets an old lady (one of the Norn) they send her back through time because she is the only one who can save Andor who actually looks like her fiance Brad. Will these two damaged souls be able to form a life together Do they have a future You will have to read to see
I have read some of the other books in this series, and I find this one a worthy addition to it. I quite enjoyed this love story of Andor and Cathy. The author explored some serious themes, like letting go of a painful past, self-forgiveness, and when to let someone go. I was pulled right into the story by the prologue, and I couldn’t help but feel empathy for the hero for what he suffered. While this book definitely has some heavy moments for both of the main characters, there was also a fair amount of humor. I especially enjoyed the running gag about the Vikings and yoga! I thought both of the main characters were well-drawn, and their motivations and fears understandable. All in all, I thought this was a well-written story.
The fourth book in the Called by a Viking series a well written story I know this is one series I want to read again. Cathy and Viking Andor Thornsson meet on a battlefield when she is sent back in time, both of them are dealing with the loss of a loved one. They will have so much to go through before they get their happy ending. A great storyline that flowed smoothly from page to page. I enjoyed reading this book. I liked what the Surf of Time is. The characters were so strongly written and the plot was well written and well planned that I was glued to my kindle throughout the entire book!
A wonderful book! Mariah Stone is the queen of time travel romance. Both the heroine and the hero grow and strengthen as the book progresses. The book is a joy to read – read her other books in the series, you won’t be disappointed.
This series has been the best I have read in a long time, and this entry is no different. I would hate to be Cathy, pining away for a fiancé who’s been in a coma for over a year and then meeting a man like Andor, who could be her finances twin but from several hundreds of years in the past. How confusing can that be? Andor is a tortured man, living with the guilt of what he feels is his fault that his wife is dead. He gave up his home and his people to wander and fight in raids not caring if he lived or died. He felt he deserved to die as he let is wife and his people down.
In comes Cathy. The Norn sent her back in time to Andor to save him from himself. Their relationship starts out rocky as they are both suffering from guilt due to their significant others, but they soon begin to develop feelings for each other in spite of the loyalty and guilt they still feel for their prior partners.
This book has it all. Action, love, angst, self-doubt, growth of both the H and h, and finally a resolution to both their emotional baggage. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this book as well as the others in this series. If you like time-travel romance and also books written in the era of the Vikings, I highly recommend this book as well as the others in this series. Mariah is a fabulous story teller, able to bring out all the feels in you. I ugly cried during the last part of the book and had to take a few moments to let my mind settle before I was able to go on to do anything else. One-click this one as well as the rest of the series. You won’t be sorry!

The magic of the golden spindle.
I love time travel books this one was a bit different there is a going to the past, back to the future, and perhaps back again to past that is a lot of traveling. Andors and Cathy story will take you on a wonderful journey both characters have great sorrow in their lives the characters are written so well you will get lost in their lives. The question is will Cathy find peace will Andors be able to accept that it was not really his fault.
Very intriguing story about a mousy girl transported to Norway in the year 875. Here Cathy endures severe culture shock but quickly adapts to her new surroundings. She comes upon a slaughter whereupon she saves Andor, a warrior. They are instantly enemies and at each other’s throats constantly. Through a series of life and death battles, they grow to respect each other and see their value. But there are ghosts haunting them both, and they doubt they will ever find peace.

A modern is transported to Viking times. There she meets a grieving warrior who has lost his wife. They fall in love and have to overcome obstacles. I love this series.
This so well written with unexpected twists and turns for the couple. Amazing characters with a storyline that had me turning the pages as fast as could.
It has come to a point now where Mariah Stone’s books are an automatic read for me! This author’s historical time travel romance stories are some of the best out there and this one was no exception. There was so much emotion throughout the story and you just can’t help wanting to take both main characters into your arms and give them a heartfelt hug.
This is a story that involves letting go, having more confidence in yourself, forgiving yourself, learning to stand up for yourself, choosing to love instead of hate, etc. Cathy is from the future, Andor is from the past and when time travel brings them together, both learn life lessons that will bring them towards their HEA. A truly brilliant story that gripped my attention from start to end.

Another great dive in the past
I once again enjoyed a warmly described story of a time traveler, back to the time of the Vikings.
Two people who have been separated from each other for centuries in time, experience a similar loss and the guilt that goes with it. So beautifully written how they find each other and help each other bear the loss. And how they find love in life again, together. But can she find the way back to her own time to complete affairs and can she find the way back to him? True love cannot be stopped …… not even through the ages!

They will overcome heartache, tragedy, and seemingly insurmountable odds to find a love that lasts a lifetime and beyond.
This is a heartfelt time travel romance with strong characters in Cathy and Andors. The author does a fantastic job building the story and pulling you in right from the start. Both are dealing with the heartbreak of losing their partners and facing life without them. There’s so many emotions mixed in with the suspense, intrigue and twists and turns as well as the sizzling passion. The scenes are described in vivid detail and truly takes you back in time. It’s well written, moves quickly and smoothly and I loved reading. Highly recommend this book to any and all who love time travel romance.

The Surf of Time by Mariah Stone was an unexpectedly, thoroughly enjoyable read that kept surprising me over and over again!!! I don’t usually like time travel stories, but this one hooked me immediately and I couldn’t put it down!!! Mariah has a writing style that draws you deeply into the story, makes you care about the characters, and makes you want to see the story carried to its fruition. LOVED IT!!!!!
It’s the story of Cathy, a Yoga instructor and her husband Brad…who is dying. She wants to save him. A series of events occur that catapult her into the past where she is asked to rescue Andor, a Viking…who, coincidentally just lost his adored wife, Svante. Cathy and Andor learn to depend on one another while she tries to find her way back to her beloved Brad.
