The young woman standing on Lottie’s step was a stranger. She was clutching the hand of a young boy. ‘Help me,’ she said to Lottie. ‘Please help me.’ One Monday morning, the body of a young pregnant woman is found. The same day, a mother and her son visit the house of Detective Lottie Parker, begging for help to find a lost friend. Could this be the same girl? When a second victim is discovered … girl?
When a second victim is discovered by the same man, with the murder bearing all the same hallmarks as the first, Lottie needs to work fast to discover how else the two were linked. Then two more girls go missing.
Detective Lottie Parker is a woman on the edge, haunted by her tragic past and struggling to keep her family together through difficult times. Can she fight her own demons and catch the killer before he claims another victim?
The Stolen Girls is a gripping and page-turning thriller that will leave you breathless. Perfect for fans of Rachel Abbott, Karin Slaughter and Robert Dugoni.

Love, love, love Lottie Parker!
The second book in the Lottie Parker series, The Stolen Girls involved Lottie and sidekick Boyd in a search that gets very close to home. You really feel for Lottie, struggling to keep the case on track while having to deal with various domestic crises at home. When the bodies of young women start turning up on building sites, one of the workers comes under suspicion, and subsequent events do little to allay Lottie’s doubts about him. She tangles with the obnoxious manager of a centre for asylum seekers, and before long, her late husband’s reputation is in doubt. Lottie is so spirited and defiant, it’s a wonder she hasn’t been chucked out of the police service long ago, but never mind – she’s just the sort of maverick you need for a series like this. Very enjoyable, a real page-turner, but not without its sadder moments when you can’t avoid reflecting on the fate of the people Lottie is trying to save.Nikki Copleston
Wish she had more books–read them all
It was very good
To long for short story
I like the whole series.
After reading the first book with DI Lottie Parker, I couldn’t wait to read the next installment in this series. I was so thrilled to have found a new series with the potential to become a new favorite of mine. When I finally got my hand on the brand new novel “The Stolen Girls” I was really excited and my hopes where so high, that I was a little scared the book might not be able to reach up to my expectations. But boy, was I wrong. Just like book #1, I was pulled into the story and couldn’t put the book down. And just like the first book I asked myself, how much of what I was reading might be true. I like the character of Lottie so much. She represents single moms and shows the difficulties to manage, job, family and the possibility of a new love life. And, like anyone else, Lottie has flows. This makes her so normal and real. Reading about the was in Kosovo was tough at times. Little girls being raped, dads committing suicide and orphaned little boys trying to survive in a world nobody knows who is friend or enemy. I cried and my heart went out to the many people being victims of this crime. And then coming to a new country, trying to build a new life, but being treated like criminals. Again. That is so wrong. The case about the stolen girls is greatly plotted and the outlining of police work is easy to follow. And I still want Lottie to get it on with her partner Boyd. I think they would make a great match. But with his ex back in Ireland things are not getting easier for them.
I cannot put her books down! I try to read them slowly, so I can enjoy them longer, but it’s impossible! Love these stories.
Great story with lots of unexpected twists.
I am not in the habit of writing reviews for everything I read! I am tired of Amazon asking me to review every book I read, since I read at least three books a week!
Very dark thriller. Liked the characters read another by this author with the same reaction. Well written.
Great twist at the end!
Good book no mother of the year award though
Another exciting twisted read by Patricia Gibney that had me biting my nails and stress-reading on into the night. Yep book 2 in the series delivered quite a dramatic story and kept me on my toes for the full ride. These aren’t quick reads. You have to invest time to follow how fast and crazy the detective’s whirlwind life progresses. You struggle to keep up with her pace and determine where her head is at, but it’s worth the journey if you hang on tight. It’s rarely predictable, and you never know what trouble she will find next!
D.I. Lottie Parker has quite a crazy mixed up life, and these books offer glimpses into her own kind of mayhem – her possible feelings for her partner Boyd, her impossible home life with her 3 teenagers, her controlling mother, etc. And yet somehow, she manages to solve murder cases. She’s quite a quirky heroine despite the dark and grim murders that she studies.
Many twists to keep you speculating on who is the potential killer. Many suspects come to mind based on the development and presentation of the characters. The subject of human trafficking (organ and sex) brings awareness to this global issue for individuals who are not aware.
Didn’t expect all the horrible things that happened before n Kosavo during the war.
One of my favourite so far, easy to read.
Gibney continues to amaze! In the second installment of the D.I. Lottie parker series, young women keep turning up dead… and the same man seems to be finding their bodies. As Lottie rushes against the clock to catch a killer, she comes across some potentially disturbing information about her deceased husband Adam — information that could tie him to a killer. On top of work stress, she is trying to help her kids pick up the pieces after her son’s previous kidnapping. But, now that a killer has Lottie’s family in his sights, will her daughter be able to escape the same fate her son suffered just a few months prior?
I didn’t know how Gibney could possibly top her debut book, The Missing Ones, but this second in the series brought just as much pulse-pounding suspense, mystery, action and danger as the first novel. Once again, I found myself turning the pages far into the night to see what would happen. As with the first book, the plot of this novel is full of shocking twists and turns and it kept me guessing.
I LOVE the character of Lottie Parker! She is bold, brash and brave at work but, in her personal life, displays a vulnerability completely at odds to her work persona. I like her quirky dichotomy. She has so many layers, and I feel like I am just scratching the surface in getting to know her. I look forward to peeling back those layers as the series progresses. I don’t know when I have enjoyed a character or series as much as I have enjoyed Lottie Parker, so far. I am eagerly awaiting the third title in the series, The Lost Child.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley & Bookouture in order to read and provide a voluntary and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Wowza!! This one definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, and kept me guessing the entire time. There were so many twists and turns that I had no idea what was going to happen from one moment to the next. Just when I thought I had something figured out something crazy would happen and I would be second guessing my conclusions. And man! I never saw that ending coming!!
This is the authors second book, and is just as captivating as book 1. I want more from this author, don’t miss reading her books
