A wallflower who didn’t want to be a duchess… and an arrogant duke ruin everything. Now she’s the Duchess of Hawkridge, the last thing in the world she ever wanted to be. And her husband? Well, he’s nowhere to be found.
A duke who didn’t want to be a husband…
Furious at being tricked into marrying a woman who keeps a hedgehog in her pocket, Derek couldn’t get away from Eleanor fast enough after their vows were read. It’s been a year since he’s seen her, and he has no plans to change that anytime soon. Until his scheming cousin shows up and declares the union a sham. Now Derek has exactly one month to woo a wife he never desired and consummate a marriage he never wanted.
A means to an end…or a new beginning?
It seems like a simple enough task, especially for a man whose romantic conquests are the stuff of legends. But nothing is simple when two stubborn hearts are involved, especially when Derek begins to see Eleanor in an entirely new light. With time ticking down, can a cynical duke convince his unconventional duchess their marriage is worth saving? This spring, only one thing is certain…love is definitely in the air.

I’ve been reading this series on KU, and both of them have been really cute so far! Derek has some pretty serious baggage, but he lucks out when he accidentally compromises the eccentric, animal-loving Eleanor. Everyone needs a matchmaking hedgehog! It was a cute, quick read!
In this lighthearted romance, Eleanor is the bane of her mother’s existence as she stumbles her way through life, with only one thought in her head: to protect her rescue animals. When Henny the hedgehog gets loose, taking a jeweled pin from Eleanor’s hair, she never thought that scrounging around on the floor would result in her becoming a Duchess. Derek, Duke of Hawkridge, discovers a delightful young lady with her head under a table, but when the rescue of both hedgehog and the lady gets out of hand, Derek has no choice other than to marry the wild child with freckles on her nose. The story is well written, although very short. There is humour, but unfortunately also some hurt. However, as Derek gets to know his wife, he realises that she has a special quality that calls to him. I felt most for Eleanor’s mother, who must have been at her wit’s end with the recalcitrant young lady. However, given his station, Derek is also due some sympathy as he has to rescue not only hedgehogs but also geese. He really does find himself in an odd situation. As a quick, fun read, I did enjoy this book and it came as a bit of a surprise. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
Very entertaining although the Duke couldn’t lose his dukedom in the way described.
I didn’t like the duke at first, but found myself laughing at the way they met. It seemed like Eleanor was born in the wrong century. She was way ahead of her time in the way she thought about marriage. I really enjoyed her quirky character. I even grew to appreciate the duke in this story. And the animals were just plain fun! There are wonderful parts to like about this book. It’s a quick, but enjoyable read. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily reviewed this book. This is my honest review.
Wonderful! The Spring Duchess by Jillian Eaton is the 2nd book in A Duchess For All Seasons. This truly is a wonderful and a tad steamy story. Jillian has an amazing way of writing, that you feel what the characters must be feeling. The Spring Duchess held me captive from the first page to the last and the well drawn characters easily come to life and captures the era in which the story is set. I cannot wait for more of this series, although this book can be read as a standalone. Her descriptions are so vivid and clear you can picture it all in your mind. Can you tell I loved this book? This story has scandal, forced marriage, loneliness, desertion, a mother’s love, verbal abuse, misunderstandings, stipulation in a will, pride, sharp tongues, wit, animal rescue, mistresses, cynical, seduction and love. I do recommend this book, you won’t be disappointed. Travel back in time with Lady Eleanor Ward, Derek the Duke of Hawkridge and a little hedgehog named Henny.
