She was the light in my dark life. The sunshine that warmed me and made me smile.
We had one summer. One perfect summer, until the day it ended.
Years later, she walked back into my life. Older. Sadder. More beautiful than ever.
How can I prove to her that summer was real?
How do I make her see the boy who loved her then, still loves her now?

Let me say that Melanie writes epilogues like no one else! I love this author’s writing style and The Summer of Us is no exception. Sunny & Linc’s tumultuous, heartbreaking love story will grab you by the throat the minute you start reading this book and will never let you go. The anticipation and hope rolls off the pages which is a telltale sign of Melanie’s writing — she always makes me feel grateful and thankful after reading her books — refreshed and renewed and oh so ready for whatever she has in store for us next! Now I have to go back and read the epilogue again because it’s that good! Another 5-star read from this author.
Well….Melanie has done it again! She writes the perfect story and always weaves the perfect character into it…Linc!! I mean how could you not love him??? Money isn’t everything. Linc learned that the hard way. Sometimes you can have what seems like everything in life only to realize that you actually have nothing. When Linc met Sunny, at a tender young age, he realized that what she had was what he needed in life…a pure heart, a sweet smile and love, lots of unconditional love. Sunny and Linc, total opposites yet so right for each other. But Linc’s dad had other plans for him, ones that he had no say in and ones that definitely did not include Sunny. Years later, fate stepped in. Now, Sunny and Linc have to make a choice. Do they follow their hearts or do they let the past destroy them! Absolutely loved this story of love and redemption!!
Linc and Sunny’s love withstood the test of time, literally.
Ripped apart by one cruel man’s words and actions, Linc grows into a hard, revengeful man, bent on righting the wrongs of others. Sunny has lost her innocence and spark, determined to build a life in the town that was the scene of her greatest heartbreak. After a decade, the two finally meet again but that is just the beginning of the story.
Melanie Moreland is a favorite of mine and it’s because of books like this. Great dialogue, sassy characters, and some of the best epilogues I have ever read make her a must read for me. I am so excited this is just book one of a new series. I am definitely looking forward to many more!!
This is the second book that I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed reading it and it deserves all of its five stars. This book is a real second chance romance with a lot of feeling and you will not be able to put down.
Linc has had things quite tough, he’s always had his own mind but has never been allowed to just do what he has wanted with his life because of his father. His father is a man who is very demanding and very cruel and horrible and unkind man and he’s a you’ll do as I say or else kind of man.
Sunny is a very strong and extremely hard working and tough lady and she always takes care of her family, she is amazing.
Linc has had feelings for Sunny and they will do anything he can to have time for each other only his father is not having any of it. Linc and Sunny end up at a camp together and feel like this will be the time that they can spend time together, only they get torn apart and separated and don’t see each other again for 10 years. As fate would have it they do see each other again years later but the question is can she forgive him and is there a connection still there for them?
( NO SPOILERS ).
This book was an absolute beautiful to read and I was desperate to see if the characters got there own happy ending. This authors characters are so great in her books that I really felt for them and they really connected with the reader. I especially felt for Linc and what he goes through with his father and I can really relate as I’ve been through the same. This author dealt with the issues in this book beautiful and this book really did pull at my emotions. These characters have a great connection and great chemistry and what they go through, there journey is real up and down road they travel and you won’t be able to leave this book alone until it’s finished.
I look forward to reading more from this author in the future

The Summer of Us by Melanie Moreland will have you feeling the warm fuzzies. The book is broken up in two parts. The beginning is of Linc and Summer’s young love then fast forward to Part 2 which is their journey to finding love a second time around. If you are looking for a sweet, heartfelt, second chance love story then this is one you shouldn’t miss. 5 plus stars for this wonderfully penned romance. Linc and Summer’s true love with have you all up in the feels.
Once again, Melanie Moreland had my attention from the first word to the very last word
of the fantastic epilogue!
I was captivated by Linc and Sunny, though I truly wasn’t sure they
would be able to overcome all of the obstacles thrown at them. From an
overbearing father to present day choices.
Just enough angst, romance and plenty of heat!
Thank you, Melanie!
Readers, you can’t go wrong with this HEA!
