‘Twas the night (okay, more like the week) before Christmas, and all through the tiny community of Pine Cove, California, people are busy buying, wrapping, packing, and generally getting into the holiday spirit.
But not everybody is feeling the joy. Little Joshua Barker is in desperate need of a holiday miracle. No, he’s not on his deathbed; no, his dog hasn’t run away from home. But Josh is … Josh is sure that he saw Santa take a shovel to the head, and now the seven-year-old has only one prayer: Please, Santa, come back from the dead.
But hold on! There’s an angel waiting in the wings. (Wings, get it?) It’s none other than the Archangel Raziel come to Earth seeking a small child with a wish that needs granting. Unfortunately, our angel’s not sporting the brightest halo in the bunch, and before you can say “Kris Kringle,” he’s botched his sacred mission and sent the residents of Pine Cove headlong into Christmas chaos, culminating in the most hilarious and horrifying holiday party the town has ever seen.
Move over, Charles Dickens — it’s Christopher Moore time.

I like Christopher Moore, this book is very much like his others. The world he writes is very entertaining,
Not my favorite Christopher Moore title, but a fun return to Pine Cove
Hysterical story!!!
I read a copy borrowed from the library, then bought a copy of my own. I am not sure if I can describe the book in a way that will make you want to read it. Did you like the movie “Ghostbusters”? This book is nothing like Ghostbusters, but I get the same sort of goofy pleasure reading this as watching Ghostbusters. Another dodgy example: …
I enjoy MOORE’S book- they are always quirky and very witty.
Dumb and more than a little blasphemous but so hilarious.
When a kid witnesses a man in a santa suit get murdered, he prays for a miracle. However the less-than-intelligent angel who hears the prayer brings back the murdered “santa”… along with the rest of the cemetery. Zombies for Christmas!
I love it an read it every December! The first couple of chapters is a little hard to read as the author packs as many adjectives and analogies in each sentence as he possibly can. His writing style is a little hard to follow at first, but he relaxes that a little and you get used to it after a few chapters. Believe me, it is a great story and …
I picked this book up in the grocery store on a whim and ended up reading it in 2 days! Loved it ! Have read several other books by this author just as good!
