Janet Evanovich has created a character that I love to follow. The author grew up in the same part of New Jersey as I did and she captures the ambiance perfectly. Stephanie Plum is a real Jersey Girl, kicking butt and taking names (and of course she doesn’t pump her own gas!) All the characters are richly drawn and the plots are very interesting. Add in the humor inherent in the characters and the situations and you have a great, funny read every time!

I highly recommend all of the Stephanie Plum books. They are best read in order, but if you can’t find one it is okay to skip it and come back to it later. There’s mystery, humor, romance and most of them are a bit sexy. Any female who has read about Ranger knows this. And Morelli is not too shabby, either. Poor Stephanie can’t decide. What a dilemma!

As the series continues some of the running gags start to lose their charm such as the ever expanding and explosive line of cars the protagonist owns. Still a funny, quick read escapist pleasure.
