This series is a bit Jane Austen meets Georgette heyer. I really enjoyed this book. It is fast-paced, entertaining, and with an interesting plot. The story moves along well, the characters are engaging. I also thought it was very well edited and proof read.
Easy read. “Hallmark” movie in book form.
Enjoyable romantic story, a bit difficult to grasp at times trying to follow the language used in early 1900’s England.
I thought the story would b.f e a little moreoriginal, I quickly grew bored.,
I found this a very sweet love story. Very entertaining
Good story!!!
Very good, would read more books when available.
I loved the first book in the series; however this book tries little too hard. A bank robbery in Boston leads to wrongful imprisonment of the heroine’s father; she goes to relatives in England, ultimately living with her grandmother, and the stars cross themselves into a tangle that unravels at a slow pace and has too many implausible overlaps of life stories.
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Part of a series: The Mannequin
Standalone
HEA
I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
Not one of my favorites
I have read and enjoyed many of Suzanne G. Rogers’ novels. Sadly, The Star-Crossed Seamstress fell well short of the bar set by her other works.
Overall, Skylar and Joe’s story is interesting, if not a bit complicated with a few twists and turns. I definitely like both of the lead characters, and Skylar’s grandmama was a precious gem. Upon reflection, I really don’t understand what it was about this book that put me off. I suppose it was the pace, which seemed a bit slow, and there was a good deal of description and mental musings. Still, the ending was sweet and tender which is a good thing.
