Lost in reality.
Brandon Chambers sees a rabbit wearing a gas mask outside his window. . The next thing he knows his parents are dead. They were killed by a biological gas attack. Brandon morns and goes on with his life. He is reckless and a drug addict as a teenager. It only as an adult is when Brandon begins to take these visions seriously as a premonition to the future and begins to do something about it. I liked this book. The beginning was fast-paced and held my interest. The middle of the book is when it started to slow to a drag with too many descriptions and introspection. I finished it b/c I still wanted to read it not that I HAD to read it. Lol. This book was weird. It was like falling into ”Wonderland” except with one foot still in the real world. (if that makes sense) lol. The characters were interesting and intriguing. I wanted to learn more about Brandon and his family. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and will not be my last. I’m going to look out for more from this author. I received a complimentary copy, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am going to be nice and round up my 2-2.5 Stars to 3 Stars for The Strange Life of Brandon Chambers. First off, the book is almost 500 pages and of that 200 pages could have been cut out. There is so much repetition in it that I was getting extremely bored. Speaking of bored, the book would pick up and slow down way too much for my liking. Just when I thought things were getting interesting, it reverted back to the repetition. At this moment, I would not recommend this book. Although, with some serious editing, it might have been a decent book.

This man can write! Someone needs to help me out of the emotional hole this book left me in. Honestly, this story was so thorough it was overwhelming. Brandon Chambers is one of my now all time favorite characters and this book deserves all the praise I’m about to shower it with in this review. I can’t believe I felt like I just lived another persons life. So rarely do you feel that raw emotion of a character really conveyed so intensely in written text. It’s a gem. The upheavals this character goes through is mesmerizing and depressing. Brandon Chambers has lived beyond what is considered strange, from the loses he’s faced and the gains he’s made by the end, I was sobbing. It felt real and so personal, like reading someone’s journal. I got lost in these pages, I no longer existed. Then there’s the ending, oh my. I didn’t expect the intensity and yet again to be cut so deeply by this text. The anticipation, the heart-wrenching, it’s so pure. This author displays an ability to write anything. Contemporary, horror, psychological fiction. I believed every word of it and I was thoroughly impressed. Honestly, it was a pleasure to read and I would recommend to literally anyone because Brandon Chambers holds a little something in his intense life that we all have faced. And it’s incredibly infatuating at that. Drama and mystery all hidden within these pages. Every word was worth it. Every point in Brandon’s life was an adventure of the most normal kind while also maintaining this hidden history that is so evil at its core. I loved this book. Thoroughly.
