Ashley Moon is all set for a dream holiday with her daughter in the glittering French Riviera. But nothing can prepare her for the shock of discovering who’s staying in the villa next door… Ashley Moon got much more than a suntan on her first ever foreign holiday; one whirlwind romance and nine months later she had a daughter, Molly.Too heartbroken and proud to ever contact the father, Ashley … proud to ever contact the father, Ashley made a decision to go it alone and raise her daughter herself. Fifteen hard and lonely years later, she finally has the chance to take Molly on her first ever holiday; a gorgeous, all-expenses-paid trip to the charming French resort of St. Raphael.
It is the perfect setting for a week of quality time together; they plan to cycle through the sun-drenched vineyards, lounge by the glistening pool and practise their French on friendly locals. And just when Ashley thought things couldn’t get any better, comes the news of a handsome new occupant in the villa next door.
But fate has other plans for Ashley. One look into her neighbour’s dark hazel eyes is all it takes to give her the shock of her life. Standing in front of her is Haydon, Molly’s long-lost father and the holiday fling she thought she’d never see again.
As the temperature on the Cote D’Azure steadily rises and Ashley and Haydon begin to spend more and more time together, will Ashley find the courage to tell him who she is – and more importantly, who Molly is?
A wonderfully heart-warming story of first love and second chances for fans of Jenny Oliver and Lucy Diamond.

I didn’t expect to fall in love with this book as quickly as I did. I loved the characters as they were so down to earth and relatable. The storyline was gripping and I’m sure every single parent could put themselves into the mother’s shoes. A perfect feel-good read and I can’t wait to read more.
The Summer Getaway by author Tilly Tennant is a summer holiday romance. Ashley Moon was on holiday sixteen years ago when on one drunken night she fell deliriously in love with a stranger. She knew his first name and he gave her his phone number, but when she tried to call Haydon the number was not really his phone number. Their one night together gifted Ashley with a baby girl she named Molly.
Ashley and Molly have a chance to go on holiday to the French resort of St Raphael with her mother Sue and her step-father Morris. During the course of the week, Ashley sees her teenage love, Haydon who is on holiday at the villa next door!
I won’t post spoilers, but Ashley feels the need to be honest with Haydon about Molly, but the story is one of missed opportunities and awkward meetings between the two of them. Ashley’s mother Sue made me so angry at the way she nagged Ashley about Haydon 🙂
A sweet summer story of heartache, love, and new beginnings!

The Summer Getaway is the latest offering from English author Tilly Tennant. This is the story of single mother and senior living assistant Ashley and her 16 year old daughter, Molly. Ashley was just two years older than Molly that fateful summer of her gap year when she met a fellow Englishman in Ibiza. After an evening of talking, flirting, and sangria, Ashley and the young man, Haydon, had a night of passion before he had to meet an early morning flight home. Before leaving he had written down a phone number for Ashley, vowing they would reconnect when she returned to England. The number turned out to be bogus. In fact, the only things Haydon left Ashley with were a broken heart and her daughter.
Now 17 years later Ashley and Molly are accompanying Ashley’s mom, Sue, and her stepfather Maurice to the small town of Saint Raphael, Côte d’Azur, France, for the centennial celebration for Maurice’s Aunt Violette. Needing the time to enhance mother-daughter bonds, Ashley expects to have the chance to repair her relationship with her daughter after having to tell her she just does not have the funds to send the amazing violinist Molly has become to the music conservatoire where she has been accepted. What she never expected was to come face to face with Haydon and his 14 year old daughter Ella.
What ensues is part British farce/part modern tragedy. With a full cast of endearing characters, a beautiful setting, and a heartwarming plot, the reader will be captured by the brightness of a Mediterranean sun and a modern day tale that will run the gamut of emotions as the story unfolds. I very much enjoyed this book, as I have with all of the Tilly Tennant novels I have read, and I do recommend this book.
