“This. Book. It deserves so many more than 5 stars. It could have ended at 15% and still would have been one of my favorite books EVER!” -Kelli, Goodreads reviewerIf envy is a sin, then let me be damned.Graham was born to be a star. Once upon a time, that star shone only for me. Now, I have to share him with the rest of the world. For a while, I thought I could do it. Because, beneath the …
Now, I have to share him with the rest of the world.
For a while, I thought I could do it. Because, beneath the hypnotic smile, gorgeous body and God-given charm that made him famous, I still caught glimpses of my best friend.
Of the boy who called me sunshine and loved me.
I wore that love like a crown . . . until he placed it on another’s head.
Losing him was agony, distance felt like the only cure.
When tragedy reunites us after years apart, it only takes one touch to erase the past. Just like that, I’m back in his arms.
He promises this time will be different. But I’m afraid to believe him.
Because behind his star’s blinding brilliance is a darkness that doesn’t want to let him go.
I know a star that bright can’t belong to just one person, but my jealous heart doesn’t want to share him.
I want all of him . . . even if wanting what doesn’t belong to me leads me to ruin.

A Sun and her Star! I don’t know what it was, I had read only one other book by Dylan Allen before…but I just KNEW I HAD to read this book! And I was not wrong!
One of the best books I have read this year. It had me from the very beginning with an angel falling from the sky and the hero who saved her. This is such a great love story of 2 friends who saved each other more than once. Graham had a very difficult childhood and then he met his Sunshine! The feels were very serious and real with this book! The love he has for his mother, the love he has for Apollo, the love he has for his friends… he was born to love deeply! He is the kind of boy in a story that you totally root for him to get his happy ending! Apollo was his happy ending! Now he just has to get her and keep her. The things that keep them apart were tearing my heart into pieces! And then just when you think they are going to get together….. something else happens! I just cant even fully express how much I LOVED this book! Their story called to me! I think that everyone needs to read this book! If you love a great love story that spans years. If you love drama tearing people apart so that you get to watch them find their way back to each other. Get this book!!!
Oh My Heart!!!!
We had a great beginning. A great love story, and then it gets all F’d up to hell. I was sweating, shaking, etc. I stayed up til 3:30am getting passed a part I was so angry at.
This book almost had me chucking my Kindle several times. I was so flipping pissed. I couldn’t believe it went a certain way.
Then at about 60% I got pissed again. The story seemed to fizzle out some. The great dialog of the beginning seemed to just be glossed over with no “recap” of any sort. Making the last 10% seem like it should have happened within that time frame. I was a bit perplexed by that. Seems the thing that blew up should have been addressed in those “glossed over” scenes.
I’ve been wanting to read Dylan Allen for a while and this one came recommended! I went in blind so I had no idea what I was getting into, and I’m really glad I did. The set up was unexpected and the concept new to me. I loved the connection the MCs had right off the bat and for the life of me could not figure out where they were going to go after their initial meeting. I was pleasantly surprised!
To be honest, I had no intention of starting this when I did; I just wanted to read a couple pages to “check it out.” By the end of the first chapter, I was hooked and couldn’t stop until I’d reached the end. It was an epic ride–part coming of age, part friends to lovers, and a whole lot of angst. Highly recommend and can’t wait to read more by her!
**You’re my Star in the darkness…**
The author isn’t new to me anymore but every time I read a book by her, I’m just blown away by her writing. It took me a while to read this book but I’m glad I finally was able to ‘cuz it just suprised me so much. The way the story was told was quite emotional and had me all over the place but the emotions that both characters were going through, was simply another way why I felt so much of their pain and feelings too. You’ll have to read the book to really be able to know what the story is about and how you feel yourself when you read it. It’s just heartbreakingly beautiful told and that’s definitely one of the reasons why I adored this read!
