Gathered at their childhood home to mourn their father’s death, Ally D’Aplièse and her five adoptive sisters receive tantalizing clues to their distinct heritages. Ally soon finds herself in Norway where she begins to make sense of her elusive past in the second part of an epic new series by #1 internationally bestselling author Lucinda Riley.
Olympic hopeful Ally is in the midst of preparations … preparations for one of the world’s most challenging yacht races when news of her beloved father’s death shocks the accomplished sailor. Saying goodbye to the love of her life, a man her family knows nothing about, she rushes back to her family home, an enchanting chateau where she and her five sisters—each adopted as infants—were raised on the shores of Lake Geneva.
When new tragedy strikes on the high seas, pummeling Ally yet again with a terrible and unexpected loss, she turns her back on the water and instead follows her own North Star—an intriguing clue left by her father which leads her to Norway and the promise of unmasking her origins. Surrounded by the majestic beauty of an unfamiliar homeland, Ally begins to unpack the century-old story of a remarkable young woman named Anna Landvik, a talented singer with an astonishing link to composer Edvard Grieg and his celebrated musical accompaniment to Henrik Ibsen’s iconic play “Peer Gynt.”
Lucinda Riley’s captivating story brings together two resilient women—decades apart—weaving their stories into a moving examination of family, love, and identity. Learn more at thesevensistersseries.com.

This series just gets better and better. I loved this book so much and it was a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
Following a loss, Ally, the second of six adopted sisters, embarks on a quest to discover her origins.
A spellbinding story which takes the reader from the late 1800s to the present, to Norway and Germany and into the world of Greig and Ibsen.
This well written and researched series definitely has me hooked, and I can’t wait to read more.
This second story of the series and this time we focus on Ally. Ally is a keen sailor, an enthusiasm she inherited from her beloved father, Pa Salt. She will soon take part in a race she has been training and getting ready for, in between falling in love with her guy Theo. Then Ally receives the terrible news of her father’s passing and she just wants to get home.
Like the rest of her sisters, Ally is simply devastated to lose her Pa. They shared such a close bond, especially when it came to sailing. After a meeting with the family lawyer and finding out his final wishes she leaves to be back with Theo. Ally has a letter from her Pa, along with some coordinates to give her some clues about her original birthplace. She plans to one day delve into her ancestry but for not she just needs her heart to heal alongside her Theo.
When yet another tragedy happens, Ally needs time away from the life she once loved so much and she heads to Norway. This is the first step in figuring out who she is and where she comes from. We then go way back in time, 100 years ago and an old love story is being told about Anna, a much acclaimed singer who Ally potentially has a connection with. I love how in depth Lucinda is when it comes to the history being re-told. It’s so interesting and she really does a great job of bringing each detailed moment to life.
When we delve back into the present day, Ally meets someone who she could potentially be related to which is surprising but exciting news. She goes through so much heartache in her young life and I was glad for her to find some beautiful moments of happiness.
Once again, this was another fabulous and addictive instalment of this series. Really looking forward to reading the next one now that I’ve seen who it is about
THE STORM SISTER is #2 in Lucinda Riley’s planned 7 volume series about six adopted sisters, where each novel is the story of one sister’s search for her biological origins.
In this one, flute-playing professional sailor Ally finds love, loses love, explores roots, and uncovers some of her own musical family connections. Most of the story takes place in Norway, tying into the play written by Henrik Ibsen, for which Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg composed music — Peer Gynt. In addition to Ally’s story, Riley also tells a related love story from Germany in the late 1930s — so you can imagine that story doesn’t end well.
Part historical fiction, part mystery, and part the pure creation of Riley’s fertile imagination — it’s a fun read, though the prose is a little hit-you-over-the-head obvious in a few places. I definitely plan to continue with the series.
I did find this story a little sadder than the previous book but loved it even more. Don’t start reading this unless you are prepared to lose a couple of days as you won’t be able to put it down!
I went from hating this story, to loving it, to hating it and loving it all over again.
Lucinda Riley has a unique way to blend history with modern tales.Mixing fiction with truth. Romance with sadness. Love with grief.
I lost track over how many times I cried while listening to this audiobook. I swore I would never return to it, never finish it. But still I couldn’t leave it, I had to finish it. I just had to know how Ally’s story would end.
And by doing so I was introduced to the next book in this series, Star’s story “The Shadow Sister”. And still, I got the feeling of hidden secrets..
Being Norwegian this story touched me even more. I have off course heard of Edvard Grieg, Peer Gynt and so. But my knowledge of this is nothing to brag about. Listening to this audiobook made me want to explore more of my home country, our history and music. And I also got a new thing to put on my bucket list: To visit Troldhaugen in Bergen
I loved her whole Seven Sisters series.
This story is really good, but it is too detailed and drawn out. I end up skimming a lot. I want to read the rest of the series, but repetitiveness and drawn out conversations are dull. I’m not sure I will continue.
Very enjoyable reading. Difficult to put down. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
