Top Gun Naval Aviator and a son of one of the wealthiest ranchers in Montana, Tory Nolan never got over losing Gwen Ivey or the fact that she cheated on him and got pregnant with another guy’s baby. When he returns home on leave and has to confront her about repaying a loan due to his old man, he recognizes she’s struggling with a lot more than he ever thought possible. Part of him wants to help … help her, but can he trust her again, much less forgive her for past mistakes?
Strong-willed and stubborn, rancher Gwen Ivey has a secret she is determined to take to the grave. When Tory left her to pursue his love of flying, he broke her heart and left her with a son he knows nothing about. Now he’s back, and it’s proving to be hard to resist him when every time she turns around he’s there, charming the pants off her. No doubt he’s trying to seduce her into handing over a valuable parcel of land to settle the debt she owes his father. Well, if that’s true, Tory has another think coming—but little does Gwen know, she has something coming her way, too, something that will shake her down to her soul.

I went into this book completely blind like I generally tend to do because I like to be surprised and this book definitely did that. It was beautiful and heartbreaking but I really loved how things came together in the end.

The author made me laugh, cry and smile while reading this book. I was emotionally invested in this story with its amazing characters and wonderful dialogue. The author has the ability to pull you into the story and make you feel as if you are impacted by each and every decision as though you were right there…as though you were a character in the book.
Wonderfully detailed characters and a gripping story.
I enjoyed every second of the way this story gets across. What a wonderful lighted and fun read that definitely had me wanting to read till it was finished.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to receive an arc to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just couldn’t get enough of it and once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down. I recommend that you read it.
Gwen Ivey is a single mom working full time at a Hospital and owns a Ranch. She has no time for dating. Tory Nolan joined the Navy and is a Naval Aviator. These two grew up together and dated throughout High School and Gwen’s sophomore year in College.
Sometimes when you keep secrets they tend to get noticed. I loved this book and I Highly Recommend for OVER 18 DUE TO CONTENT.
Tory Nolan left home at a young age to pursue his dream of flying, but he left behind more than the love of his life. Gwen Ivey kept her pregnancy a secret and has carried the burden of everyone believing she cheated on the only man she’s ever loved. When Tory comes back to town, Gwen’s life is turned upside down and her heart is at odds against her mind. This was a cute second-chance romance!
What a love story! I was taken in by the first chapter of this book. The author has written this book with great detail and the characters are so well developed you feel angst and elation. Great read.

Originally I read this as an advanced readers copy, BUT because it was so incredible I had to buy it. I needed to be able to read it again and again.
Reading this book, I went through every emotion. I laughed, cried, got so mad I wanted to throw or hit something, laughed some more and fell in love.
Although Gwen and Tory felt that their lies & decisions wouldn’t hurt anyone, they wind up hurting themselves and each other most of all. Read to see how their secrets unfold and how their family and friends are affected by the decisions they made in their past and in their future.
Secrets change people some for better and some for worse. Buy this incredible book to witness the amazing changes by this couple and their family. Will you be shocked to see who made the biggest change of all? I was.
This book is a 5+++ stars.
I really enjoyed this story though I haven’t read any of the first Alpha Aviators books in the series. The story of Gwen and Tory was very well developed and one that is relatable. Readers can understand what first loves are like and ones that aren’t easily gotten over or forgotten.
In life many people live with regrets for being stuck in a situation that didn’t let them pursue their dreams. Through misunderstandings, lies and guilt many are not able to move past the pain to either forgive, forget or move on.
And sometimes people are given second chances to make better choices and/or to rectify past mistakes.
I recommend you read this book about Gwen and Tory to see if after seven years of not seeing one another if they can resolve their issues and move on with their lives separately or with someone else, move past their history and be together or will they find that being alone is their best option. Must read!

I didn’t know exactly what I was getting myself into with this book but it was everything I thought it would be and more! The depth that Ms. Ames was able to bring to Tory and Gwen was brilliant! Tory and Gwen had a history together that was filled with so much miscommunication which led to a misunderstanding and ultimately heartbreak but in the end it was an undying love that caused them both to realize that the hurt, anger, and blame that they each carried wasn’t what each of them thought. We were able to see both Tory and Gwen grow and mature as individuals as well as a couple. I found myself going through so many emotions while reading this story that I was a mess by the end. In a good way! Tara Ames has a way of pulling at your heart strings and scrambling up your emotions while ultimately tearing you apart before she brilliantly puts you back together again complete with a pretty red bow.

