The internationally bestselling Peachtree Bluff series concludes with this ”deliciously authentic Southern tale of family and the often messy, complex relationships between sisters, mothers, and daughters” (Susan Boyer, USA TODAY bestselling author). With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like … should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.
Her youngest daughter, actress Emerson, is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime. She seemingly has the world by the tail and yet something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her–and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.
When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff–one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart–everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.
“Kristy Woodson Harvey has done it again….The Southern Side of Paradise is full of humor, charm, and family” (Lauren K. Denton, USA TODAY bestselling author) and is the ultimate satisfying beach read.

As the eldest of three sisters, I know you’re not supposed to pick favorites—but The Southern Side of Paradise is Kristy Woodson Harvey’s very best. The heartwarming finale to the Peachtree Buff series, this novel had me laughing, crying, and wanting to hop on a plane and head south. I loved every page.
What a perfect wrap up of the sisters and family of Peachtree Bluff. Will miss these characters as they have been so much fun through tears and laughter. Can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next. Great read! And if you haven’t read the two previous novels, enough info given in this one to catch you up.
Emerson has just landed her dream role as an actress. Not only that…she is engaged! But, somethings are just not right. Her health is not where it needs to be. She is tired and rundown. Plus, her Fiancé, Mark, wants her to give up her career and stay in Peachtree Bluff. She loves Peachtree Bluff, but she has worked so hard to get where she is in her acting and she is not ready to let that go.
I just adore this family. It is not your usual family. The Murphy girls are funny, strong, and definitely have each other’s backs. And when the secret (of course there is a secret!) comes out they must lean on each other to help forgive.
This is a story full of strength, love and family. It is about overcoming obstacles and accepting people for who they are and understanding their decisions and the circumstances under which those decisions were made. This is a fabulous, southern beach read. This whole series is fabulous. Grab this book, your beach hat…and enjoy!
I received this novel from the author for a honest review.
This is the third and final book in the Peachtree Bluff series and even though I’m sad to say goodbye to this family, the story ended perfectly with all of the issues wrapped up.
This book takes us back to Peachtree Bluff and the Murphy family. Mother Ansley and daughters Caroline, Sloane and Emerson. Book 1 was Caroline’s story, book 2 was Sloane’s story and this is Emerson’s story. Emerson left Peachtree Bluff right out of high school to go to Hollywood and pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She has started getting small parts and finally felt that she was making some headway with her dream when she came home for the summer. She re-connected with her high school boyfriend and had a major health scare all of which made her decision of what to do with her life even more difficult. Should she stay in Peachtree Bluff and marry her boyfriend or should she continue her goal to become an actress or was there a way she could have both? Along with her dilemma, a secret that her mother had been keeping for years came to light which further affected her life altering decisions.
This entire series about the Murphy family has been fantastic and I am sad to say goodbye to them I wouldn’t mind seeing another book about this family in the future so we can keep up with them because I feel like they’re friends after reading this series.
Perfect ending to a perfect series from a wonderful Southern author. Loved loved loved it!
Thanks to the author for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.
A fast, enjoyable read that’s still free on KU. Some of my favorite parts: How every supposedly private conversation became a crazy, entertaining chat fest among mother & daughters; the Peachtree Bluff town meeting where everyone voted to replace traditional mowing by each resident purchasing a goat (Any Stars Hollow fans out there?); and the silly nickname Grack (must read to understand).
*Kristy Woodson Harvey is a new-to-me author. You might enjoy her stand-alone novels that were 5-star reads for me: Feels Like Falling, Dear Carolina, Under the Southern Sky.
I went into this story knowing it had to be another 5 stars and I wasn’t wrong! The third story was mostly about Emerson, the 3rd daughter, and her struggles with health, happiness and love. This story brought everything together and I’m sad this trilogy is over!
I loved this series. This third and last book in the series surprised me constantly. I don’t know how many times I would reach a spot in the book that it seemed like everything was going to be wrapped up and then there would be twist and then later a turn, etc… I was finally happy with how things ended up, but boy did it take awhile to get there. I loved every minute of it.
This is the third and final book in the Peachtree Bluff series. In each of these books, I enjoyed the family dynamics, authentic dialogue and charged emotions that were imbued with spirited Southern charm. But I was most impressed with this successful author’s growth as a writer, which made The Southern Side of Paradise the most enjoyable one for me.
In the first book of the series, Slightly South of Simple, we meet Ansley, mother to Caroline, Sloane, and Emerson. The sisters’ lives are all at pivotal points and emotional crossroads that lead them back to their family home in Peachtree Bluff. While all three are sorting out their circumstances, their mother is coming to terms with a secret that threatens to shatter the deep, lifelong trust of her daughters.
Add to that the drama that surrounds all of their relationships with the men who make their lives meaningful or make their lives hell, and you have a book that will keep you turning the pages long after the sun goes down.
In each of these books, we are transported to a charming place where shocking secrets, intended and unintended betrayals, and painful consequences are tempered by family love, healing sunshine, soft ocean breezes, and copious amounts of champagne. This is summer reading at its finest! If you’re like me, you’ll wish you were reading it on the beautiful beach in the delightful town called Peachtree Bluff.
The 3rd Peachtree Bluff book. I love this series, The Murphy women and their men …never a dull moment in that family. The powerful bond between this family is a joy to be part of. Kristy Woodson Harvey has written an amazing series. Here’s to hoping for a book four in the future. All her books have been wonderful.