Graham spends a couple of hours alone reading his book every day when something happens and he meets Apollo. At first he really doesn’t know what to think of her and they only have a small timeframe to spend with one another each day and no matter what they both look forward to spending that time together. They grow close and their bond seems unbreakable until one day Graham doesn’t show and something horrible happens. Now years later they finally are able to reunite and hope to have a future to look forward to. But nothing happens the way they want it to and when another tragedy strikes, Graham will have to make a choice that will change their lifes forever. But nothing is what it seems and Graham will do whatever it takes to try and restore what he had with Apollo. But will it be too late?…
This book blew me away, it’s spellbinding. I have loved every one of Dylan’s books but this really does stand out.
Right from the off the characters Graham and Apollo draw you in. The beginning of the book is hard to swallow at times, with the cruelty endured. However the friendship that grew in the short time they had together was something hold on to.
This book takes you through the highs and lows of life.
As far as to show you what will you do when you are so desperate to ensure those you love get the care they need, even at your own cost.
This is really a rollercoaster of a love story, and at times you don’t ever see there is going to be a resolution to the disasters and destruction they seem to constantly face.
I did my fair share of laughing at the humour and out come of certain chapter, as well as some tears.
Dylan you certainly know how to consume us with your words.
First book by this author. I’m undecided if it’s a 4 star. 3 star. Or maybe 3.5
The story began very interestingly. It was quite charming and beautiful. The characters start off young. They meet as kids but as I’m reading I forget how young they are cause of how grown up they sound.
While I’m fine with fast forwarding time I don’t think I should get caught off guard and then realize “Oh. 2 yrs have past. Okay. It makes sense now”
There were many grammatical errors.
Being that this was my first by this author and it kept my attention and my heart did flutter and skip a lot. I will read another one.
Envy is a beautiful angsty driven story about two individuals that have been put on this earth so that they can be together. Apollo and Graham are soulmates, there honestly is no other word to describe these two. Both have had polar opposite childhoods, but a leap of faith on a hot summer afternoon sets their love story full speed ahead. delivers a beautiful and heartfelt story about two childhood friends who later becomes lovers.
But all love stories are not easy, we have to struggle and over come great odds to be with the ones we love. These two lovers are no different, when tragedy strikes Graham he turns to others instead of his one and only for help sending them both in a spiral of despair and pushing them apart. However, they are able to find their way back to each other. Their love for one another always shinning like a beacon of hope in the darkness that is life, lighting their way back toward each other.
It has taken me days to put into words the magic that Allen has created on the pages of envy. Apollo and Graham’s love story is the story to end all love stories, and will stand the test of time. Allen give us the true story of what it means to love someone through all of life’s trials
I give this book 3.75 stars…..
This is my second read by this author. I heard great things about this book so I was excited to read.
I love a book that starts outs when kids are young. And start out as friends and build a bond that is undeniable. I loved the plot. It was beautiful, heartbreaking and at times had me very frustrated. For me the first half was really strong. But then the second half something was kind of missing. I don’t want to give anything away by saying to much. I do enjoy the authors writing and can’t wait to see her grow as an author.
3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed reading Envy, even though I did not agree with some of Grahams decisions. I kept yelling internally for him to tell Apollo everything. Before he made such a life changing choice, he should have confessed what was going on to her and got her opinion.
I also felt like sometimes the flow of the story was off. All of a sudden there were 4 friends and Instgram fame.
This was my first Dylan Allen book and I will definitely read her again since I did ultimately get hit in the feels!
*Sigh*
Thinking of words to describe this book has been hard. The ones I constantly come back to are pure, raw, unadulterated, sweet, deep, beautiful, masterful, perfection…. Dylan Allen has given me a story different than I’ve read before. It was gritty at times, and it was unconventional. It had sass in spades, and made me feel every emotion imaginable. Graham is not the typical Alpha male of romance novels of late, and I fell deeply for him. Throughout the entire book I wanted to snuggle the broken little boy that lurks in him, even when I wanted to slap the ever loving sh*t out the sexy man. Apollo was a force to be reckoned with, and I love her free spirit. The Sun and Star definitely exploded together and I LOVED every moment of this spectacular book.