WOW! What a fantastic story! This is the first story from this author I have had the pleasure to read. It was completely an amazing story. This author completely blew me out of the water with this story. I loved her writing style and her story-telling. It was a completely believable story with believable characters. I was very impressed by her penmanship. This story had a lot of depth as did the characters. I loved Tory, Gwen and their story. I hate the misunderstandings and regrets these two have had in their lives. I am glad of what happened because I think it helped the relationship between Tory and his dad. I really enjoyed this heartfelt story. Things happen for a reason and I think this story really shows that .

The book is a good romance read. The book is the 4th installment of the Alpha Aviators series but it can be read as a stand alone read. The characters are good. The story has young love, broken hearts, second chance, secret child, and romance.

Hometown hero, Tory Nolan has one dream—to become a Top Gun aviator. Heartbroken, but still so in love with Tory and wanting his dream to come true, Gwen hides the fact that she is pregnant with his child. She knows that if she tells Tory, he will quit his training and come back to ranch life and most likely grow to resent her and their child for costing him his dream. So rather than tell the truth, Gwen starts a rumor that she cheated on Tory to hide from him and the community the father’s identity. But life in a small town becomes hard on Gwen…especially when labeled a cheat.
About eight years pass, and a family emergency brings Tory back home. He’s never gotten over the hurt Gwen caused him with her cheating, but once he sees her, old habits become hard to break, and Gwen and Tory find themselves back to being friends and lovers. But Gwen’s lie has left her with a secret that she must share with Tory and pray it’s not too late for him to forgive.
The Soul Shaker by Tara Ames is a story of young love…of broken hearts…of second chances…and of happily ever afters!
While this is the 4th installment of the Alpha Aviators series, it can be read stand alone. Highly recommend!
*I received an ARC via Booksprout for which I voluntarily provided an honest review.*
Having an emotional day already, I had empathy for Gwen. I understood the weight of the world on her shoulders as a single mom, struggling with financial strain. Not to mention keeping her chin up in a small town with wagging tongues. She thought she was hanging on pretty well until her old boyfriend returns after 7 years.
A lot of anguish! Had my stomach in knots, watching Gwen and Tory remembering their past while struggling with the present. There was mistrust, misunderstanding and a lie.
The story line was believable. I liked both Gwen and Tory. There were a few of the secondary characters that I really liked too. I truly enjoyed reading The Soul Shaker which is a standalone and book 4 of the Alpha Aviators. I need to check out books 1-3! No cliffhanger!
**I received a copy of The Soul Shaker from the author in exchange for a honest and voluntary review**
The Soul Shaker by Tara L. Ames is the fourth book in her Alpha Aviator Series and I think it was the best one yet. This is Gwen and Tory’s story of a second chance at love after she tells a lie to protect him so he could go on to be a Top Gun Aviator. But we all know how lies can come back to haunt you and it did for Gwen and Tory.
Gwen Ivey is a single mom working ever shift she can at the hospital so that she can keep her ranch out of foreclosure. Unfortunately her mom racks up $30,000 in debt and now Gwen has to find a way to pay off Tory’s father whose ranch is next to theirs. But when Clyde Nolan has a heart attack, Tory has to come home for the first time in 7 years. Will Tory be able to keep away from Gwen and will she be able to keep her secret from him?
Tory Nolan is a wealthy ranchers son but also a Top Gun Aviator who left his hometown angry and hurt at Gwen for not waiting for him while he finished Officers Candidate school and become a Navy pilot. But when he’s requested to come home due to his father’s illness can he keep feelings that he thought he’d long ago buried because once he sees her again at her friend’s house it’s going to be very, very hard.
I really loved this book because of not only the second chance given to Gwen and Tory but also touching on ranching in Montana, Sally’s infertility, and online gambling. You have everything all rolled up in a nice package in a happily ever after.