What a perfect way to spend a chilly winter’s day then reading about the women of Peachtree Bluff, a fictional coastal town in Georgia! The Southern Side of Paradise is the third and final book in the Peachtree Bluff series that follows matriarch Ansley and her three daughters, Caroline, Sloane and Emerson, as they all return home to rally around each other as they each face their own crisis. The third story focuses on budding starlet Emerson struggling with balancing love and work and illness. The Peachtree Bluff series is about strong women finding themselves before finding love, although, let’s be read, the love is fun, too! Perfect beach read – or fireplace read when you need the promise of the returning summer and sand between your toes.
A great wrap-up (?) to the Peachtree Bluff series! (I’d love to see more from this town though! Hint hint)
I devoured The Southern Side of Paradise. Kristy Woodson Harvey spins a deliciously authentic Southern tale of family and the often messy, complex relationships between sisters, mothers, and daughters. This book is the perfect beach read.
I had to read the first two before this one. I thought all were good but each got better as they went along.
I liked that the last tied everything up. Great ending to the series, perfect beach read!!
Oh! Kristy Woodson Harvey did it again! I was blown away by this third installment in her Peachtree Bluff series. I prolonged the ending because I couldn’t bear to finish and say goodbye to these characters I love so much. I feel like I know them and am right there with them. I especially enjoyed seeing the places the books are based on in Beaufort, NC (the real Peachtree Bluff), on the book tour, so I can picture them while reading. I have loved each of the books in this series so much. The Murphy sisters, aka the “Starlite Sisters” have such a wonderful bond and this book focused on the youngest, Emerson, as well as continuing their Mom, Ansley’s story. There are secrets that come out and lots of twists and turns as both daughter and mother figure out what they want most in life. They realize it may not be exactly what they ever thought they needed. I just adore this author’s writing and way to bring me in like I’m a part of her story. I am so grateful she ventured on a series and really hope this isn’t the last I will read of the Murphy family!
I loved this book. This is a great stand alone book. But the series is amazing. I love how each character’s story intertwined with the others. Wonderful. Highly recommend.
If you haven’t read the Peachtree Bluff series you need to add it to your summer reading list immediately! These books will have you feeling all the emotions that sisters and a mother can share. Take the journey through life with the Murphy sisters as they uncover family secrets and find themselves in the process. One of my favorite things to read is about second chance loves and this book delivers. Harvey has become one of my favorite new authors. I’m looking forward to reading her books in the future.
The Southern Side of Paradise is the third book in the Peachtree Bluff Series. I loved returning to the coastal town of Peachtree Bluff. The Murphy sisters, Caroline, Sloane, and Emerson, along with their devoted mother Ansley, feel like family. The characters of Peachtree Bluff are wonderfully written. There are secrets revealed, decisions made, and through all the ups and downs, the Murphy family sticks together. I am hoping this is not the final book with these characters. Kristy Woodson Harvey has become one of the best Southern Fiction writers and I look forward to her next book. Hopefully, the Murphy family will make an appearance. Thank you to Kristy, NetGalley, and Gallery Books for an ARC and this is my honest review.
I love good Southern Fiction and this book is just that and more. The third in the Peachtree Bluff series is a perfect wrap up this wonderful series. Readers will miss the Murphy women and the men in their lives in this dazzling novel. Secrets that threaten the tight-knit bond a trio of sisters and their mother in this small coastal town of relatable characters and family emotions. This is a series that you’ll want to own and hope that maybe in the future we might say hello once again. Kristy Woodsen Harvey will take you to this magical little town and immerse you in the Murphy family and you’ll love every minute of it. I look forward to more from this “go to” author. Fabulous!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my early reader copy.
For the last installment of the Peachtree Bluff this helped bring closure to a lot of aspects of the previous books. I have to say that I felt like the first book in the series was the best. The sequels were not as entertaining and the emotions felt a little forced. I don’t want any spoilers so I won’t go into detail, but the biggest aspect of the book that comes to a head in the third of the series really did not settle well with me.
The Murphy women are an amazing group of ladies and they face their trials and hardships with grit and determination. And, like most families, they don’t always like each other. But when it comes down to it, they bond together and triumph over every tribulation with love and amazing strength.
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Return to Peachtree Bluff for the third and final book in the series by Kristy Woodson Harvey. The Murphy sisters have all had their challenges, and now it’s Emerson’s turn. The youngest sister and an up and coming actress, Emerson has spent her summer in Peachtree Bluff, rekindling her romance with her high school boyfriend and has some tough decisions to make when it comes to her future.
Re-visiting these characters was an absolute delight. Woodson has created a strong family of women with such a wonderful and believable family dynamic. No matter what, they are there for each other. These are women I would love to be friends with and have in my corner. Their struggles made me cry, their jokes and laughter had me laughing out loud. There was so much to keep me turning the pages, I couldn’t help flying through the book, and was sad when I reached “The End.”
I joined the series in the second book, and absolutely love it (Book 1 is on my kindle, I can’t wait to have a free day or two to savor it!). If you didn’t realize this is part of a trilogy, you won’t be lost, but it will have you ready to read the first two.
This was both the perfect Southern read and one that should make the top of anyone’s summer reading list. Grab your favorite summer drink and a comfy spot and get ready to be entertained!
