‘Twas the night (okay, more like the week) before Christmas, and all through the tiny community of Pine Cove, California, people are busy buying, wrapping, packing, and generally getting into the holiday spirit.
But not everybody is feeling the joy. Little Joshua Barker is in desperate need of a holiday miracle. No, he’s not on his deathbed; no, his dog hasn’t run away from home. But Josh is … Josh is sure that he saw Santa take a shovel to the head, and now the seven-year-old has only one prayer: Please, Santa, come back from the dead.
But hold on! There’s an angel waiting in the wings. (Wings, get it?) It’s none other than the Archangel Raziel come to Earth seeking a small child with a wish that needs granting. Unfortunately, our angel’s not sporting the brightest halo in the bunch, and before you can say “Kris Kringle,” he’s botched his sacred mission and sent the residents of Pine Cove headlong into Christmas chaos, culminating in the most hilarious and horrifying holiday party the town has ever seen.
Move over, Charles Dickens — it’s Christopher Moore time.

Christmas Zombies. enough said.
Its ok but not my cup of tea
This is a favorite of mine. I reread it every Christmas season. It sounds like it might be cynical or opposed to the Christmas spirit, but in fact, it has thoroughly lovable characters and a lot of heart, although it skips sentimentality and upends most holiday story cliches. And it is still laugh-out-loud funny, even after multiple readings.
A hilarious holiday read and one of my favorites. Christopher Moore never disappoints.
An angel is sent to earth to do a Christmas Eve miracle. Unfortunately he gives it to the wrong person with disastrous and hilarious results. One of the few books that made me laugh out loud. Not a serious book, and maybe just a bit racy in places, it will lift your spirits during the holiday season – or any time.

Funny, clever, and original. Christopher Moore’s books always make me laugh!
I think this is the best of Christopher Moore’s books. The characters are far out and wacky. I love Mr. Moore’s turn of phrase. The writing and story lines are hilarious. If you don’t find a pot smoking sheriff funny this may not be the book for you
One of a kind book.
This is not the type if book I usually read and was not what I expected from the title – but I could not put it down. Unusual twists, quirky characters and quaint setting makes this a fun read.
Love everything by Christopher Moore!
Reminiscent of The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming!
The stupidest angel was a real surprise!
Kinda dark in some spots…humerus as well !!!
Moore is outstanding; no one who reads for enjoyment should miss his books. He’s not a prolific writer, but there’s a solid body of work for our reading pleasure.
This one is more of a novella, but it might be a good introduction; then you’ll be hungry for more. If “A Confederacy of Dunces” is a laugh-aloud book you read every five years, Moore …
Not as reviewed, didn’t care for the bad language. Didn’t finish reading it.
Hilarious!! Sick at times, but hilarious. Loved it.
I was sorry I didn’t look more into this book before purchasing. It had language in it that I did not expect.
A crazy Christmas romp!
Bizarre, hilarious, I have read st least 4 times. Christopher Moore is so off the wall.
A crazy, funny story!
